They only take appointments but you can make them in advance or on the kiosks in the lobby for a later time that day. At first it's a chaotic scene and there's no one there to tell you how to check in. But it becomes apparent pretty quicly. Unfortunately there's really no explanation how to use the kiosks and a large number of confused people trying to use one of the two machines. I'm fortunate because I worked in tech for 30 years and am comfortable with computers. But the elderly and non native English speakers in front of me could have used a friendly face to help them out. Appointment is a bit of a misnomer, it's more like a window. My appointment was at 10 and once I got my number it was another good 20 minutes before I was called. But the TV system is clear and lets you know where you are in the order. The clerk who helped my was sufficiently friendly and quickly walked me through the process and I was out of there about 45 minutes after checking in. DMVs are one one of those strange places, like jury duty where you see all types of people. I heard at least two people yelling at the clerks for no apparent reason. Come on, try to be nice, they're doing the best they can in a chaotic environment.

This time I chose to come here because I received a vehicle from a trust. I was told 3 different times that I needed different documents. So after a 4th trip, I was able to register the vehicle. It is VERY frustrating that everyone is NOT on the same page with the state MVD offices. There are too many people involved with different opinions. I hope that the state can get a set list of documents needed to avoid having customers take several trips to accomplish a transaction. Some employees are very rude and short with customers.

However, during COVID-2020, MVD's are now "appointment only." So, you wait about 1 month if not MORE for your day. This is why New Mexico cops aren't pulling folks over for out-of-date registration, in some cases it's not your fault. Anyway, I made an appointment for my Uncle who just moved here from Utah. We waited over a month for this appointment. Last month me and the boyfriend came to this exact location-- I would have given it 5 stars on that day. Here I sit and this dude who is the manager is nothing short of an ______ (swear word). If I wasn't elite, I'd use all the words. There are only 5 people allowed in. Mike Smith says this is the "Governors orders," but that's a lie. It is 10 people and that's for gatherings. But it wouldn't matter because me coming with my Uncle it was still just 5 of us in. Me being the 5th, so his counting is also off. Mike Smith tells me to wait in the 53 degree outside. I tell him I am paying and he said "well, hand him some cash." Real talk. Last month the same restrictions were in place and 5 people were at the window and the rest were spread about. Nevertheless, Mike Smith lets a man exit so, I can stay inside. His tone is mean as can be. He is rude and it isn't busy, the place isn't packed, and we nicely explained what was going on. To have a GROWN man talk so poorly to not just us but HIS STAFF is WRONG. Mike Smith needs to get another job. He needs to learn some curtesy. He needs to speak to people with respect like he is getting paid a wage to work with the public and have other humans work beneath him. I just watched him in the most rude manner belittle his employee who didn't have a mask on. Though masks need to be on, telling a grown man "that needs to be behind your ears, I don't care where you're going: YOU KEEP YOUR MASK ON" loud enough for others to hear is degrading. Maybe Mike Smith gets off being degrading, dehumanizing, and awful. I don't know. Now a female has taken over "door duty" and with 5 people in here already, is letting others come socially distance sit apart from one another. There are a total of 7 people in here. She didn't make this mom & son split or sit outside. She is being kind, educational, in fact she is the same woman who helped me and the boyfriend! MVD, give her the management job. NM MVD-- what are you doing with this kind of angry human at the wheel!? Does the staff here have a high "revolving door"? Does this place get a lot of bad reviews? Is it because you have Mike Smith at the wheel? I think so. Attitude is contagious. Mike Smith's attitude is the worst of the worst. It is not because of one person, employee, or the group-- it is simply because Mike Smith wants his paycheck and not the job that comes with it, or so it feels like. There is NEVER a reason to talk to grown adults the way you do, Mike Smith. I hope your chain of command reads this and sits down with each and every employee to ask about you on a REAL level. Is this a bad day? Prayers that it is, because working under this everyday would be unbearable. I will NEVER come back here. Ever. MVD's are rough. The pandemic sucks. You, Mike Smith, amplify the worst without remorse, empathy, or understanding. I hope you get well soon. 0/10 go anywhere else or call in advance to make sure Mike is not anywhere near the public.

I really need to start keeping better track of that darn registration that always creeps up on us…read moreevery year or two. Sometimes you get so busy you can't help but to lose track of it. Low and behold here we are tire screeching into the parking lot at the very last minute just to get it done (not really just wanted to add to sense of urgency). Being very urgent on the timing I knew my options. Wait for hours at the state mvd, hit up mvd express with the possibility of still a wait, or hit up MVD and get it done with minimal wait. Honestly if I wasn't crunched for time these days I would've probably hit up the express but seeing as the lack of time available I figured I'd pay the extra 10 bucks. Money well spent! Soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and immediately taken care of. The process took about 10 min and I was out the door. They have a stiff $30 fee they tack on but in these circumstances it was well worth the convenience of prompt service. Thanks again MVD Now!

There were relatively few people there but there were only two staff and the supervisor had locked herself out of her computer because she'd forgotten her password. I worked in tech for 25 years and it happens occasionally, but you call someone to reset your password. You don't sit around helplessly when you have 10 people waiting. Beyond that she seemed very chaotic and disorganized. It took her 10 minutes just to take our names and another 10 to start helping us. But THEN after her confusing and chaotic help we had to wait another 10 minutes for the one active employee to process our info. SHE was very efficient. Another woman had been at the counter when we came in and was waiting for her daughter to come in to finish the transaction. Apparently the chaotic supervisor had missed this conversation and rudely interrogated the woman about why she was there. It was such a bad experience that I opted for a main MVD branch when I had to do update my driver's license. I understand that bureuacratic work like this is difficult but it's more difficult when the person you're relying on for help is chaotic and inneficient.

Returned the second time with all requested paperwork but they could not do the registration as we needed a NM bill of sale. They charged us nearly $50 for a VIN inspection, and advised us to go to the state DMV. We were told that if the service we paid for was not accepted by the state, they would refund the fee. At the state DMV, the MVD express VIN inspection was not accepted as it was not completely filled out. All other paperwork, which MVD express had told us was not adequate, was accepted and the vehicle was registered. I returned to MVD express ( my 4th time there) to obtain a refund and was told that I should have brought the VIN inspection back so they could complete the missing information. I told them it was a non issue, was told refund would be made by check, but as the receipt was made out to my husband (who was not present this time), even though I had paid with my credit card, they could not process the refund! I called their service number and put in a complaint-was told I would get a call back- but have not heard anything since. Pure incompetence! Will never use this business again and am telling everyone I know to stay far away from MVD express!

This man's job is customer service. I later found out that he is the subject of many complaints for his rude behavior towards customers. I don't know how he is still employed but that should be unacceptable.
