Wasn't greeted at the door, didn't expect that but did look for a number or something so I could get in line to renew my drivers license. So I walked up and asked one of the folks behind the counter, he asked my name and put me on the list. I sat down and noticed there weren't too many people in front of me so didn't think I'd have to wait too long. WRONG! After sitting there for about an hour (wishing I had a book or my knitting) they finally called me up. Well that was a waste of an hour, as soon as I got to the counter (again) they wanted all sorts of paperwork to prove identity and residency, I didn't have any of it, I didn't know I needed it. So I told them it would have been nice if they had told me this when I walked in. They weren't polite about it either, they just handed me a sheet of paper with the documents required. Sure wish they had these papers available when you walk in and get in line. I told them they should have communicated this instead of wasting my time and left. Won't ever go back to this MVD location. They need someone from the location at Paseo and Wyoming to teach them customer service. read more

I went in to get an updated license with a change of name. I was given a 4 year price and the clerk was polite. When I received my license it was only extended for 4 months and when I called to have the issue resolved the clerk, Nia, was very dismissive and rude to me. She was condescending and told me that if I came in prior to 90 days of the license expiration date that the license can not be purchased for the new 4 year period. When I verbalized that this was not discussed at the time of purchase, she treated me like I should have known that. I stated that the person that did my update was in training and that the terms of renewal were not explained and that this should be addressed with the new hire so that customers know what they are purchasing. Nia was rude and dismissive and said that she would discuss it with a supervisor. She did not apologize and seemed to want to get me off the phone as quickly as possible without helping the customer. Training should include all terms especially if they are different from what is paid for. I paid for a 4 year license and will have to renew in 4 months. I will not go to this MVD express because they do not have good training, and they have poor customer service. I have had better service at other locations. read more

This place is a total SCAM. Yes they are slightly faster than the MVD, but they charge TWICE as much. I went there 3 times to renew my driver's license and fortunately there was a glitch with their computers and I was sent to the MVD . They wanted $74 for a 8 year license (which I thought was reasonable). Low and behold that same license was $32 at the MVD. Unless you're swimming in money, I'd go to the MVD. read more

Just wanted to take a moment to share my experience with Josephine at the MVD Express on Menaul and Washington. I not only have my personal MVD needs but, I manage a large commercial business that has several vehicles not only in ABQ but, in other locations. My experience was second to none with Josephine, when there were issues as to why my truck would not comply. Josephine on several occasions has went above and beyond to find what the problem may be. She made my job easier as to quickly rectifying the problem so I could obtain the legal documents to keep my trucks on the road. One visit $150?? My husband and I moved to NM and need to get NMDL and register two cars. Checked the MVD in San Mateo and decided to pay a little extra at the Express. A guy checked us in, looked over paper work for DL (like read closely) and said we'd be good to go. He looked at our registration paperwork and said all we needed was a NM smog check. We made an appointment for later that day, ran to get our cars smogged, and came back feeling pretty happy that we'd get everything done in one day. We met with an employee who then really poured over our paperwork. I would not be able to get my DL unless I put in a legal name change to my married name after 29 years of marriage with this name. We came up with the option of using a passport. We are now over twenty minutes into this when she mentions that an almost $30 fee would apply to each transaction instead of each visit. Also, there was an extra transaction fee for one thing or another. I do the math. Two DLs, two cars registered, mysterious other transaction = $150 plus the regular fees. No thank you. I'll sit in a line with my knitting and ear buds for that kind of money. read more

Went in this morning to renew my drivers license and it was a super seamless process. I called in before hand a couple of times just to make sure i took in everything I needed paperwork wise but yeah I was in and out in 20 minutes. Super easy and quick. Review Docs and setup appointment before you go! I had to make 4 trips and finally switched to a different location. First trip, missing paperwork no problem, they reviewed all paperwork I had and told me what to bring in next trip. Second trip with "supposedly correct paperwork" some of which I'd used previous time, clerk informed me my health insurance card wouldn't work as it didn't have dates on it and she apologized she didn't notice it the day before; It would have saved me a trip to hear that the first time. Third trip, smart me, I setup an appointment using their online system for 1 pm. Arrived on-time, waited til 1:20 to be told my employer had one number wrong on my ssn. Again, would have saved me a trip to hear that the first time. I had my employer email me a new w2, which came within 5 minutes. Because of that delay I became #13 on the waiting list. Ow! I went to MVD Express on Montgomery and Eubank and was done in 30 minutes with all and they were much friendlier and less stressed. Ow! read more

Update: I called the resolution center on Thursday to get an update and had to leave a message because my "case" is only visible to one person at the center. Only one person can help so it's not really a center, more like a one person department I guess? I was told by the person that answered the phone that I would get a call back on Thursday, which did not happen. Didn't hear back on Friday either. I'll try again on Monday. Funny that I have to chase them down for "service" on an error they clearly created. Still can't sell my car because the title is clouded. Thanks MVD Express! Update: MVD Express never contacted me like they said they would and I finally reached them at their "resolution center". After giving them all of my vehicle information again, I was told it would take 6 to 8 weeks for them to gather the information they already submitted to the State DMV. 6 to 8 weeks! This is just to gather their opaperwork. I'm guessing if they ever contact me again, it will be another 6 to 8 weeks for them to resolve the problem, if they even help me to resolve their error. Meanwhile, my car title is still clouded by their inability to perform the service I paid them to do and I can't sell the car. All of this because I chose to use them instead of the real MVD Office. Penny-wise, pound-foolish is the lesson learned. I'll never go back and will continue to update this review as the process moves along. read more

Ok so this will be a semi-scientific review: I'll start with 3 stars just to be fairish. -2 stars because they were closed on a normal day. +1 star because the place I'm reviewing was actually open. +1 stars because believe it or not, they had excellent customer service. -3 stars because they lied when they falsely advertised 15 minutes or less. +1 star because I really had nothing better to do and who am I to be so picky? +3 stars because the reason they were so behind and not sticking to their big promise was because this amputee vet from Nam was holding up the line causing a little bit of a scene and they never lost their cool and both parties ended up happy. -5 stars to the old lady sitting next to me who made a wailing, moaning noise after only a 10 minute wait (I clocked the entire thing), but those stars don't count so....... +1 star for the awesome A/C -1 star for the awesome A/C (you know after 35 min. of it blowing right on you?) So, we end up with 4 stars. 20 bucks for a copy of my impeccable driving record and they get 4 stars. I was greeted promptly as I entered. My name was taken and subsequently flashed on a large monitor while I waited. The lady who assisted me was friendly and efficient. Their 30 dollar service charge is hardly a scam; I would pay twice as much and still consider it a value. The State MVD on S. Mateo is an utter disaster. Thus, for the first time I decided to use this idiotic service workaround because the MVD is an utter disaster and was begrudging willing to pay fees to get a car registered/titled/plated. Wow, what a disaster as well. Their name should be an MVD Sloth. I arrived on a Monday at 5 pm-they close at 6pm. There were 5 customers there. Upon check in I was told it would take 15-20 mins. That was a complete lie. I waited and waited. After 35 mins. I was finally served and once in front of a clerk, indeed it only took 10 mins. But it was 45 mins. TOTAL. In fact, I waited an extra 10 mins. Why? Because the clerk who was assigned to me took a 10 min. bathroom break at 5:25 EVEN THOUGH they were closing at 6 pm! Then when I called their corporate office the next day I was provided the name of a supervisor and was GUARANTEED she would call me back-another lie. She never did. Thus, in the end I disputed all of their add on fees with my CC company and the charge was immediately reversed. read more

Spoke to a manager (Bryan) who told me that MVD Express cannot accept an out of state notary that has a separate attached notary page (as is the custom in lots of other states). I was told that the out of state owner would need to give power of attorney to someone in New Mexico in order to get a proper New Mexico notary. I called the MVD line and they assured me this was not the case and that they can and do accept out of state notarized documents with separate notary pages attached. How this person was ever made a manager is beyond me. Telling people they need arrange for a power of attorney to do something as simple as transferring title is ridiculous and shows a complete lack of understanding of the legal system. read more

We came in at about 5:30 pm last Thursday July 7, 2016 was asked by the redhead supervisor what we came in for. They did not have any cue tickets available. We waited for about 20 minutes and when another person a white guy came in she serve him first with no explanation to us. We did not expect this kind of service from a place were you pay a premium for convenience. No convenience and we were treated indifferently because of our race (asian). Totally unacceptable! This is for the Riverside Plaza address on the West side, not the Menaul address. I'll refrain from reviewing the new awful Real ID laws which aren't their fault, but the snotty little girls who work there sure make the worst of it. My mother had to come in SIX times to get her drivers license renewed. Every time she came in, they told her about one new document she needed and when she came in again it would be something else. They never told her the whole list of documents and how to get them. I tried coming in with her, bringing in the documents given on the list of acceptable documents from the MDV website only to be told she needed her previous marriage license AND divorce papers which were never mentioned before (nor on the MDV PDF document list for that matter)--they had asked her previously for her current marriage license an we had that, though they hadn't even looked at it when she brought it in previously before they demanded yet another document. And when i got upset with them they called security instead of trying to calm me down and offer alternatives--like they could issue her a non-compliant license if she didn't need to fly. Or did she have a passport with her current name or could she renew an expired one? I just found out about those alternatives from poking around later on the MVD website (i.e. don't go straight to the list of acceptable documents, as logical as that sounds). You'd think they would know all the rules and requirements since they are dealing with this all the time, but they don't offer any help, they just say "no, you don't have the right papers" and slam them down in front of you. And this isn't even the real MDV, you are paying extra for their "service." Really, the real MVD couldn't be any worse that this. I don't know how these people stay in business, i guess just suckers who think they are going to beat the wait only to be dragged through hell. read more

I was losing faith that I would ever be able to get a simple New Mexico ID card after a tireless search for the dreaded 2 proofs of address.... I live with family for right now until I get settled in and currently have no bills in my name! Unwillingly flying under the radar sucks! Being new to the New Mexico experience I came here to this mvd to hopefully make my life a little easier. dMV's are notorious for being stressful and I was already stressing so I thought I'd pay a little to ease the blow. The super friendly girl who helped me (sorry I forget your name, friendly girl) made it seem possible again, offering great tips on alternate documents, such good advice that I was able to become a legit citizen the very next day! Josephine and her staff were awesome! I was really annoyed with the Las Cruces office because they gave me misinformation and really messed things up. The office at 4100 Menaul in Albuquerque knew what they were doing and did it right! So grateful for their excellent customer service. I spend time in both Cruces and ABQ but should have never used the Cruces office. I learned my lesson. I will definitely return to the Menaul office in the future. read more

We wanted to get different a different license plate for a vehicle when we renewed the registration, so we went down to the mvd express. We told them what we needed, gave the lady the registration form that came in the mail. Without warning us about the 30$ convince fee, she renewed our registration, we where ok with the fee since we thought she was going to help is get a new plate, but then we where informed that we had to get the forms from the Mvd website. We where charged 30$ to do something we could have done entirely online. We where not even informed of the add on until we questioned the receipt. And we where informed that to get what we went in for we would have to do it ourselves. read more
