Here's the absolute truth about this fantastic formal boutique (coming from a mom of 1 daughter who not only shopped at Muzzies for a few years, but she also worked there for two years as well). Muzzie's is a specialty prom dress/ pageant dress store that is one of the few retailers in Texas that carries Sherri Hill. They are NOT a typical dress store that carries multiple sizes of the same gowns. Many people compare Muzzies to Dillards or Camilla Vie, but it is not even comparable to a typical dress store. You are shopping at this store for unique, never duplicated dresses that will stand out amongst every one else. That being said, I highly recommend to NOT step into this store unless you have a big budget for a dress ($400 MINIMUM for short/ $600 MINIMUM for long). Don't do that to yourself or your daughter. It is common for there to be $1,000-$2,000 dresses out on the racks (the more expensive ones for pageant girls are stored elsewhere). I promise Muzzies has the very best dress selection in Houston and you will never be able to find anything else that compares once you try on these high end gowns. Many beauty pageant contestants from all over the country fly here to visit Muzzies because of their unique selection of gowns. I never let my daughter walk into the store until her junior year of high school because I knew we would find something she loved that I wasn't willing to spend that much money on. After a Muzzies shopping trip, Harwin will seem like cheap princess costumes your "princess" use to dress up in when she was little. Macys, Dillards- forget about it. All that being said, they do have one hell of a sales rack that has some real beauties hidden if you go at the right time (and are handy with fixing a zipper or some missing beads). Here's some tips if you decide to take your girl and go: 1. Time your trip. If you're going during hoco or prom season arrive RIGHT when they open (on the weekends). Better yet- take a week day off from work and school and go when it is much less busy. That way any aunties, grandmas, boyfriends, etc (anyone but Dads- more on that later) can join in on the fun. If you go during peak hours on the weekend it can be SO busy it's hard to get through the aisles and see anything. The wait to try on dresses can be an hour. I personally learned this lesson the hard way on our first visit, and never shopped during prom or hoco season again. Plus if you shop before the season starts, you get the best selection of dresses. 2. Follow Muzzies on instagram and watch for their new sales announcements. (I promise I am not ad). We found a few dresses this way when they were first put out and paid only $50 for a few! The good ones go fast so you want to know right when they add to the sales racks and go ASAP. We pre bought for hoco in the summer, heck you could even do prom ahead of time. 3. If you're broke like me (or need to hide the ungodly amount of money you just dropped on a dress for one night from your husband) try their layaway. That's right- they have layaway (or thy did two years ago- I would call ahead to verify). 4. Do not take your husband. Just don't. They will not understand the prices, and it will be hard for you to justify spending money like that on a dress that isn't even for their wedding. If any of my review came across as unhinged or ridiculous and you can not fathom spending such time, effort, and money on a one time event for your daughter, then visiting Muzzies might not be your thing. But I guarantee you it will be your daughters "thing" if she walks into the store and tries on a dress. And if anyone reading this super long review got this far and didn't wince once at the tips, or price tags, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I am your people! At least I was, until my daughter decided to graduate from high school and not need formal dresses anymore. read more

Poor customer service and appearance can manifest in various ways. The experience we encountered at Muzzie's was substantial enough to motivate me to write an unfavorable review, a step I rarely take. The visit was marred by several issues, including unacceptable behavior, staff judgmental, unprovoked rude comments, subpar service, and inadequate communication. These formal $700 to $1000 dresses were messy in a crushed state, evoking the image of a thrift store. While in the fitting room, a staff member formally gave a restriction notice on trying on a maximum of five dresses, and later, as we were fastening one of the gowns, she loudly commented, asking, "Did I hear a pop?" My nieces feelings were hurt, and when I addressed these concerns, my return phone call failed to meet even minimal expectations. This was all about my 16-year-old niece and if she hadn't been eager to purchase a dress, I would not have given them a cent. After spending nearly $800.00, including taxes we were also charged $10.00 for a garment bag. Purchasing a prom dress should be an exhilarating experience. My daughter and I were thrilled to be involved in our niece's milestone. Sadly, we felt disrespected, disregarded, and unappreciated as customers. Upon examining reviews, we see that our negative experience is not unique, suggesting that the company should endeavor to elevate their standards. First of all, Muzzie's is a fabulous store, I have been shopping there for years and have never had a problem. Second of all, businesses can't accommodate & make every single human on earth happy. Third, do you really think that writing a bad review like this helps a small business????????? If you have any intelligence, you would realize the state that our economy is in. Small businesses, like this small retail store, is what helps the United States of America grow! Fourth, if you were smart and knew anything about shopping, stores sell stuff, so they probably DID at one point have a size 22, but sold it. Fifth, if you knew anything about clothes, EVERY item fits different. Sixth, it is the designer's fault if the dress runs small (not the stores, the store just purchases the dress from the designer), but I guess you don't know anything about clothing. Lastly, dresses probably get damaged because they get tried on by careless teenagers & adults (like you) that can't stand the thought of being a size bigger than they "think" they are. GROW UP please, and from customer to customer, you need to do some research on the fashion market & the economy.
