I'm always able to step inside and rattle off some beats on a drum set and since they are all musicians, no one ever cares. So as a drummer, Its always been the drum section for me but today I came in because I want to start learning something new. Injuries to parts of my arms make it difficult to play guitar but since I've always loved piano, I decided that's what I would try. I first looked on line and found some used equipement but decided to stop in and see what Guitar Center had. Shayne was the first person I spoke to. He gave me a lot of great advice and really tried to educate me on the equipement I was looking at. He gave me all the pros and cons of each piece, he didn't try to over sell me, and he even told me how I COULD save some money finding something used on line or even on their web site. The thing I liked the most is how Shayne actually explained the pros and cons of buying used and gave me the perfect amount of information to make a very educated decision on what I ended up buying AFTER I was invited to take a day or two to do some research on my own before making any kind of purchase. I did buy new, and I did buy it from Guitar Center, and it was because of the service I received from Shayne during my two visits with him. The shop is one of my favorite places to shop but it was Shayne that captured the 5th star!

He'll be ready to make a purchase soon, so he wants to know for sure which one is just right. If you don't quite know what you're looking for, or need some elevated service, you might find someone, you might not. Since I didn't have a lot of music training or general incorporation past early years, I feel like this has been a pretty magical experience of professionalism, well-researched theory, practical application, and most importantly joy to my child. We've been coming for over a year now and mostly kept with it in that duration, only taking a break for a small while during holidays. The Jamisons and co. that run the place really are passionate about their work and use well-defined structure with silliness to keep the kids engaged and thinking constantly using their methodologies. Really, the value is pretty great and while it can be a bit on the pricey side for those that are on the fence. While traditionally you may only have 1 parent relegated to taking to a "feeling" kind of class, it's really welcoming (and encouraged!) for all family members that want to join. Some of that value you that isn't on the box is building a community of people walking the same steps you are. Between the developmentally appropriate learning, lots and lots of options as far as times/days/age-ranges, and generally a well-put-together program - I'd wholeheartedly recommend parents give it a try if you can afford it!
