Came here in May 2026....my first time in a movie theater since December 31, 2019. Living in NYC,…read moregoing to a regular movie theater is a nightmare...people on their phones, talking, smoking cigarettes and weed, babies crying. I just stopped going since even Alamo stopped enforcing cell phone usage. But I really wanted to see "The Sheep Detectives" and I saw that there weren't too many seats sold for an early Friday show, so my husband and I visited here and it wasn't bad! I didn't order tickets in advance but used the kiosk when we walked in. I was also able to order food at the kiosk and then pick it up at the concession stand. Although every employee I saw there looks like they are in high school, the place seemed to be pretty well run. It was tidy, the soda/salt/napkins areas were organized and well stocked. The restrooms were a little outdated but they were clean and most everything worked. The theater was clean and the seats were in good shape....no obvious tears or sagging or anything. Sound and temperature were perfect. There were probably about a dozen other people in the theater and nobody used their phones or decided to have an in depth conversation. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the other reviews. I imagine if I saw a film that wasn't designed to attract old softies like me, my experience might have been different but I would go back here as long as it wasn't too crowded.

Another couple pulled up for a 12pm movie to find that it was closed. I miss criterion cinemas in New haven. Ended up going to southbury.

I would definitely try to give this place three stars just for their $5 movie Tuesdays but i just…read morecouldn't. I have great things to say about them I just wish it would be a little bit less run down and cleaner that you're not so grossed out to sit in their chairs and put anything down on the floor. Worth for sure $5 buck Tuesday! You can bring food in from the supermarket (double bonus!). Conveniently located inside the grocery store so you can grab a drink, snack, go grocery shopping, watch a movie, buy a card, get a shirt, all in one stop shop. I think we like those kinda spots am I right? Regular movie tickets on other days are like $9. Definitely don't think it's worth it. The room of the screening is a little small but the screen is nice and big. Only downside: every time someone opens the door of the theatre to come in/out all the light comes in and interrupts the whole movie. Again, for $5 I'll take it! Don't expect much, low expectations are always better but I think for a Tuesday, I don't mind.

Went here for a birthday party recently so my review is based off this. To say the least...it's…read moreodd. You have to walk through a store that's almost like a Kmart to get into the theater. Reminded me of an amusement park because after the movie you'd have to walk through the toy section (aka gift shop) to get back to your car. With that said the location has 3 small theaters and one concession stand. The charm of it comes from the old feel. It's not dirty or messy...just old fashioned. I'd love to check out a movie here just for the feeling. Plenty of parking and the staff on hand was very good.

I love the Bedford Playhouse! This is my "go-to" movie theater in the Bedford area. The theater's…read morecommitment to maintaining a pristine environment shines through in many details, from the lobby to the auditoriums that shine like new between shows. The Dolby Atmos sound system in the downstairs theater delivers crystal-clear, immersive audio that elevates the movie-going experience to a whole new level. The reclining, reserved seats are roomy/comfy. The box office and concessions team are super efficient and friendly, making the whole process seamless and enjoyable. The 2 smaller auditoriums upstairs are a little more hit or miss, but due to the care of the staff and the presentation of the feature are still better than the other theater in the area. One thing to note is that the Bedford Playhouse is normally closed on Mondays, and showtimes can be limited, so be sure to plan ahead, you may want to catch that new release but if you blink, you may miss it as films rotate in and out usually within 2 weeks of opening. Whether you're a film buff or just looking for a unique entertainment experience, this theater is a must-visit.

When we complained we were told that the kids were quiet when they were in the theatre, but were running around outside the room. Thats a problem! But actually we were in the last row of the adjoining theater and we could hear them in the room itself. So there is that. We all also thought it was unusual to exit the theater and walk-through the main bar/lobby to leave and see one of the staff men sitting at the bar with an undershirt tank top on. First of all it isn't the summer, but even still aren't they expected to wear their uniforms while on duty? It was very unusual.
