My husband and I went to see a movie in the Dolby theatre here - which is one of AMC's premium offerings. Due to technical difficulties the movie was restarted about three times with no sound before everything started working properly. Once the movie started running, it was fine. I was seeing the movie on a $5 ticket from T-Mobile and my husband has A-list so we didn't bother asking for any sort of vouchers or coupons but it seemed like most of the people who were in the theater did pursue that avenue.

It for sure is a cute location to stroll around, catch a movie and get some ice cream or coffee at one of the nearby shops. The 2 smaller auditoriums upstairs are a little more hit or miss, but due to the care of the staff and the presentation of the feature are still better than the other theater in the area. One thing to note is that the Bedford Playhouse is normally closed on Mondays, and showtimes can be limited, so be sure to plan ahead, you may want to catch that new release but if you blink, you may miss it as films rotate in and out usually within 2 weeks of opening. What a fantastic job they have done. Cinema lab is the company responsible for the redesign. They have a Theatre that they redid in South Orange, New Jersey. As well as in Colorado. Now there's a beautiful pub upstairs where you can get drinks and food as well. I had a delicious dry aged burger with french fries. The service was great and the food reasonably priced and the burger juicy delicious great flavor. Crispy french fries The theater room itself is really very nice now. Bigger screen. Upgraded sound system. Very comfortable chairs. Not like the rocking chair reclining seats at AMC. But these are wonderful. It's a whole nice experience you can go and have some food and drinks in the pub even if you're not going to see a movie. But it's perfect place to go for dinner and a movie. A lot nicer than just dragging off to AMC for a ridiculously priced popcorn and Microwaved food. Definitely come here and check out the pub and of course catch a movie in the theaters downstairs The Theatre building itself is 100 years old. Downtown new Canaan is lucky to have this wonderful Theatre.
