We came here when my daughter was in HS and returned to have her string instruments tuned as an adult. Ready and willing to pay they said no charge and did it on the spot. I was very happy with the service. Great selection and rentals for those wishing to try an instrument but may not want to purchase it outright. Great guest service and great for those HS students wanting to play! read more

I rented a violin for my daughter here, and when I returned it I was told by the associate who helped me that I wouldn't receive any more charges and the return was processed. They promptly turned around and charged me for the next month, for a violin we don't even have, and are refusing to refund it. What a sleazy thing to do! read more

I am shocked anyone has anything negative to say...EVER! The staff her is helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. We both purchased, rented and taken lessons here for both of my kids over the years. Highly recommend. read more

We are in the process of getting a lawyer to stop the harassment from their collection agency after we returned our rental insurment and purchased an insurment outright with our built up credit. The store rang it up as a new rental agreement and now our account has been turned over to a collection agency for payments we don't owe. They keep demanding we return the insturment and make past due payments. Ridiculous. No one is helping us! read more

We have been so very impressed with the superior music knowledge of your employees! They all bend over backwards to help all students find instruments and books that are difficult to find due to the pandemic. This is true for the elementary students all the way up to college students. We are so grateful for your kindness and willingness to take the time to help us locate required music books that are proving difficult to get. You all rock! Pun intended. read more

Honest and helpful beyond what I expected! I rented an instrument for my son's sixth grade band class. We rented the online and the instrument was delivered to the school. It came with the tools to oil it, carry it and a stand. My son had a great first year. We decided to keep the instrument through the summer to practice and I drove to the store because we were going to go ahead and purchase the trumpet instead of renting it. The store was easy to find and nicely organized. I explained my son was continuing in band and we wanted to buy the instrument. The clerk listened to me and was very helpful. He explain to me that a middle school age trumpet is different than a professional or concert trumpet and that my son will need a different one for high school and or college. He showed the trumpets and prices. He told me that it would be a better investment to continue to rent the trumpet for the next couple of years and then purchase a really nice concert trumpet later. The best thing about this is the money I pay every month to rent the trumpet will all go towards the purchase of the trumpet we eventually buy. So a win, win. The clerk then took the trumpet and sent it in to have it oiled and cleaned... absolutely free. We pick the trumpet pick up about three days later and it was absolutely perfect- it looked brand new. I appreciated the clerks knowledge and honesty. He didn't try to make a quick sale off of me. We will continue to do business with them. I have called the 800 number a time or two... wait times can be long. But if you leave a message they will call back within 24 hours read more

I went there with the recommendation from someone. I bought a new flute for my 6th grade daughter and within two weeks was back because it was impossible to take apart. I left for a repair. 2 months later same issue and charged $60+ to repair. I told him I should of returned it and demanded a new flute the first time and he said the store manager well you wouldn't have gotten a new flute! Sir all I wanted was a good one in the first place! He then said well you should of purchases the $109 repair service. Do I need that with a brand new instrument. Apparently so if you buy one from these people. Beware I will not buy another instrument here!!!! read more

We had a appt scheduled for 2pm. We got there 20 minutes early, appt with instructor Gabe. He wasn't there and they called him to confirm appt. They said he would be there in 20 minutes. We waited until 2:10, still no show. I asked if he was still on the way. They called him back said he didn't know about the appt. I did get a conformation about the appt on my email at 3:00pm. So unorganized and a waste of time for me and my granddaughter. On top of that, they had a customer there using fowl language and with my granddaughter listening to that crap. They didn't even tell him to watch is language because there was a child in the store! Very disappointed with their service and huge waste of time for me and disappointment for my granddaughter!! read more

I absolutely love this place! My daughter began taking saxophone lessons on a whim, and they couldn't be more receptive to her lack of any knowledge of wind instruments. With her recommendation, my son and I now take guitar lessons weekly, and have had the same wonderful experience. Since I wait for my son during his lesson, I get to interact the sales staff, the other instructors, and some of the other parents. I can tell you, it's nothing but absolute positivity all the way around. The sales staff know their instruments across the spectrum, and have no problem asking someone more experienced if they don't. The instructors are patient and disciplined, and it's obvious they've developed personal relationships with each of their students. Don't be fooled by the fact it's a little hole-in-the-wall, the store pays big rewards! read more

I came in late at night, right before closing looking for books for beginner guitar. I was greeted and helped by Josiah, who was incredibly patient, helpful and engaging. I left purchasing more than what I had intended because of his dedicated service. I hope he gets recognition for being amazing, I am inept at music and he made me feel extremely comfortable. Also - very cool program giving back to the local schools, I was pleasantly surprised and have set it up to go our elementary school. I will be back in this store very soon! read more

I have used them for years... They don't always have some of the specialty Concert Band items in stock but they are always willing to ship them in ASAP. They give great customer service and have some of the best pricing in town for valve oil, reeds, cleaning kits, and a decent selection of books for instrumental solos or groups. Overall, I have always been satisfied dealing with music & arts. read more

Went here to rent a saxophone for marching band. Recieved a rental, it worked relatively well, only having problems a month after getting it. Screws and pads came loose and fell off. As it was marching band, I lost screws. I was screwing what I could back in with a mini screwdriver for glasses. Took it back, explained the issue, showed them the instrument, they took it and replaced it with a buffet crampon alto. Good company, good quality saxes. Problems immediately. Constantly out of tune, no mouthpiece, pulling in or out, etc could fix. Spit went everywhere, water marks all over the bell and spit all over my hands. Sounded horrible, every time you articulate it would squeak. A concert F would be so flat it would register as an E, a concert A so sharp it registers as a G. No consistency, sounded horrible. Have yet to take it in, because with the quality of instruments I have received from them, I am tempted to not return. read more

Not this location specifically but the company in general is horrible. Look them up on BBB before you rent from them. The charge you incorrectly for instruments that you've turned in even after you have different instruments. Then it takes a week to get through their customer service phone line and when I didn't agree with the woman telling me bs reasons why they charged me 4 times in one night she just hung up on me. Had to file fraud charges with my bank read more

Absolutely horrid customer service. Avoid this company at all cost. Nothing but a bait and switch - worst of all the store manager Ricky Tiebe has zero credibility when addressing customer frustrations. Corporate greed at its finest with no regard for their customer. read more

Very happy with the Westminster/Arvada location. I went in to get a rental instrument for my 5th grade daughter. They had everything I needed, including the 'extras'. When the saxophone was not working a few weeks later, they exchanged it quick at no cost. read more

As an adult student of the violin, I needed help with the basics to get started. My teacher suggested I visit Music & Arts for some necessary items. The sales people are super and friendly and helpful in determining what you need and helping to re-string my violin after breaking a few. I have been in a few times and I appreciate the honesty of the sales people who will tell me as a new student to avoid high cost items (like rosin) or that it's ok to buy the cheaper bow while determined whether or not the violin was something I wanted to pursue. The prices are pretty comparable to online stores and they also occasionally send out deals and coupons via email. This is where I go for all of my music needs. Should I ever look for another teacher, I will also return here as they offer lessons in house of a variety of instruments. They also offer instrument rentals which is a nice option for those who cannot purchase or want to try out an instrument before committing. read more

Stopped in for the first time today and LOVED this place immediately. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful and didn't make me feel awkward because of my lack of musical knowledge. Instead they were patient and really listened to my questions and answered them in a straightforward manner. The suggestions I was given were helpful and at no point did I feel like the sale was more important that I was. I will definitely be returning. read more

We started renting our daughter's violin 5 years ago through Music and Arts that was present at her school. Later on, we started going to the store in Arvada to get her instrument fixed due to normal wear and tear. Patrick and Liz are amazing. They are very knowledgeable about many instruments and will not recommend something they don't know or just to get the sale. They've been very helpful every time I have a question. My two other children started taking music lessons (trombone and cello) at the store, and both Liz and Patrick, highly recommended their teachers. My son, who plays the trombone, is taking trombone lesson from Zac and he has improved immensely. He even auditioned to play in the school's Symphonic band for next year (a step up from this year's Concert band) and he made it with flying colors. His music teacher at school even commented how he is very impressed with my son's improvement. My other son, who plays the cello, will be in 4th grade next year and he is going to start playing cello at school with confidence. Ms. Melissa is a great beginner cello teacher. We hope to be back in the Fall to continue taking lessons from this branch. We have been very pleased with my kids' progress. I have nothing but positive things to say about the store and the people who work there. How could I not, they treat us like family! Come see for yourself. =) read more

They might have better service in other Music & Arts. My experience is with the one in Westminster. Check your rental instrument before you leave the store. The missing pieces rate can be 60% high. I rented instrument three times there so far, and happened twice that there were missing pieces that we had to drive back (20 minutes one way) to get it. We won't use their rental service next time. read more

My daughter got an electric guitar, but it needed to be restrung. We came in and were greeted in a friendly way right off the bat. The had my daughter's guitar restrung in minutes. They gave her some pics to try and talked to her about her new guitar. I really appreciated the time they took and the service. read more

Stay very far away from this company.I hesitated to rent from them because they are far away from my home. They had assured me if there was anything I might need, it would be delivered to the school. SO, I rented a saxophone for my fifth grader and sure enough, it was missing the mouthpiece! I called the next day and they said it would be delivered in three weeks. They didn't see anything wrong with this kind of customer service. I can't say anything nice about them. I dropped them quickly. Waste of time. read more

In 2010, we rented a clarinet from this location. No issues to speak of. Later that year (yes, 2010) they had a clarinet on sale that they assured me was a "good quality". Here I am in 2014 and have been plagued with / dealing with the sub-par quality issues on the Bundy BCL-300 clarinet. Bundy instruments are not a good quality, and I fell for the sales pitch. Research your instrument choices online before buying. Bundy was recently bought by Woodwind Brasswind company and manufacturing was moved to China. These are not the quality Bundy instruments that used to exist. read more

When trying to pay the final bill on the 11th of June corporate offices told me the monthly billing cycle started on the 6th so i owed the entire month less the five days i did not use the instrument. I said just pro-rate the five day amount. Customer service said "says right on the contract in bold we do not pro-rate" nothing i can do. Very obtuse and combative. I went to the store and returned the instrument and tried to pay for May, but the system would not allow it- I had to pay the entire amount or the clock keeps ticking. The retail guys were great but they have zero control. They have a frame on the wall that talks about how important customer service is. Talk is cheap and corporate does not live up to their words. I will never use the store again. Hope the $50 bucks was worth it. One bad meal is worth a dozen. read more

My parents and I purchased a flute in December of 2018 for my daughter for Christmas. My daughter came home on Monday saying that her flute wouldn't play a couple notes. I took it back to them yesterday to see about having it repaired. I was informed that we hadn't purchased the maintenance package and was told it would be 60-90 dollars and it would take three weeks to get back. My daughter is in marching band and really can't go that long without an instrument. I said to the clerk that I saw that if the turnaround time was extended that the website said that you got a loaner. The clerk informed me that only people who have purchased the maintenance package get the loaner for free and I could rent one during that time. I told her that the website didn't mention the maintenance package was necessary. I took my flute and left. Today I went to a competitor and they fixed the flute in 5 minutes and it was only $10. The customer service alone has made me decide to never walk through their doors again. I will drive the extra 20 minutes to go to a company the has been around for 60+ years. My biggest mistake was purchasing my daughters flute from this company and not paying a little extra from the other. read more

The return policy for this place is such a scam. We returned our instrument 4 days before the payment due date. Not only did they still charge us for the next month, but then they swiped our card and charged us twice! The representative in the store supposedly couldn't do anything and have us the "customer service" number to call. They said they had to have someone call me back. 5 days later no one has called me back. I call customer service again today, and they say it will be up to another week to get my refund! Why can they take the money immediately but not return it!! Horrible customer service, and a rip off! read more

Awful. I rented from this company for two generations of my family(twenty years cumulatively). When the school year ended this year i turned my instruments in. Im still getting billed for an instrument i turned in in person. No one helps you. Retail just gives you thier corporate office number. They just pass the buck and nothing gets resolved. Fast forward to now..i owe 92$ on an instrument i dont have at all. Ive been trying to resolve this for MONTHS! EVERYONE THERE IS INCOMPETENT AND INEFFECTUAL! As a member of the PTO i will be exclusively recommending Universal. We are an arts magnet school and we provide a tremendous amount of buisness to the Arvada store. That will stop. I will personally stand outside of the school with pamphlets to universal music on the first day week of school. Ive also contacted The local BBB to complain about their practices which are shotty and unfair with no accountability. I hope this economy chews this buisness up and spits it out. read more
