Museo del jamon is a chain everywhere in Madrid. Nice store front with display of different kinds of jamon with bar and table but not attentive service. Menu is only in Spanish. Breakfast and happy hour menu. bellota is recommended. Serrano and iberico are ok. Price is above average for a quick food Ambiance is meh, nothing to talk about. read more

Visuals: the restaurant is easy to spot with meat on display through the window. There's indoor (tables+bar tops) and outdoor seating. Note: outdoor seating is next to the main road with lots of cars driving by. Also, you'll definitely be approached for donations. Food: the jamons are sooo delicious! I like the variety that they have to offer. I didn't like the egg though. Service: the service is bad. there was no line, but it took a long time to order. The workers pretty much ignored us until they were done with whatever they were doing. We were told to hold on when we tried to get their attention. read more

We went here to eat lunch with a tour. The service was rude from the second we walked in, with annoyed looks and complete avoidance. The first course consisted of paella: instead of chicken and rabbit, the chef used bones that didn't have trace of meat. The pieces of seafood could be counted in one hand and were microscopic. But the flavor was overall tolerable. We tested the knives in the second course when we were unable to cut the "steak": the meat was so rubbery that we could barely cut it and the French fries were clearly reheated in the microwave. The red wine (rioja) was served straight out of the refrigerator. I was embarrassed that in Spain they can serve food like this. read more

I went to this Museo del Jamon a few times when I was in Madrid. "Great" Features 1. Cheap good food - i had a Jamon Serrano on a croissant or bocadillo (baguette bread) for € 1 and they sell small glass of cervesa(beer) for €1. They also have specials at certain time of the day or what they call in the US as "happy hour" prices 2. They sell a variety of Jamon in different price range 3. Different tapas and drinks available 4. Centrally located in downtown area in Calle Gran Via close to bus stops and metro train stations "Not So Great" Features 1. It got crowded at the main floor where they sell the Jamon and there's only a counter available / bar area 2. You will be standing up in the counter/ "bar" area, there are no chairs ( they have a lower level - with tables & chairs like a restaurant style room but I did not get the chance to go eat at this place) 3. There was one older lady waitress - she got upset when I left a tip ... That was my second day in Madrid and immediately learned No tipping in this country 4. We came to try out the Iberico ham, it being the Museo de jamon. There were 2 seated customers in there, and 4 members of staff behind the counter. I was left standing there for several minutes before someone helped me. I ordered 1 plate of sliced jamon and 2 beers. I was standing at the counter for almost 10 mins waiting for my beer. Everything seemed to move at slow motion. The food was mediocre, but the slow service really took a toll on me. I would have liked another beer, but I just went somewhere else. The staff was unfriendly and really didn't seem to care much about their customers. We said thank you on the way out, and none of the staff even looked up. We would not be visiting this location again. There are other friendlier places with better food on the same street a few door down. read more

So many museo del jarmons everywhere. I can be here all day and drink cheap, icy cold Amstels if my wife wouldnt force me out, ha! Since it's so packed and works like a bar at a night club, except with hanging pig legs instead of chandeliers, all that practice getting bartenders' attention at clubs paid off. Not impressed. My friend and I came in around 8:40pm on a Saturday night and the bar was packed, so we opted to sit upstairs in their dining area. Waiters didn't smile or say hi and escorted us to a table. We both ordered a combination plate (P2 and P3) since we saw a lot of other people ordering them in adjacent tables and assumed it must be good. Our waiter didn't seem like he wanted to be there and was impatient when taking our order. After we ordered, we prayed before eating. In the middle of praying, our waiter came back and slammed our drinks on the table (maybe he thought it was weird we were praying??). Startled, I opened my eyes and saw him open our drinks and putting glasses on our table. Didn't say a word and left. I mean, did you really have to slam our drinks to make it known that you were there?? What difference did it make whether or not we acknowledged you? Anyways, our food arrived shortly after and I was not amazed. Soggy fries, unseasoned meat, not really sure what the hype was. Maybe we should've ordered ham instead, but we were starving after a long day of travel and wanted something more filling. You can't go to Madrid without eating Jamón, especially at Museo del jamón. Well, unless you're a vegetarian like me. A visit here is a cultural experience. They've been around for years and there are multiple locations in Madrid. I ate here with a large group of students. The front of the museo/restaurant is a shop with counter service and a few tables. We ate in their upstairs dining area. It's large enough to accommodate a few groups. We had a pre-set menu of vegetable soup, paella, salad, chocolate cake. The soup was absolutely delicious. The bread was a nice accompaniment too. The paella was tasty, until I noticed some bones in mine! ): I told them that I was vegetarian. Come on Madrid! Yo soy vegetariana. ¡No como carne! I guess they didn't understand the notion. They did give me a lovely salad after that, though I would have welcomed more of that delicious soup. In spit of the paella mishap, the staff was patient and nice. I probably wouldn't be back to this place unless I was here with another large group. Or to check out their tapas scene. read more

We came here when it was packed so it was hard to find a place to stand at all. The waiters looked exasperated with everyone and were surly, but hey, if I had fifty people to serve with no tip, I'd feel the same. When we found some space we ordered beers, and for €2 got a large glass and some paella. The food was average, tried a ham sandwich since we were in a place that specializes in it, but it was overall bland. There are better less crowded bars. However, if you're in the area and doing a tapas crawl, it's fun to see the counter and grab a quick bite. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. read more

Good place for breakfast. Good food at reasonable price. We ate at the counter, will probably go back for breakfast and possibly sample more jamon. Conveniently located to where we are staying. And they have several locations in Madrid. They offer both counter and table service for the food as well. Being cheapskates, we opted for the bar, same food at cheaper price. They also sell jamon and other cured meats at small quantity, good if you want to try different things. I bought 100-200 grams at a time for snack during the day. read more

Had lunch at the restaurant. The place is busy so there was quite a queue to get seated but once we sat and ordered, the food came pretty quickly and it was really good. Paella was to die for, garlic shrimp was succulent and the roast chicken was delicious and full of flavour. Would definitely eat here again!! Their Sangria was top notch as well!! read more

This is a small Museo del Jamon location, but is out away from the hustle and bustle comparing the the bigger main location. You still can get the same jamon without the chaotic. They have a little bar area and even have sandwich beer combo specials! read more

Museo de Jamon has great caña/tapas deals, but do not order anything else. We had sangria that was way too sweet and paella that was way too salty. I literally had a headache after finishing my drink (it is extremely hot in mid-July!) My boyfriend usually doesn't mind a slip of the salt shaker but even he could not eat this. Stick to the beer and ham. Yes we should have known... But it seemed like such a cool place to begin with!! We live for Spanish Jamon!! read more
