I stopped by Casa González recently and tried a couple of their tapas. I'd rate the overall experience 8.3/10 - Tosta de atún ahumado (Smoked tuna on toast): 8.5/10: Good pieces of flavourful and smokey tuna that had a good texture. Went well with the toast and wine - Tosta de Arzúa con membrillo (Arzúa cheese and quince on toast): 7.8/10: Good cheese on toast - Tosta de sobrasada con miel (Sobrasada with honey on toast): 8/10: Pork was decent and the honey added a nice touch with its sweetness - Red Wine: Alceño 150. D.O. Jumilla. Monastrell: Oaty, clean and smooth

Cheese and Meat tapas. So good.

One of the older tapas restaurants in Madrid. The Gonzalez family has been serving tapas for many decades. Great service, and a number of wines and beer available.

Cute little place for tostas and tostadas. They have a great collection of cheese, wine and sardines. Service was good. It can get quite hot in the back area of the restaurant

Highly recommend this gem of a tapas and wine bar. Strolling around Madrid after a delayed flight, I really has no idea where to go and what to do, so I ended up walking the streets and looking for an inviting place to enjoy some bites for dinner. I saw how busy this place was and once the door opened I could not escape the delicious smell of cheese, charcuterie and wine. Had to wait for a few minutes to be seated, and ordered a tosta with whipped goat cheese mixed with salsa mojo and the chipirones (baby squid) in olive oil. Both came promptly and were finger licking good. Their wine list is extensive, many wines are available by the glass, or you can purchase a bottle from their excellent selection of Spanish wines. Red, white, sparkling, rosé and dessert wines are all on the menu. Wish I had more time in the city to treat myself to more of their bites and wines, but I highly recommend this bar that has been established in 1931.

Quaint shop offering delicious cheese and wine selection. The staff is friendly and helpful in providing the perfect experience for your visit.

So many great food establishments and tapas places in Madrid, but not this establishment. Unripe tomatoes in salad, pork cheeks with a sauce contained a tart liquor that overwhelmed the senses in a bad way, waitress failed to deliver olive oil for bread after asking multiple times, muscles in sauce truly disappointing. stale crackers. Cheeses sold in front market look lovely.

This place is totally awesome. The white wine, Verdejo, it's delicious, we ate a raclette fundido. The service is prompt, nice and very cool. I highly recommend this place if you are in Madrid to have a pleasant moment with friends, family and also a date.

Delicious! "Pimientos de piquillo asados con piñones"

Good spot with good jamon iberico, delicious tostas, and good wine. It wasn't really busy and waiter was not as attentive as I would have liked or what I was used to in other spots in Madrid. But overall a good dining experience. We had two tostas which were both delicious and only 5-6 euro each! (Jamón ibérico con manchego and Lacón con brie) The simple "Pimientos de piquillo asados con piñones" was also very tasty and a great option as a salad appetizer. It is peppers with garlic and white beans I think. Enjoyed it much more than I thought. A lot of locals come here so that's a good sign, but tourists also know about it from the reviews online. Would return here if I was in the area.

Solid spot, with very good jamon iberico, a solid sobrasada spread, and some really good cheese, including a funky blue that my wife and I both loved. Good food, pretty moderately priced.

Stopped in for a quick snack after doing a lot of walking around Madrid and it was much needed. We had a half order of Jamon Iberico and a cheese sampler, along with two glasses of wine. It was unseasonably warm for a fall day in Madrid, so cooling off here felt great! Service was fast and we were able to order in English and perused the menu that had English on it. Great for a quick bite to eat!

I was beyond excited to finally indulge in the tostas experience in Madrid. I heard that Casa Gonzalas was the place to go, so we headed on over for what was an amazing experience. Very small with only a few tables, Casa Claridge looks more like a local shop than a restaurant. Either way, the second we sat down, we were greeted with friendly service and amazing food/drinks. They have an excellent wine & champagne selection, so we drank a bit of both. Each glass seemed better than the previous one and it was evident that these were quality bottles. They brought out tostasconsisting of different breads topped with various cheeses. I don't know how they made these breads, but they were lights out delicious. The cheeses were amazing and the bread was toasted and buttered perfectly. The combination was the best bread and cheese I've ever had. The greatest part about this place is that the prices for both the drinks and tostas are very inexpensive. For an experience this good in an atmosphere this unassuming, you're literally paying a fraction of what you'd pay at a more formal restaurant. This place is low key, casual and authentic. Casa Gonzalez is an absolute must if traveling to Madrid!

Found this place from reading reviews online. They have a great selection of wines and is known for their tostas...which is like a french bread pizza, but way better toppings and bread. We got a few tostas including the tuna and the jamon Iberico, but the best thing we had was the sobrasada balear con miel. Think of it as a quality pepperoni sausage, smeared on fresh french bread, baked and then drizzled with honey. Damn tasty! Service was very busy and not as friendly as some other tapas bars we went to, but overall a good experience. Definitely, make it one of the stops on your bar hopping.

Perfect place to have wine and taste jamon and cheese. Three of us ordered the half order of jamon iberico botella and the half order of the cheese sampler. It was the absolute perfect amount of food with us barely finishing the last few pieces of cheese. The waiter explained which cheeses to eat first and which one to eat last. I love how passionate they are about the food here. The jamon was so delicious. Salty, flavorful and melts in your mouth. A perfect pairing for cheese and bread or crackers. We also tried the vermut since my friend said it was a thing here in Spain (Vermut hour). We really enjoyed the selection and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a wine bar with a great variety and to pair with the famous jamon and cheese.

As good and old school as it gets. Delish tostadas, cheese plate and wine. We got to sit in by the window and watch the world go by too!

Good tapas. They don't have bravas, but they have a lot of tostas to choose from, making it harder to share! Get the carrillada en salsa

I used to work at a small gourmet deli in LA where I became cheese obsessed (thank god for those lactaid tablets! that help me digest cow milk) and when we moved back to Madrid and I breezed past the window display on Arenal filled with an interesting large block cheese selection along with charcuterie and other choice Spanish food products, I felt I'd found something familiar, something close to home. And something that would definitely test my willpower. And though it is nothing like home, really, it is large and spectacular nonetheless. There's a wonderful variety of cheese to choose from: cured sheep cheese, feta, swiss, gruyere, mascarpone, comte, ricotta, munster, morbier and much more. The selection of meats and charcuterie is crazy. This is a great place to shop for a party, a special dinner, a gift (basket, maybe?), the holidays and to take back home with you on the plane, that is, if you are lucky enough not to get busted by Customs. Don't sweat the formal and sometimes grumpy service. They are service oriented but they aren't there to make you feel at home. And, it turns out that the deli, though quite traditional, offers coffee made with different types of milk, including a milk that is lactose free!!! This is a huge bonus for me and still unheard of in LA. Score, Spain!
