We went to this location( Plaza Mayor view is a plus ) for our sit down farewell dinner. We tried their jamon and cheese for appetizer and paella for dinner. We were so full that we had no room for their dessert, instead we had jamon and cheese on a bun for take out for later consumption. You cannot go wrong to any of museu de jamon ham and cheeses. Definitely a popular from its menu. I have tried paella fusion from NYC and Philippines so having real paella made from Spain was a different experience. The sangria served to me was strong in comparison to previous restaurant we went to. We were not disappointed on our visit.

In English: Sandwiches for only 1 Euro?! What a deal! The four of ordered three sandwiches and three drinks for about 6 Euros total. I had the Pan Tomaca Museo, which is toast with totamto sauce and slices of ham on top. It was very good. 3.5 stars ---------- En Espanol: Bocadillos por solo 1 Euro? El pan tomaca museo fue muy bueno. Tres estrellas y media

    Jamon and a beer, perfection!

There's ham and then there is Jamon! Belotta and Iberico are not even closely related to what we call ham in the US. I have had jamon from Museo del Jamon in other parts of Madrid and yet, this location in Plaza Mayor is special. Sitting at one of the tables overlooking this square that has been a center of Madrid for hundreds of years is magical. To think that over 500 years ago this square was used to punish and torture people and now it is a tourist area with Mickey Mouse and Sponge Bob characters as well as street entertainers playing accordion is mind boggling. The menu is simple with pictures of the different choices and fair pricing. We went with a plate of Belotta Jamon and a plate of Manchego Cheese. Along with some crisp baguettes and olive oil, this was a perfect start to 4 days in Madrid. If your in Madrid, make sure to stop at one of the many Museo De Jamon locations throughout the city, its a must!

A chain store that is absolutely everywhere in Madrid, we decided to check it out, partly because of Rick Steves' youtube channel, partly because it did seem like quite a ubiquitous chain. The location in the Plaza Mayor has both an upstairs and a downstairs, as well as an outdoors seating area, which seems like it would be lovely to sit down at and people watch during the summer. The food itself was okay; certainly you cannot go wrong with jamon and cheese. A little on the pricey side if you're going just for the jamon. I tried to balance out of the jamon with a vegetable panache, which I just think was my mistake; don't trust a meat place to do vegetables! It was terrible, but at least I got some fiber in... Overall an interesting experience, but I'm sure you can get good quality jamon with somewhat better culinary creativity elsewhere.

If you're looking for a good smoked Virginia or Smithfield type of ham, keep walking. You won't find it here. But if you're seeking some wonderful cured European hams, this is the place for you. They seem to have it all. Not only can you get just a sandwich but whole legs, hoof on. Their assortment and variety is immense along with good service and a helpful attitude in assisting you with your selections.

Very reasonable place for tasting Jamon or getting a quick sandwich. We had coffee and it was awesome, and the jamon is just so delicious: just savory enough and rich in flavor. We also had some cheese and a sandwich. A simple small sandwich with a slice of Jamón for 1 euro! I will literally go back everyday if I can!

Great place for cold beer and tapas..the variety of Jamon iberico, Serranos, Catimpalos and cheeses is divine. Close to el Museo Del Prado so perfect for a before or after stop in. Every time you order a copa or cerveza a nice plate of tapas will follow shortly thereafter complimentary of course..

We stopped in this place as we walked around Madrid. It was really crowded and very active and lively, with lots of debris on the floor (you'll learn that is highly typical), and lots of order 'shouting' to the gentlemen behind the counter. They are quick, not big on chit-chat with the customers, and do their jobs well at taking your order and getting it to you quickly. The menus are simple and had photos, so you knew what to expect (which is nice when you don't know that one bocadillo is on a croissant and another will come on a baguette). You can't beat their 1 Euro menu, either! We sampled a lot of different things here and since some of which were from the 1 Euro menu, it was really affordable; We appreciated the quick service and the no-frills environment as we were just stopping by to take in the experience. Also, don't plan on sitting, it's all stand-up and that was just fine with us.

The Spanish love their cured ham. Most bars we went into had an entire leg of it (trotter and all) balanced on the edge of the bar, along with an enormous carving knife, and we passed countless places that had row upon row of enormous hams hanging from the ceiling. In fact, they love their ham so much here that they've even named a chain of restaurants: 'Museo del Jamon' (literally translated as 'Museum of Ham'). Decorated with huge legs of ham hanging from the ceiling and bar, the menu consists almost exclusively of platters (raciones) of cured meats and cheeses. Like a number of places in Madrid though, Museo del Jamon offers three different prices: bar, salon and terrace. It's generally far cheaper (by about EUR2-3 per dish) to stand at the bar than it is to sit outside on a terrace soaking up Madrid's fabulous al fresco cafe culture. We opted for the mid-price salon option and ate in the restaurant - I must say that this was probably the best value for money place that we found in Old Madrid terms of price and portion size (even their terrace prices). The other great thing about this place is that it doesn't matter if you don't speak a word of Spanish, because the menu has pictures of all the dishes - result! So after perusing this with great interest to see whish dishes looked the tastiest, we opted for a racion of chorizo and one of jamon serrano (cured ham) with cheese, along with a plate of chips (patatas fritas). The wine we went for was their house Rioja (Ciencuevas Rioja Crianza 2006), which was immensely drinkable. For around EUR20, we were full up and merrily tipsy. Highly recommended as a central, great value place to grab a bite. Or three.

    Frutiro

Came here per others recommendation. They had a lot of variety to choose from. We had top much ham already so we choose the frutiro( variety of seafood), chicken plate and the paellas. The paella has a lot of dwarf size Manila clan shells and dwarf size hard shell crabs that takes up spaces and are hardly edible. My suggestion, they should have used soft shell crab. The paella was easy too salty. The chicken was top oily even the the skin was crisp but the beat part was top hard and dry. The seafood platter was good even though it lacked seasoning, good thing it came with lemon and we have to ask for salty. Another thing we had to ask for was plates and utensils since they only have is 3 and there were 5 of us.

I would have given 4 stars but the wait staff was kind of shit. For the price, food was good, had a nice salad w/Wine and hubby had pork with fires and fried egg w 2 cokes. His cokes cost more than my wine! Daughter had pineapple juice. Everything came out to 30 usd!

Our bill for Museo del Jamon with one extra beer - honestly it was just an okay meal for being 40 Euro :(

This is a definite go to place here in Madrid. Eat, drink here, etc. Then take some to go. Have them vacuum pack it. Jamon de Iberico.
