Great for Spanish ham and cheese. Ham is cut for you , very thinly sliced. Seating. Have wine or beverage. Quick friendly service.

The staff here is awesome!! Super hospitable, welcoming, and very knowledgeable with their jamon. They gave my wife and I the best experience we could have asked for! The jamon iberica bellato is what we had, it was paired with cheese and wine and was delicious! If we lived in Madrid we would definitely visit just about daily! Thank you for the amazing experience!

We were going towards a different establishment when we noticed this fun little spot. They have several items you can buy and take. Or others that you can order and eat at a table with light table service. I believe I reviewed a similar spot yesterday at five stars. This place deserves more, but all I can give is five. The prices are moderate, but it's very high quality. The Jamon Iberico Plata is included in the main platter they offer for 29 euros. I mention that one because it's the best. There are several other meats and a sheep cheese included. There is bread and olive oil. And of course a nice bottle of red. It's a very good value for the area.

Friendly and informative I recently learned about Iberian ham from my wife. On our list of things to do while visiting Madrid was to try Iberian ham, something that is quite expensive in the US, if you can even find it. We were able to do just that today by stopping into Mercado Jamon Iberico. We learned there were different types and different prices. Our decision was to try the best, and the staff shaved a plate of ham for us while we watched. They have a few tables so we were able to sit and sample this amazing meat. Great flavor. We thank the staff for helping us understand what we were having. While too expensive for us to have on a regular basis, we were grateful for the opportunity to try it on our visit to Madrid.

Facebook is a wonderful thing when it brings up your favorite moments during travels. I had the pleasure of visiting this shop during an AMAZING Madrid Food Tour with Devour Tours. I am a carnivore and I was in Heaven when we entered this merchant. It took ALL of my restraint not to eat the jamón that was placed in front of the tour goers. I purchased several packages and was thrilled because they were able to keep several days. I don't quite remember what the prices were, but I can say I really didn't care ha ha. Stop by this local shop in Madrid because Heaven is a room full of jamón.

Outside of the Mercado de San Miguel is the is a little shop that sells everything Iberico ham. Different feeds different prices. The man was slicing pieces of these ham and prepare them in a way so that it can be vacuum packaged. The proprietor seems very knowledgable and friendly. I don't believe this is not a tourist location, but it seems to be tucked away from the most certainly a touristy trap aka Mercado de San Miguel. The store pays homage to that very special pig, and depending how the pig dies and what the pig eats, it's all different grades. The acorn pig is the best, the acorn pig with other nuts and fruits is the second to the best, so on and so forth. I bought a package, of course. For top dollars, I'm certain, but still, it's worth it.

3 words: life changing ham. This was part of the food tour I was on and our tour guide was speaking highly of this place and the type of ham that they have. She called the iberico ham the Louis Vuitton of ham. At first, I was a little worried because I thought she hyped it up too Mich and that I wouldn't like the ham that much. But I was so wrong. Once I put that ham in my mouth, it was life changing. It is full of flavors and it's actually healthy for you (say what?). It supposedly raise your good cholesterol and lower the bad ones. The weird part was that after eating it, I wanted to pair it with something but didn't know what because I didn't want anything to suppress bthe flavor of the ham. The staffing was also nice as they gave us some useful info on the ham and how it is made. Overall, really good place to try really good ham.

An excellent neighborhood butcher shop selling various jamon iberico meats and cheese. The brothers behind the counter are very nice and accommodate non-Spanish speakers. We were offered fresh jamon bellota diamanté and various cheese to sample. Their diamanté was outstanding - smooth and not salty. We bought several packs to eat for the rest of our trip as jamon is not allowed to be brought into the USA.

    Amazing shop, staff, and customers!

I was expecting a lot out of this place, so perhaps my expectations were just set too high. But…read morehonestly, I wasn't really impressed, and was kind of disappointed by this shop. I tried 2 items from here: an empanada with olives and ground beef, and a sandwich that is typical in Salamanca: the hornazo. I thought the empanada was alright, but nothing too special. I liked that they included olives for an extra burst in flavor. But, the empanada itself was very dry. Both the meat and bread were super dry and crumbly. Would have been nice if there was some sort of sauce to go with it, but there wasn't. The hornazo just really didn't sit well with me. It was extremely fatty and the meat was very chewy. The bread was also thick (a lot thicker than the empanada) but still quite crumbly. It was just far too fatty for me personally but if you are big on fatty meat and pork, then you may enjoy it. This place also serves some regional cheese and meats individually packaged near the place where you pay, and those all looked pretty nice, although a bit expensive. All in all, a decent spot to get meat. I personally was not a huge fan of the meat or the bread, but if you enjoy very fatty meat, you might like it.
