I can not believe my experience with this terrible person. I don't know if she was having a bad week or something but this was HORRIBLE. Nalani Ross, the hair stylist in Boise did my hair a few weeks ago. I went in and she seemed so polite and did my hair and even though I wasn't really happy with how it came out- I knew it wasn't her fault per se. When the appointment was over she handed me her iPad which I swiped my card on. The iPad then died. My transaction went through on my end and my card was charged. Later that night she told me that the charge didn't go through. I then looked at my card, saw the transaction still went through on my end. The money was taken out and the transaction was pending. So I wanted her to get her money (70$ but I added a 50$ tip because I always top my hair dressers a good amount.) I then went to work and was contacting support on my side. I spent hours talking to customer support trying to get this charge either cancelled to resend or to get it sent through. I took about 6-7 screen shots of the transaction, the entire conversation etc. Of the whole ordeal to show Nalani that I was working vigilantly to get her money to her (even though it was technically her fault for not charging her iPad and creating this massive headache for the both of us.) The lady via customer service told us that we needed to wait 7-10 days until the transaction falls off in order to resend. Then, the next day Nalani messages me once again asking for the money to be sent. I once again send screen shots of another 1-2 hour long conversation of me and the customer service rep for the 2nd day in a row that I have contacted them and had the same exact response. Nalani then said it was fine and we would wait. During the wait period I had a couple days of my phone being cut off because of personal reasons. (All while the transaction is still pending.) Apparently Nalani tried to contact me once during this time and didn't think to message me on Facebook or any other platform. I get my phone turned on finally today and receive a message from her on Facebook (her first and only message to me via Facebook) and on text. It stated that she was going to contact the police and have this marked as petty theft and tried to accuse me of stealing from her and questioning my morals. That angered me greatly, considering how hard I have been fighting with costumer service to get the transaction worked out, with tons of proof of screen shots etc. We went back and forth and she was extremely unprofessional, condescending and down right toxic. I then decided to just send her the money via Venmo and deal with the double charge until the transaction money falls off and goes back into my available balance. She then tells me that she is going to 'Blacklist me' to the hairstylists in the entire Treasure Valley" and she also has had people harass me on multiple social media platforms. Telling me I am ugly and that I am poor for not being able to pay the money for my hair (even though now at this point I have paid double.) I am disgusted and appalled that a grown woman who is a single mother raising a daughter would treat a client like this. In conclusion, it is her fault for not charging her iPad that caused this entire fiasco. Then she disregards my constant efforts to get her money to her. She then threatens me with criminal charges even though I have proof showing that I am trying to get her money to her. Then she threatens to put me on a Blacklist for hairstylists. It shows her exact character and how terrible of a person she truly is deep down. I have been dealing with a lot in my life and even though she messed up I was still taking hours of my day to make it right for her and make sure she got the money she earned. But all I got for it was a slap in the face and abusive toxic harassment on social media platforms. If you go to Muse Salon, AVOID NALANI at all costs. She doesn't deserve your support. Nalani used 2 different slurs MULTIPLE TIMES during our hair session. The Anti-LGBTQIA slur (F word) and the R word. She made fun of her own daughter saying and I quote "my daughter always tells me to stop using those words but I AM THE adult and she is the child. I can say what I want. It's how we were raised." I vented to my best friend who is gay and me being an LGBTQIA alli, we were disgusted and decided to just keep it to ourselves. After the recent incidents I have decided that I was in the wrong for even letting her finish my hair cut, let alone not tell her about herself right then and there and I am ashamed of myself for not speaking up sooner. read more

I saw Nalani today for a Brazilian blowout and a haircut. When I came in, my hair was a disaster. It had been much more than a year since my last haircut, plus I have naturally very thin, fine hair, so I looked horrible. I left with hair that was soft and didn't look as shaggy. Not only that, Nalani gave me some ideas for what I could do to help my hair look better. As she was working on my hair, Nalani asked me if I had previously had curly hair, which I had. In the past years though, it has just been frizzy. I've never had a stylist notice that. She talked to me about how I could make it curly again. I thought it was great that she took the time to help give me an education. She really met me where I was at and tried to meet my needs with what I was willing to do to rule my hair. Nalani was friendly and professional and very approachable. The system she uses to schedule an appointment was really user friendly. I could make an appointment within the week and I really appreciated that she does appointments on weekends. You get reminder texts, which is nice for people like me who forget. I definitely recommend Nalani. Her prices are in line with virtually every other stylist in the area, $40 for a haircut and $240 for a blowout. It is a lot, but you have to pay people fairly for their time and the products they use. read more

I am the type of person that calls for a haircut 1 minute before I want one, which means there is always someone new cutting my hair. For about 2 years now I have remained with Muse Salon (and Spa) with Tami because she is amazing. Every time I leave the salon I am happy as a pea with my hair and two weeks later I am even happier after it grows out a bit. Some haircuts I have gotten look great when I walk out to the street but the next day or three weeks later they just don't work. She knows how to cut my hair so it looks nice when it grows a little. Tami is rock star and I even sent her my mom. Now my mom is a returning customer and happy as well. Poor Tami often gets to see many, many pictures of what I want my hair to look like. I really appreciate that Tami is honest and will tell me if cuts will work or not. I also enjoy that she wants me to be super satisfied with my cut so she always makes sure I am happy. I know she will take more time if she needs to cut my bangs a little shorter or make my layers different. If you are looking for someone to do your hair, look no further! My cuts and colors are always wonderful. I hate when I feel like someone is rushing through my pamper time. Tami takes her time, offers you a beer or wine, and does her magic. Jordan is a real hair whisperer! I came in and he was so attentive to me. I am a bit high maintenance! He spent 3 hours dressing my locks and nurtering it back to health. Never once felt bad for having not kept up with my hair since I work from home. He created a custom color and tailored my cut to my face shape. He clearly is passionate as well as compassionate. I went here for a mani-pedi before Valentine's day and it was a pretty decent experience, but there were some major drawbacks. A few pros and cons: Pros: -It was easy to make an appointment -They did a good job on my gel manicure -You can often find a groupon for their services -They are reasonably priced -The interior is nicely decorated -The staff is friendly and upbeat (despite not exactly being the most professional) Cons: -It is located in a shady part of town -The staff are not exactly classy people (a bit more earthly, which could be a pro, depending) -The pedicure area was very, very dirty. I was nervous about putting my feet in the basin, as I could see the dirt. -They do not dry your toes under any type of lamp or UV light, or even put quick-dry drops on them or anything, so it takes about an hour for your toes to dry -Though it's decorated nicely, it is not the most well-equipped salon (their equipment is not exactly top-of-the-line) -My nails were fairly damaged after removing my gel manicure. Not exactly sure what she did, but I need to do some repair before getting a new manicure. Overall, it feels as though a bunch of beauty school graduates decided to put their money together to try to start a salon and although they have some good concepts, they are still too young or have too tight of a budget to really take it to the next level. They also need to be a bit more responsible about cleaning and sanitizing the salon. read more

I was very pleased with the Groupon pedicure I had at Muse. My two friends and I were quickly brought back to the mani/pedi room in the cute renovated office building. Two of us were able to get pedis at a time. We were quickly offered a refreshment ranging from water to Diet Coke to wine. Both our nail artists were friendly, accommodating, and skilled. One friend had a French tip pedi that looked great, while the other two of us chose from their wide array of colors. The finished product was great for all of us. Overall I would go back to Muse. I enjoyed my nail artist, the facilities were clean and welcoming, wine was offered (important!!), and the pedicure I received was worth the price I would pay for a pedi without a Groupon. read more

I'm very happy with my pedi from Chrissy. She did a very good, thorough job on everything--cuticles, calluses, polish. Instruments were brought out clean and went into the soap bath after. She was fun to visit with, too! This was a better pedi (service and atmosphere) than one you'd get at a walk-in shop, and for the same price. Chris Bentley is BY FAR one of the best barbers here in the Treasure Valley. His experience when it comes to Men's fades is TOP NOTCH and I will not go to anyone else. Yesterday I went to Muse for the first time. The salon is modern, clean and welcoming. I was immediately greeted by a stylist named Kermit. He attentively listened while I explained how I wanted my hair cut. Kermit has serious wizard-style magic in his fingers, especially at the shampoo bowl. I could have let him shampoo my head all day! He is friendly and has a disarming, down-to-earth presence. But don't let that fool you... I bet he could give a stellar haircut blindfolded. I left the salon relaxed, content and loving my new look. I immideatly felt taken back by how flamboyantly cocky Barb seemed to be about her skill on the phone (you know that slimy feeling you get when you talk to a shitty person) but I tried to brush it off, as she was the only person I knew of doing them professionally close by. I arrived 10 minutes late to my appointment, still shaking from the adrenaline, explaining that I was in an accident when someone cut me off on the highway and thru a rock at my windshield shattering it and almost collapsing it in (1 inch lower and I may have taken it to the face and died). She seemed unsympathetic and irritated that I showed up late anyway. During some chatter I began telling her about my friend who had just passed and I showed her a picture of my friend and I. She shockingly commented, "the guy with him is hot". It was obviously me she was referring to, I just couldn't believe that someone would have the audacity to make a comment like that when I was trapped sitting in her chair and had only pulled the photo out to show her the picture of my friend that just died. Then she continued bragging about herself and her skills throughout the appointment, pulling out photo albums and wasting a lot of time. I would've left, but I just drove 8 hours, set the appointment up two months in advance, had little to no other options, and was now in a complete place of vulnerability being stuck in that chair while she finished working on my hair. After we had removed my lock from my ex-girlfriend, that I had mentioned I was trying to reclaim and restore a good energy to escape that toxic relationship, she prepared the extension to go in its place. After she put it in she exclaimed that girls will be "creaming in their panties when they see this" I was completely shocked and disgusted that she would say something like that. As I was walking back to my truck trying to get the hell out of there she had the nerve to make that same expression two more times before I even reached my vehicle. She basically robbed me of that healthier start to that lock by putting a disgusting energy and feeling into it right after she was done. I left feeling violated and taken advantage of. I've never felt so terrible after receiving a service from anybody in the service industry in my entire life. It took me months to figure out if, and how I was going to come up with the right words to truly Express how horrible this experience was. I had to cut it short because there wasn't enough character space to fit in all the gross details. But I feel that it is important to leave this review publicly in hopes to at least spare somebody else from having to go through such a disgusting ordeal. I can't imagine this is the first time something like this has happened. But everyone must be held accountable for that kind of sexual harassment. Even if it's a women doing it to a man. read more

My initial greeting from the owner included her arriving late & ordering her staff to make her some coffee and go look for her boyfriend's missing cell phone in her car. Her cell phone continued to ring on high volume and she took personal calls using excessive profanity during the appointment. I'm assuming she didn't observe the pictures I showed her since she put nearly white highlights in my hair after I had requested low lights for my medium brown hair. My bangs were cut at least 2" shorter than anyone in their right mind would cut bangs.. I will be going elsewhere to have this mess fixed by a professional. read more

The owner herself had made the appointment for me without confirming that there would be someone available. I purchased a Groupon deal of a Mani, Pedi, and a facial from here. The facial was amazing, the manicure was NOTHING great. I could have done it myself. The PEDICURE though! This was my first pedicure ever and I contracted a lovely green fungus under my toe. My mother's nail technician identified it for me. I did my research and apparently it can be caused by non-sterilized files. YUCK! This was my first pedicure!!! IF (and that's a big IF) I ever get another pedicure, it definitely won't be from here. I watched how they cleaned the foot bath of the person next to me. 2 pumps of what looked like a shampoo bottle and they left the water bubbling for awhile, then drained it and wiped out the foam. She provided me great results that I had been searching for. Plus enjoyed having great conversation about real life.
