This is a great spot to do something new (albeit - not the cheapest activity in the DMV if you are price-sensitive). Decided to do this with co-workers, and honestly, we all had a great time. We all had various skill levels when it came to painting, but we all enjoyed ourselves. Our instructor was also very helpful - guiding us through the different steps of completing our portraits and encouraging us along the way. There were also food and wine options. I wouldn't say they're the best ever, but it hit good. Especially drinking wine and painting. I would highly recommend checking out this place next time you want to do something new :) read more

A very enjoyable experience, even if you don't think of yourself as the most artistically inclined. The space itself is inviting, the experience is fun, and the staff were all incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Pricing for the experience itself was very fair, though the food and drink was a tad on the pricier side but still acceptable. I had fun!! First, I actually really liked the food! We had amazing fries, celery, pepperoni pizza (with hot honey), etc. pretty good for a painting place. I also liked the wines. I like how they have a lot of paintings you can choose from. That's so nice! They teach you how to paint the paintings and they are nice and encouraging. Also, they had a foot setup. Had a wonderful time here! Classes are reasonably priced at $35 and you'll probably spend an additional $35 on food and drink. The painting was a bit smaller than I expected. They have two studios in a small space. The painting color was slightly different than what was online, so either online they used a filter or they used more nuanced colors vs we got just primary colors that couldn't mix into the range of shades of the online example. I've been getting their emails since the start of the pandemic and they really don't repeat designs much. At the end of the class the instructor asked for tips which I found awkward, they should just pay her more. You can order food and drinks while you were there but oh boy drinks (wine) were a 20 minute wait! The wait was so long each time I just assumed the bartender forgot. It's not like I saw her running in frequently to serve other people. They had two people bring in the drinks and my class was so small, maybe 10 people. Once when I was waiting for a drink she came by my table and asked if anyone needed anything and I'm like you can't see you have pending orders you need to make? Then she asked me what I ordered, umm...we each have an individual number on the easel in front of them. When my drink came the person asked my table whose is it, again it has an individual number on, you shouldn't have to ask that question. I'm tipping for service and not getting it. Once the instructor said it's break time because we were ahead of schedule and to order more snacks, so I did and of course it didn't come before we started again. They need a better system because we would order more drinks if they came in a timely manner. I could understand a backup before the class started, but during class most people were settled and not ordering at the same time. The Mediterranean Sampler was actually good, could have done without the carrots and added more carbs. I am drinking alcohol after all. read more

This is, as you might already have figured out, a chain sip-and-paint place. While the location is a bit hard to find (the mall is weird, not Muse's fault), the actual experience of painting is a LOT of fun, the staff are ultra-friendly, and the price of painting is surprisingly reasonable. I have been looking for a paint & sip class in the DMV/DC/NoVa area forever! I had such a great time here with my friend. We signed up about 4-5 days in advance for the class we wanted. Most classes are $35, but can vary $25-$45 depending on the class. You can request to be sat with your party if you are going with friends, this makes it very easy. Everyone has paint & brushes set up at each station when you arrive. I recommend arriving 15 minutes early to the class so you can get acclimated and get a drink if you want. There are aprons as well so you don't need to bring anything! The entrance is located in the open air space of the mall, "outside". It is next to the back entrance of the CVS, and about 75 feet from BASH fitness. The staff is so friendly, you don't need to have any art experience, they walk you through the painting step by step, with an instructor at the front, and other staff members to walk around during the class. 2 hours flew by and it was tons of fun. I will definitely be taking more classes. read more

This was such a fun date spot! The instructors are informative and give clear, helpful instructions so that even the least artistic people can create beautiful paintings! They set up and clean up everything for you as well, which is really convenient. My boyfriend and I did the Valentine's Day paint and sip, and I thought our paintings came out great, especially considering that I am not artistic at all. An all around great painting experience. Had such a fun date night at Muse Paintbar this week! I would highly recommend looking at their event calendar and signing up for a class asap. There are great teachers, fun music, delicious food and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)! Rachael was a very informative and easy to understand instructor. The music playlist had me singing and dancing at my seat for the entire painting session. I had the chicken and waffles and it was exactly what I was craving. The fried chicken was well seasoned and the Belgium waffles had just the right amount of sugar crystals. They have a wide selection of beverages. This was a super fun time! I knocked one star off for two reasons: 1. SUPER difficult to find this location. The area needs to establish signs. I was walking around Ballston Quarter like a lost kid, and the thing that saved my ass was another Yelp review explaining where to go! So thank you, fellow reviewer. If anyone is reading this and needs help: Go past the massive restaurant True Food, and don't go down the escalators to the food court (like I did at first), but go AROUND that, then through the doors to this lobby area. Go to the left, past Capital One, and through double sliding doors. It'll take you to a cute alley-like way that's partially outside, partially inside. Muse Paintbar is on the left. :) 2. I only ordered one appetizer for food, but it was a chips & dip trio-- salsa, guac, and cheese. One bite and I could tell, this stuff was definitely store bought. All of it. Salsa was 100% Tostitos from the jar, cheese was processed nacho cheese sauce, and guac was container guac. Chips were mostly crumbles. That was a bit disappointing, although a fine thing to snack on, but you expect it to be home made in-house at an event like this. On the bright side, I still had a wonderful time, and will return (and order a different food to try out)! The drinks were delicious-- we tried the Red Sangria and the Shirley-Moscato drink, both delicious. Painting was tons of fun. Anxiety inducing at first, for sure-- everyone feels like they're doing everything wrong. But that's the fun part, because at the end you're like, "Wholly crap, I did this!" The environment was super supportive and kind, the teacher was great and I tipped her well. I had lots of fun bringing along a good friend. :) I will advise to wear loose, breathable clothing! From the time we walked in we felt welcomed which was great because it made us feel comfortable. It was our first time coming here and it was pretty full. They start you with your own party. It's best to come with like a group of 4-6 but also cool for a date night. They have great food and drink options. No hard alcohol. Order fast becase they did sell out of certain food items. I really wanted to try the chicken but they were sold out and I opted for a pretzel bites with cheese. They came out fast and hot. Yum. We had a bottle of red wine which was reasonably priced and some seltzer's. The staff would come around To check on you and make sure that your experience was going well. The instructor was great by going at the speed of the group and funny too. Parking: This Muse Paintbar is located inside of Ballston Quarter. You can park in the garage and it's super cheap. Garage parking is only $1 for up to three hours. The time here will go fast because there's so many options after paint night we ended up having a couple more drinks. Such a fantastic activity and way to bring people together! We went for a corporate team building activity and had a fantastic time (could also see this being a great birthday, family/friend get together, bachelorette party celebration). Daniela, our host, was super helpful and provided us with great guidance to create our masterpieces (while also playing DJ and bartender). The music was great, Daniela did an amazing job teaching us and we all left with our own renditions of Van Gogh's Starry Night (many more options to choose from). I took my son and his friend to muse paint bar for a follow along drawing class. We had the Best time there! The studio is beautiful and colorful. The class was led by Daniela who was simply amazing. She gave the instructions nicely, was interactive and great with the these two young painters too. She clearly loves her job and it showed in her enthusiasm. Another instructor, Mustafa walked around offering his help and guidance if anyone was stuck at any point. That was very thoughtful. We loved the whole vibe and the way the class was run. My friend and I did a paint night and had a blast here! The stations were all set up when we arrived and they provided all the necessary equipment like apron, canvas, paint, brushes, etc. the instructor was super friendly and so was the staff member walking around to check on everyone / help everyone. Instructions were clear though my friend and I did think the pace was a bit fast at certain times (but we are also total newbies). It was also slightly difficult to see as we were sitting further in the back. But regardless, we were definitely pleasantly surprised by our end products because we didn't think we'd be able to do the painting at all and we really had a fun time! This was so fun! We went to paint your pet night. This was my first paint night and id definitely go back! The time flies by- we were painting from about 6-830 but doors opened at 5 i believe. They had a handful of food options - we got pizza and pretzel bites and both were great. The experience was very frustrating. The entire process was not well explained and the pacing of the instructions made it very difficult. We spent a lot of time early on taking breaks and "practicing" and then rushed through the end with the most important parts of the painting. While the instructor was very friendly, he lacked clarity and did not manage time well. The food was good but ended up being served after we started and it was impossible to eat while also following the instructions. By the time I had a chance to eat it was cold. The equipment was of inconsistent quality and some of the brushes needed to be replaced. This made certain parts of the painting very difficult because the damaged brush tips could not mimic the techniques we were being asked to do. Overall, I can't recommend this location. read more

I took my mom and daughter here to do something fun that would get us out of the Northern VA heat. It was definitely fun! We got the Mediterranean sampler which was hot tortilla chips with a good spice to them and some pita bread that was also super hot and crispy around the edges. The garlic hummus and dill dip that came with them were really good. Highly recommend getting this! My daughter loved her cinnamon sugar pretzel bites. I had a glass of peach Muscato that was delish. The service here is friendly and fun. I thought the guy who directed the artwork could have been a better artist (my 12 year old's looked way better than his but she is a good artist), but he had good energy, played fun music and did a great job as a "host". I told them when I made the reservation that my mom had vision issues and they put us front and center which was appreciated. I will definitely come back here next time I'm in town! read more

I already wrote a review for Muse for my first visit in late Dec 2022, but then I went back early Jan 2023 and had an even better experience, so I wanted to write that here now too! What elevated this experience to another level was our teacher, Nate Irving. He was very talented as both a teacher and an artist. He led us through the lesson not only with artistic skill, but also with great people skills...his empathy (which I'm a big fan of) came out as he told us how to mix colors, where to place things, told us we might feel rushed during this part or that part b/c he needed to guide us quickly so that we could blend before the paint dried, asked us when we wanted breaks, invited help/repetition of instruction from him, balanced music time and quiet time...as an "organized artist" myself I rarely meet other organized artists...but Nate certainly seemed like one and it made the class so very enjoyable! This place is amazing. My painting came out very average, but the teacher (Matt) was great. He was very good at his job and at the same time kept the painters entertained with his jokes. One person in my party messed up her painting so bad twice and Matt fixed it himself both times. I highly recommend going here to have a good time. Your painting will look nice, I promise. read more
