We were doing a little theme visit, arts and crafts. Earlier we made candles and then we headed to our afternoon reservation to make paint pottery at All Fired Up. Once we arrived we were instructed to pick out our piece we desired. We were seated at the front window, just the two if us. It was nice to sit with each other without others around. I chose two pieces, a topper for $13 and a strawberry container for I think $27. I felt the pricing was extremely reasonable especially since you used their glaze, they fire it, and they set up and clean up for you. They also offer a military discount, which handled around the cost of the tax. The staff were great. They were always making sure we were ok, without being to over the top. They kept things moving. . They do offer "private" parties and birthday parties. The set up was pretty nice, and quaint. There was a large table set in the back. While I was there there was two parties. Each party brought a cake and snacks. There are aprons available and an abundant selection of supplies available. It looks like they also do arts with glass. Parking can be tricky. So I suggest to leave time to navigate that, so you are not late for your appointment. We found street parking a few streets over. But, there was slot a lot where you paid.

The classes posted that I saw were for drawing,painting, and live model drawing. Some studio rooms were quite small, while other room were larger for classes/workshops. I came for the grand opening celebration. The founder's young son was greeting people at the door and giving a well rehearsed explanation of all they had to offer. I was impressed. It was quite fun going in all the rooms and meeting some of the artists. I hope to visit again soon... maybe partake in a class one day.

While you were painting, goodies were being passed out. You weren't judged or graded on your paintings, however you did receive compliments from the hosts, instructor, and guests. If you didn't want to paint you also had the option to just come and hang out and see what was going on. So at least for next time you can see if you want to paint or just hang out again. I wish I could do this again with Faded Strokes however I live in Texas. But if you live in the DMV area, I would definitely give it a try.

I liked that I did not have to purchase any supplies for this class. Now keep in mind you only come with what you brought; no brushes, paper, or paints were given away at the end. We had a small group and started off practicing watercolor techniques the first day and then jumped into small simple projects; still life, landscape, and abstract watercolors. As a beginner, I was in class with people who were professional artists who took the class as a hobby. I would have preferred to be in a class with newbies like me, so I could spend more time learning technique. But all and all I worked at my own pace and did not allow myself to be distracted by the years of experience of others. Our instructor Tye was kind, encouraging, and fun to work with. I would take another course here, they have plenty to choose from ceramics, printmaking, even a soap making course, and much more. Looking to be creative and meet some interesting people on a random weeknight, this might be your jam.
