I had notified them when booking that we were celebrating my birthday, and they put up a happy birthday background on the screen. Eli even took pictures of us pre-show in the game room. I was extremely touched by Eli and Britney's kindness and their above-and-beyond gestures! Britney presented me with a handwritten birthday card after the game show, and Eli gifted me with a t-shirt I was going to buy after the show. I hope they both know how special they made me feel; it truly warms my heart to have experienced their thoughtfulness, generosity, and kindness! I am FOREVER GRATEFUL and APPRECIATE ALL THAT THEY'VE DONE!! Now for the details: The game is an hour long, and if someone else books the same time slot, you may end up playing with random strangers, which we did. We definitely got our butts handed to us, but I still had fun! It consists of about 5-7 different randomized games. It's blue vs. red team, and the setup is in the style of a traditional TV game show, ranging from Jeopardy-style format to Wheel of Fortune, trivia, Family Feud, and Idiotest, etc. You really do feel like you're on a TV game show with a live host, buzzers, a big wheel to spin, and confetti exploding at the end! They do have some physical games; however, we had to forego those to be fair to the other team, which had a teammate on crutches. Britney was a lot of fun--super patient and considerate! I got a kick out of having to fill out the scantron with a big a#$ pencil. Make sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to your time slot. They have plenty of free games to play while you wait, and they have a bar to purchase beverages or you can ask for tap water. The Escape Game is also located in the building, and they have merchandise for sale, as well as merch for the Great Big Game Show. They have really cool shirts and hats available! At the end of the show, they offer 15 or 20% off your next booking. I'm not sure if there's an expiration date, but I hope not because I would love to come back. However, we live in VA Beach, so it's quite a drive. They do have restrooms. Parking is available in various parking garages among Georgetown. We paid to park in the lot next to RIMTANG which is really close.

Our host was super energetic and engaging which added to the overall great experience. Definitely a great activity for team building. If you're in to trivia, brush up on it and try out the Great Big Game Show. There is an option to buy drinks, but there is no food so keep that in mind!

I'll be honest; this isn't typically my kind of activity. But it's been on my "I guess I should try…read morethis at least once" list, so when one of my new friends picked it for her birthday, I said why not...and I'm actually glad I did! We had 7 of us total (supposed to be 8, but one friend couldn't make it), and split into two teams: 3 vs. 4. BABY!!! Teamwork is not optional here You need communication, quick thinking, and a good sense of humor because you will be stressed and laughing at the same time. We went through 4 different escape rooms: won some, lost some, but the real win was the experience. The friendly competition between both teams made it even better. It was giving "we are NOT losing to y'all" energy the whole time Now let's talk about the finale...THE PAINT BOMB. The white hazard suits?? The chaos?? The fun?? 10/10. That was easily my favorite part. Overall, it took about an hour, which was perfect for a group activity, not too long, not too short. My only con: the communication about the photos/videos. Apparently, you have to opt into text messages to receive your paint bomb pics, and nobody clearly explained that. Most of us opted out because...hello, spam?? So my group didn't get our content while the other team did. We had to go on a whole mini investigation and track someone down, which wasted time. BUT I will say that the staff was super helpful, and the manager ended up finding our files and sending everything the next day. So, it worked out, but it could've been explained way better upfront. Also, yes, they serve food and drinks (including alcohol), so if you're trying to make it a full "outside" moment, you absolutely can. We skipped it since we had a late lunch reservation right after, but the option is there if you're trying to get a little litty... Would I do it again? Maybe not regularly, but for a birthday, group outing, or something different...

Trying to figure out who could help us, each team member seemed like it was someone else's job. When I asked who the forms were up on the screen they said oh thats a different team and then had to get the correct forms up for us. The lockers were super difficult to figure out and had to have another team member come over and help. The games were challenging not because of the puzzles but because of the technology used. in one of the games you had to put your wrist band up to the scanner but the scanner didn't work causing us to lose more time. The last problem was that the haz mat suits did not work on keeping the liquid out. I was completely soaked from the waist down. I'm not even sure how that was possible. I will pass on this experience in the future unless someone truly wants to go and I can be assured that the games have been fixed and updated.

It's easy to get to and appreciate that parking is simple via the attached garage (albeit the garage is interesting and could be the scene of a horror film). There are ample food options as well since this place is nestled in Ballston with the outdoor area on Wilson crawling with restaurants. If you need something quick, fast casual spots and fast food in general are offered in the food court inside of the mall. Now for the actual game review. It's best to book in advance online. Things are super easy and much faster; you also do not have to pick a game right away. So far I've played the Floor is Lava, a more family oriented one with my nephew, and most recently Squid Games with my nieces. Note that the latter is better suited for older kids. My youngest niece who is 5 had a couple of issues maneuvering her avatar during Squid Games. Of the three I played, Squid Games has been my favorite, naturally. Youngest niece kept dying every time she stepped foot. I was telling her to go left go left and she screamed back at me that she hadn't learned left or right yet, then proceeded to get picked off. Game aside, please note you are welcome to purchase drinks from the room. If you are playing a game that's more than 30 mins, note you will need water. There is a lot of moving around. Also note, sadly the water is Dasani so prepare to have your tastebuds assaulted.

I went with my niece and was genuinely surprised by how much fun we had! The games were interactive, challenging, and a total blast. We laughed a lot, got competitive, and I'm pretty sure people in the other rooms (or "boxes") could hear us having a great time. I'm really glad we gave it a try, and I'd definitely go back. If you have kids or are looking for a unique family outing, I'd say the passes are well worth it. One quick tip: Know exactly where you're going before you arrive. I didn't realize the location is on the outside of the mall, which wasn't a big issue for me, but it could be frustrating if you're tight on time. The confirmation emails do a solid job providing directions--if you're driving and parking. But if you're getting dropped off (like I was via Uber), the signage and location can be a little tricky to spot. A minor hiccup, but something to be aware of.
