The nurse who took my measurements and dilated my eyes was extremely rude. My husband, concerned that the drops being used might worsen my condition, asked a simple question, and instead of reassurance, her response was snarky: "It's protocol." To put this in perspective, I was dealing with a painful stye that had turned into cellulitis and had already been suffering for three days. Rather than feeling cared for, I felt dismissed. The entire office had the atmosphere of a factory--patients processed as quickly as possible with little regard for comfort or understanding. This was one of the most impersonal medical experiences I've ever had, and I would strongly recommend steering clear of this practice.

I've been traveling more than 2 hours to my previous doctor because I was so happy with that physician. However, a few months ago, I was suffering with a serious eye irritation and pain which caused me to call their Pawleys Island office for assistance. The attendant who took my call, captured as much information as I could provide, then had me come in to be seen. When I arrived, I only needed to present my insurance card and sign 1 form because the Physician's Assistant I spoke with on the phone had already filled in the rest!! Because they shifted other appointments to see me, I only waited 5-10 minutes to be seen by Dr. Blankenship. During my visit, Dr. Blankenship did a thorough exam of my eyes, prescribed the necessary medicine and gave me sufficient eye moistening drops to avoid me having to buy it. I made sure I was as comfortable as possible during the entire visit. I just cannot say enough great things about Dr. Blankenship and the entire team. Needless to say, I have finally found my new eye care professional and have since had my first annual eye exam with Dr. Blankenship.
