I was in dire need to patch my jeans before a hole developed in them, and my mom recommended Murray's. Stopped by and was able to get 3 sets of 2 patches for $8. The lady working the front desk was super helpful, and when we were in the store it looks like they have a plethora of different sewing machines, and fabrics if you're interested in quilting. read more

Went here for some supplies and being new to crafts involving needle and thread, didn't know where to begin. The owners were so helpful and patient. They helped me locate items and also answered lots of questions. They were kind and polite to other shoppers as well. I'll definitely go back. Huge selection of everything you could need all tidily presented. Great selection of fabrics. Tons of sea themed patterns as well. Just a great local business all around. read more

Bought a Husquavarna sewing machine in November '20. I'd much prefer to give 5 but every time I use this machine , in reverse, it can't do it and jams up the fabric. I took it back to the store twice and was made to feel "wrong or stupid", like "you don't know how to use it correctly ". That was the implication on both occasions. There was NO offer to take it back or assist, rather he offered me a $6,000 machine, like "if you would just spend more you'd get a decent machine." The women who work there are lovely. The male owner on the other hand leaves much to be desired. I'd leave a complaint for Husquavarna but can't figure out how. I'd never recommend buying a machine at Murray's. I'll just buy thread and fabric on occassion. Bill knows he has the market cornered on The Outer Cape so he can be arrogant as he wants to be. read more

Needed supplies. Did not want to travel all the way to Hyannis to shop at a large retail outlet. They were not only friendly, but also very helpful in answering questions and giving me guidance on how best to complete my project. They had everything I needed. Would not have been as successful without their assistance. When I realized I had drastically over purchased a few items, they handled it with the same friendly and courteous manner. Glad to be able to support local shops when they deliver as well as Murrays did. read more

Great fabric & quilt store, definitely worth the drive. Large selection of fabrics (especially for quilting), thread and notions. Friendly, helpful staff. Front porch has all the sale and reduced-price fabrics ..... don't worry about it being hot because once you actually enter the store it is cool & air conditioned. They also sell & service sewing machines, and have a long-arm on premises. read more

I just bought the top of the line Bernina, the 880 Plus! I am so happy! Bill and his staff made the whole process a fun experience. I even opened the boxes in his store and enjoyed about 2 days of learning under their expertise and assistance! Buying the sewing/embroidery/quilting machine of your dreams is even better at Murray's Fabrics of Orleans. The Bernina 880 Plus is a delight to work with. I also wanted the stitch creator/editor and I am so happy! There is nothing on earth like sitting down at an excellent sewing machine. It's quiet, fast as you want, and a delight. Smooth sailing! Power to handle everything from leather to silk to the thinnest lightest sheer fabric you may want. I enjoy embroidery, quilting and making clothes. I also sew my own curtains. I make beautiful, decorative vests and matching skirts a lot. { Also I usually make a special seam that helps when it is needed to modify something, because my weight is a personal roller-coaster}. I enjoying sewing so much, and the best machine top of the line, makes life fantastic. Murray's makes it even more fun because Bill and his staff are so excellent and kind. read more

I drove down to Murray's just because of the 2014 Massachusetts Row by Row Experience, a National Quilting Shop Hop. They have an awesome row and I was so looking forward to checking out the store as we go thru Orleans a few times a year. The shop had run out of the license plate, short on pattern instructions, and low on the kits for the row. While there are an amazing array of fabrics and one of the sales people was very friendly and upbeat. The one who waited on me was not. If it was only for their attitude I would not return to this shop. But hubby is very much into Hoffman Fabrics and they have a wonderful selection. So, I will go back and check it out once again. read more

Just left Murrys...the nicest friendliest most helpful people work there!!! So refreshing to be treated so well. I'm sad I've already forgotten her name :/ because she deserves the recognition! But this wonderful lady helped me for about an hour looking over a very old serger that I came across the other day. So much patience and gave me the most helpful advice regarding my sewing project. I'm truly grateful and will give Murrys all of my future sewing business for as long as I am on the Cape! read more

I discovered this wonderful fabric quilt shop while vacationing on Cape Cod this summer... They have a large selection of interesting fabrics and I found a collection to use for my new quilt! Their staff was friendly and very helpful. I will look forward to visiting again sometime when I get to go to the other coast again ( I live on the Pacific coast)! I just hope they still have some of the fabric I purchased because I didn't get enough. read more

As a visitor from the UK, I was really excited to find this lovely shop with such a wonderful collection of fabrics and lovely staff. I have to return home on Monday but I will definitely be making a few more purchases there before leaving the Cape!
