Great time tonight here at Murphy's. Wing night Tuesday with bone-in wings and boneless bites. We got an order of boneless to go at the special price, so that was awesome...and so were the bites when I tried them later at home. The bartenders were attentive and friendly towards us newcomers in this neighborhood establishment. Bonus points for asking if we wanted the wings extra crispy! They were and they tasted great!!! Friendly atmosphere here in Swoyersville and we hope to come back to try some more menu items at very fair prices. Table top so sticky our glasses stuck to it! Lots of dust. Chicken wing sauce is tasty but very runny. Both of our orders were wrong. Unsweetened iced tea basically tastes like water. No longer has entertainment on the weekends. Nice outdoor enclosed patio area. read more

A hometown bar where you truly feel at home! I have been coming here for almost a decade and each time you are met with smiling, attentive and welcoming staff, awesome (and great prices) food and drink, and an overall great atmosphere. The food is GREAT- i suggest Mac and cheese, pizza, any of the wings, crab dip, all of it! This has been one of my favorite places for years and I'm so happy they are back in action amidst COVID, while still making you feel safe with the caution they take to protect their guests. I have to give Murphy's 5 stars, because I found nothing wrong with the place. Friendly atmosphere. Even though I'm not a local, I did not feel out of place or unwelcome, like some local bars I've been to. The bartenders were very helpful for suggesting food. Beer and food reasonably priced. Wings were crispy and delicious. Several sauces to choose from. I'm a wing man, but they have alot to choose from. I will be back again when in the area for work. read more

My favorite place to go when I return to my hometown. Always so welcoming, friendly, and attentive! I have been there with a packed bar (pre-covid times) and their staff members are ALWAYS working as hard as they can for the customers. We went when it was decorated for the holidays, and that only added to the Irish pub theme. It was a gorgeous place to eat delicious food. Tuesday night is THE wing night. $5.00 for 14 wings. How can you beat that. Great sauce choices. I went for their special on the cajun Garlic Ranch sauce. I would recommend it. I absolutely love this place. The staff are great. Friendly, get to know you. They make sure your food is done the way you want. I'm a snob about Wings, and this place has the best sin the area. I have been coming to Murphy's since the mid 1990's. It changed ownership a few years ago. The place is still decorated as an Irish Pub. The menu is a typical pub menu. BUT- the music box plays songs with Profanity. F this; F that, etc. No longer a Family oriented atmosphere. I'm Out! read more

Murphy's is normally 1 of 5 top picks to always grab food. From the apps , to the chicken wing bites , to the burgers they never seem to disappoint. Tonight though, my boyfriend and I ordered and it was one of the worst experiences we had. We ordered 6 cuts of so Sicilian , waffle fries and a chicken cheese steak.. We placed the order and were told to pick it up in 40 minutes.. We got there with 5 Minutes to spare, pay for it and take it straight home.. Open the container and the fries are cold, greasy and soggy, the pizza looked like the pizza you got at school lunch...and tasted that way too and we all know what that is... The chicken cheese steak was my boyfriend ( and he will eat a about anything ) and he wasn't satisfied.. The chicken was suppose to be shredded and there were large chicken bites that were too chewy to even swallow , the bun was soggy and there wasn't enough wing sauce on the chicken / sub .. Normally there food is SPOT ON but tonight was just a turn off. read more

This was filtered , I guess the owner doesn't like to hear the truth and why is it allowed to be filtered by Yelp when others need to know what our experience at this place was..Thia was NOT malicious, just the truth.. I heard that a chef owned this restaraunt , I do not think he is doing the cooking. Shrimp and Clams Fra Diavlo? They were out of shrimp, did all clams, the sauce was marinara and hot sauce. The nachos we ordered were left under the heat lamp till the cheese melted to the bottom and the chips were black, once the plate cooled the cheese was a hard mass. The attempt at house made salsa was appreciated but the result was just diced tomatoes and onions, no flavor at all. The prime rib sandwich was tasteless and paper thin. The onion rings were burnt -black.The server brought out two burnt items and never said a word. As I am in this business, I never send food back when I go to a new place, I like to take in the experience and figure out if this is a pretty standard evening and it was. I observed the other diners meals and the lackluster service and could see this was status quo an no one expected anything more. Omg, it smells like stale beer from the prohibition. The stench that hits you when you walk in here is debilitating. I think it's the "so called" carpet. Whatever it is, its strong and potent. Not even sure why we stayed. We ordered mild wings and I asked for them extra crispy. They were the farthest thing from it. Rubbery and soggy. Also got broccoli cheese soup that was puréed more than baby food. Beer was flat. What a disappointing meal. I work too hard for experiences like this. That's why I'm warning you. read more
