I didn't try Murphy's ice cream until my third visit to Dublin. But on my last night a couple of weeks ago, I had some extra time and I was close by so I decided to finally try it before heading back to my hotel for the night. The line was out the door, but I wasn't in a rush, so I didn't mind. The night was on the warmer side, and there was a beautiful sunset. I did read some reviews while waiting in line, and many people commented on the price and the few flavors. I am of the opinion that if you are a visitor, especially to a capital city, you are going to have to expect to pay higher prices for things. Also, this ice cream is handmade in Dingle, so you're also paying for quality - and I like that there aren't 20 or 30 flavors! We've become too spoiled and overstimulated with choices. Back to the business! The workers, all college-age, I imagine, were very friendly and every once in a while walked down the line offering samples and answering questions. They were extra kind and patient with the children and older people. That means a lot to me. It honestly was the happiest long line I've ever waited in - but I've noticed that about Ireland in general - that's why I keep going back! I ended up getting a small cone with 2 scoops - chocolate whiskey (awesome!!) and brown bread, they were both unique flavors and tasted good. The texture was very creamy. My total was 7.50, I paid 8, and the 0.50 she returned to me I put in the tip jar. The experience and ice cream were worth it to me.
During our guided beer and food tour of Ireland, one of the stops was the Murphy's Ice Cream parlor. So we took a break from beer and food and moved on to our final desert, a cold creamy cup of ice cream, and I wasnt complaining. They offer an optional waffle cone and ice cream sandwiches. This parlor was slammed with customers but we secured a private table for our small group in the back. The twelve flavors looked promising which included Raspberry, Jasmine Green Tea, Mango, Butterscotch, Honeycomb Caramel and a few others. With great anticipation, the server placed a cup of the Dingle Sea Salt mixed with the Irish Brown Bread. The rich creamy ice creams were a perfect combo.
On a rainy summer night just before closing, we were able to sample most of the current flavors and then bought four scoops (two medium cups with two flavors each). I can't back up the claim that they are the best ice cream in Ireland but I can tell you I liked it very much. Clearly made with fresh and high quality ingredients, it's lighter and fluffier than most American ice cream -- less rich and less sweet as well. Honeycomb caramel -- excellent and likely my favorite, the pieces of honeycomb give it a nice crunch Sea salt -- their most popular. Allegedly made from sea water collected at Bín Bán beach in dingle. Also excellent Chocolate Whiskey -- some whiskey ice creams only have a hint of the flavor but this one is quite strong, perhaps even overpowering. Strawberry -- very good. I might call this strawberry cream as it was the creamiest of all I tried Irish Brown Bread -- the first taste was sugary but it grew on me. I wish I had a bit more for final judgement. Mango Sorbet -- the only flavor I can't vouch for. Perhaps on a hot day. Would definitely get Murphys again.
Absolutely loved this cute shop! From the neon and highlighted colors and de or in andnoutside to the wonderful tasting ice-cream. The lady inside was a sweet heart and I went with my usual vanilla ice cream and all color sprinkles. The ice cream here tasted fresher and creamer. It was a true delight.
I love Murphy's! Their flavors are simple but unique, and there's not that many to choose from - meaning they do those few flavors well. We were strolling around the Grafton Street area and passed by Murphy's. It was a Friday, around 3:30. Even though it was busy, and a bit chaotic, the employees still took the time to greet us and even talk to us for a bit. Maybe that's a requirement if you want to work at Murphy's - that you have to be friendly, because we went to the Cork location and they were very nice there as well. Or maybe everyone in Ireland is just nice and I'm just a jaded New Yorker. Anyway, we went with a classic - the Dingle Sea Salt. It was very smooth and clean-tasting. If the ice cream shop was closer to our hotel, we definitely would have went (at least) once a day. So maybe it's a good thing that it wasn't!
When in Dublin, you must get yourself a scoop of Murphy's Ice Cream. I first heard about Murphy's through Somebody Feed Phil, one of my favorite travel food shows. The flavors are pretty unique, each one having its own Irish twist to it. Flavors like Irish brown bread, Irish cream liqueur, and Dingle sea salt are all reasons why you should stop here during your trip to Ireland - you won't be able to find anything like it anywhere else! I opted for one scoop of the honeycomb caramel and one scoop of the chocolate whiskey. Both were absolutely delicious! The service here is great, the staff is very patient and generous with samples. The kind person working the counter even gave me an umbrella that had been left abandoned for a while, as I was soaked from walking in the rain. That was really sweet and I appreciated it so much. This shop is small with no real seating areas so I would recommend coming here and planning to walk around with your cup or cone. There's plenty to see nearby anyways.
Love love love Murphy's. This location is no different from the others, with a friendly staff and basically the same menu. This one does have a couple of tables in the back and a bathroom downstairs, which is good considering how crowded this location gets. Almost every flavor is a hit (I'm not a fan of rhubarb or marmalade, but everyone's different). Again, would recommend Dingle sea salt and honeycomb caramel. Both balance each other very well!
Maybe the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. No exaggeration. Everyone in the family tried different flavors, but my favorite was the Dingle Gin. They told me they just "dump a bottle of Dingle Gin into the ice cream maker" and that's exactly what it tastes like! If you're a gin-lover like me, this will make your day... and maybe even your year.
Best Irish ice cream I dublin. Everything is made from fresh and natural ingredients. This ice cream really highlights how great Irish dairy is. The ice cream prices range from ~€6-9 I think. The service is extremely friendly and fun, you could taste samples before u make ur picks. They also have some seats, which is great for when it's too cold outside. They also have some ice cream pints to go and they sell small souvenir items as well. The flavors are great, they change up a couple of them every couple of months. Best ice cream in dublin in my opinion. It's a must try for sure!
At the recommendation of one of our day trip tour guides, my partner and I sought this ice cream spot out while we were in Dublin, Ireland. Their place was nice and clean. The staff were very friendly & were asking folks in line which flavor they want to sample which we thought was a genius move. The ice cream was so yummy that we went to this spot 3x in one week. If you happen to be in Dublin - do yourself a favor and check them out!! Thank me later lol
Unique and fresh ingredients, friendly staff, and homemade batch taste keeps me coming back to Murphy's Ice Cream with every visit and has me dreaming about it when I am not in Ireland. Seriously have not found anything like it in the US, but it's been fun trying Pro tip: try a scoop of the Irish Brown Bread and Dingle Gin together for a true taste of Ireland

Nice little tourist trap, according to the locals, but I also saw this on "somebody feed Phil". Regardless, the handmade ice cream here is very good. Get to try free samples. We tried dingle sea salt, raspberry, coffee bean, honeycomb caramel, dingle gin & pink peppercorn. Eventually ordered a large cone with a scoop of dingle gin & pink peppercorn, honeycomb caramel, and coffee bean. read more
Hands down this was the best ice cream place in Dublin. There are so many ice cream shops but this place has the best flavors and as their staff informed us, they don't add any colors to make it look like the flavor your ordered. It is all natural and the flavors so yummy. I tried the Honeycomb Caramel with the Dingle Sea Salt. These flavors were both exceptional and the Dingle sea salt was just the right amount of sweet cream with the salt it went perfectly with the honeycomb caramel that has pieces of honeycomb. They allow you to have 2 flavors and the small size was just the right amount for us. Their staff was all very nice and sweet when we were ordering since it was our first time. Dingle sea salt is by fav my favorite flavor here followed by caramel honeycomb and kieran's cookies. I wasn't a huge fan of the brown bread, but can see why it's popular. The medium is a nice size for one, and the large is a great splurge size option! read more

Get. The. Brown. Bread. Ice cream!!! You will thank me later!! We got the brown Brea and their version of cookies and cream. Both were delish but that brown bread. I dream about it. Extremely nice staff that was so helpful! Went here after watching Somebody Feed Phil and I'm so glad we did! Worth it and wish we could have it shipped to the states that's how good it is read more
Freshest tasting, most original flavors of ice cream I have ever tasted. Wow! Brown bread is served with almost everything in Ireland. Its hearty, sweet and spiced. To crumble it up and stuff it in ice cream is truly genius. Now about the sea salt, I'd go back for a bucket. They literally get Dingle salt water from the beach and boil it down until the salt in the water begins to crystalize. Then add the salt to their ice cream base. Again, pure genius. I think I can eat a whole bucket. read more

Hmmm, I have conflicting feelings about Murphy's. I know it's supposed to be super popular. I even saw it featured on Netflix, but I will say; service was fantastic. It's one of the things I love about Ireland, is how serviceable people seem to be in the majority of places you go to. They genuinely want you to enjoy ice cream here. However, I tried several flavors and while it's good, I can't say it's the best ice cream I've ever had, it's kinda pricey as well. I was really looking forward to loving the brown bread flavor but I admit I felt let down. I couldn't taste anything that resembled it, it was just sweet to me. I ended up buying the Irish coffee flavor, it was good, but that's about it. read more

A taste of Ireland, but prepared to get lost in the sweetness. Stopped by and while waiting on line, the amazing staff members were just thrilled to give us as much samplings as we'd like. I've probably tried a handful of them and narrowed it down to the Elderflower and Dingle Gin flavors, both of which were very fragrant and blended well as they both melted. Dingle Gin is apparently the heart and soul of Ireland's gin--I've never had it myself, but I suppose the taste of the ice cream someone resembles what it tastes like: earthy, if that's even an adjective used to describe food. It balances out so well with the Elderflower, which was subtly fragrant. I suppose this is also the part where I should bullshit and profess that I know a thing about fresh Irish cream and claim that I can taste the freshness of the milk from the Irish cows, but I really don't know jack about that stuff. If you've ever wanted to try ice cream that pay homage to some of Ireland's most prized national treasures (minus Colin Farrell), you are in it for a real treat here. read more

I finally got to taste this sweet treat here in Dublin. They have a few locations throughout Ireland with the original from Dingle, but this site was in the middle of the shopping district. You are welcome to try some samples before making your decision which was great for me. Their autumn selection seemed pretty standard but all pretty tasty. My bf went with the smooth chocolate flavor which tasted like frozen chocolate candy. Thick and definitely sweet. I got a mixture of the Irish coffee made with Irish whiskey and crunchy caramel ice cream. I loved mixing the flavors, it was a great treat to end the night. read more
You scream, I scream, we all scream for ICECREAM! I was recommended this shop by a local and WOW! I was completely mind-blown by the amazing flavors and texture this icecream had. They say the cows and water that make this tasty treat are better in Ireland, and I truly believe them. I ended up ordering the caramel and sea salt icecream in a sundae on multiple occasions, no shame... Plus, the staff is beyond accommodating and always asks if you'd like to try any of their flavors, such as gin, or sorbets. You can't go wrong with any flavor. If I had more time in Ireland, I would've ate them alll! read more

If you want something cool in Dublin, check out Murphy's Ice Cream. My friend and I went on a Sunday afternoon over the summer and there was a small line out the door. No worries though! The servers are out there constantly asking if you want free samples and the free samples were limitless. I wasn't planning on getting any but they got me with those free samples. I tried the sea salt and I was hooked. Had to get a cup, coupled with the raspberry sorbet. The raspberry was so refreshing! Their ice cream is super creamy. So flavorful and true to their flavor description. Great quality ! read more

Before visiting Ireland, I was told that I needed to try local ice cream. Something special about Irish cows and milk. I was blown away by Murphy's! The staff was so friendly and offered me a ton of samples to try and explained the flavors. I wanted them all but ultimately settled on Irish Coffee and Sea Salt. It was amazingly cream, fresh, and nothing like the ice cream in the Unite States! Be sure to stop by Murphy's if you're in Ireland! read more

Tried the irish salt and irish shortbread? Was it? I forgot but the bread wasnt good enough for me. The irish salt was super good in my opinion. Sweet and salty byt more to sweet and it made it very sublime and very delicious. Recommended and its not a tourist trap! Cheers! read more
