If this is your 1st time in Wrigleyville or your millionth time in Wrigley Ville, Murphy's bleachers is a must stop! It is the closest bar to the bleachers and it is a staple of the neighborhood! It has one of the best outdoor sections that is closest to Wrigley Field! The music is always good because of the jukebox. They have Porto potty's in the back so if you have to go to the bathroom; it is easy to go at least for guys. read more

I can NOT believe that I have just gone to Murphy's for the first time last week after a Cubs game. I had the best time here and met some great Chicago folks. People that I wouldn't mind hanging out with again. Perhaps, they will read my review and look me up. I love the city of Chicago, I love the people of Chicago and I love a good place to hang out in Chicago. I'm from the burbs (duh), and can see myself coming out here on a weekend to hang out at Murphy's. I was here after a Cub's game, so the place was packed, but I was able to get great service with hundreds of people throughout the joint. We grabbed some snacks from their late night food bar (if you will) and couldn't believe that we could get frickin' tater tots at midnight. Rock and Roll! We hung out on the patio while we snacked and chatted the night away with our new pals celebrating at a "divorce party". Loved those guys! Drinks were reasonably priced for Chicago and the place was surprisingly clean considering the massive amount of people that were in and out of this place all night. Go Murphys go! read more

Rolled through on a Saturday night for a buddy's birthday... pretty good draft selection, the music was bumpin' and they had the UC Irvine basketball game on! Go Eaters! But, the one thing that ruined it for me was how crappy the service was... I literally tried to get the attention of 2 of the 3 bartenders for 10 minutes and none of them would give me the time of day. Super frustrating as the bar wasn't even at capacity but I felt like I was intentionally being ignored. My girlfriend ended up getting the attention of the 3rd bartender on the other end of the bar and signaled me to come over for drinks. Prices were pretty nice as I recall I paid around $5 per draft beer and $7 per shot. In short, the lack of service ruined what could've been a good time... Murphy's Bleachers makes my favorite bloody mary in Chicago. This is a bold, bold statement but it's true for me. I must stop here before each Cubs game. Expensive drink prices but a lot of good food options at a great price! Giant pretzels for $4 and burgers for just a bit more. Plus there's plenty of seating both inside and out on their two different patios. There are TVs in every corner which make watching the Cubs games pretty easy. Bloody Mary Bar. they have a backroom for private groups, this appears to be the gathering spot for NC State fans. This was my hang out in Chicago. They really treat you like family here. The staff is very professional and will do anything to make your visit the best! I had my graduation party here and the waitress not only had to take care of my party but also the rest of the restaurant and she did a PHENOMENAL job! While I know I am forgetting names: Kelly, Bridgett, Rachel, Patrick, Freddy and the entire staff really helped make my visits to Murphys memorable. I really appreciate the establishment and I definitely recommend it to all of my friends that are visiting Chicago. It is a must go to. This review is for Murphy's Bleachers in the context of a private party I threw in January. The Murphy's team was great at helping me plan a fantastic event in their back bar. The cost per head for a food package plus beer and wine was very reasonable, and they had no issues with my bringing in a photo booth, cake (it was a birthday party), and my own decorations. They were very accommodating and the entire party was fantastic. The food was great. We did the "Baseball Package" of stadium favorites like hot dogs, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. Everyone was impressed with how high quality everything was, and there was plenty to eat throughout the timeline of our private party. The bar package I purchased was also very generous for the price and our bartender was awesome. The staff was super friendly and accommodating to anything we needed. Extra bonus points for the karaoke after 10 pm - what a blast. Everybody kept telling me what a great party it was and I give all the credit to the entire staff of Murphy's. I would absolutely recommend Murphy's for any private event or party, especially in the winter when the Wrigleyville crowd is smaller and you have more room to stretch out. read more

Kind of an open air bar with a few bar locations hidden inside that can become very crowded the closer to game time you get. I wasn't overly impressed with the beer selections but that's not why you come here, you come here to congregate with your friends. My suggestion would be to get there at least 3 hours prior to the game if you even want to have a chance at grabbing a stool or seat outside. Otherwise forget about it. A North Side institution! Surprisingly large, with a ton of outdoor seating, this is THE place to pre-game for a Cubs game. Though I'm not a huge fan of their food (pretty typical Wrigleyville bar food), the ever-rotating craft beer selection is always a treat, and they have the best Cubs memorabilia everywhere. There is an initial "gruffness" to the staff, but that's part of their Chicago appeal, not to mention, they do have to deal with throngs of people in various states of drunkenness and idiocy on game days. Wrigleyville has that reputation for a reason, and it's not because of anyone who works at any of the bars there. If you don't be a jerk and show them the same respect you'd want for yourself, then you'll discover they are great people and will make you feel welcome every time... unlike some other places in the area. Inside tip: Try to come in the off season. One of the best, low-key experiences is to sit with a group of friends by the fireplace, or at a table by the huge windows on Waveland watching an afternoon NHL game. Try to avoid coming here when there are Wrigleyville pub crawls - you will be annoyed - but sitting outside, across from Wrigley's bleacher marquee is a must-do experience at least once in your life... or often, since it never gets old for me. read more

What's not to love about Murphy's bleachers? - next to the Wrigley Field bleacher entrance - great beer on tap (including 3 Floyd's) - large beer garden - great pre/post game spot for cubs games - overall great party. This has been my go to place for pre/post cubs games since I turned 21 and will always be a Wrigley Field staple. I'd recommend getting a hot dog here before a game, they're half of the price as the ones in the ballpark. I'll be coming back here forever and hoping they soon get zombie dust flowing! read more

Lincoln Towing Supporter/ Lincoln dba Protective Parking Corporation I was towed from the Murphy's lot on the corner of Sheffield and Waveland that Murphy's leases for use by their patrons. I just drove up from Indianapolis to drop my son off, who lives across from Murphy's. We usually grab a sandwich at Murphy's and I drive back to Indy. We arrived 10 minutes before Murphy's opened at 11 am so I helped my son with his luggage and washed up. I came down at 11 am to go to Murphy's and my car was gone. Less than 10 minutes for the car to be towed. I didn't go to Murphy's because I had to get my car. We met a Lincoln towing employee standing in the lot who confirmed they just towed my car. We took an Uber to the lot and waited 15 minutes for my car to arrive. I don't know where they were with my car. I paid the $218 tow bill and called Murphy's and told them what happened. They manager apologized and said it was out of his hands and offered to buy us lunch. Unacceptable, but I don't see anything changing, but thought I'd provide possible future patron's the information that Murphy's uses and supports Lincoln Towing. When I went back to Murphy's I saw a Lincoln tow truck parked behind the bar and the driver sitting inside. It appears the Lincoln driver's hide their truck behind the bar and wait for someone to leave their vehicle and then hook up their car as quick as possible and tow it to their lot and get paid $218. Interesting business model. Then I read up on the business and saw similar practices over the years. Too bad some local businesses support this business model. Had always had at least a decent experience here until 11/9/16. Made the obligatory visit to Wrigleyville post-World Series before making a trip down to the White Sox park for a MAC football game. We stopped in to Murphys about 1pm to grab a beer and just take in the sights. We got there during the lunch rush and most of the seats were taken but it wasn't packed or even crowded. We stood at the front bar for about five minutes waiting to be served and tying to get the attention of one of the two bartenders that we saw. They made eye contact with us but didn't acknowledge us. After five minutes a couple sitting at the bar got up to leave and offered us their seats. We sat at the bar and had our money out and again had multiple bartenders make eye contact but never said a word to us. In the ten minutes we sat at the bar, they went back to some of the same tables multiple times. I am sure there were customers who asked for more ketchup and then needed pepper and now needed a water and stuff. I get it. All I wanted was to be acknowledged. We even looked at the t-shirts they had in the bar and considered buying koozies to add to our collection. Maybe they still have the "We were way too busy the last month" hangover and don't need the business or just expect it because of the proximity? I'm not fully sure. After a total of 15 minutes there and attempting to get someone's attention and never being acknowledged, we left. Maybe it is just tourists, like us, that go here. And I won't be in Chicago for another six months so my lost business won't hurt a Bar that sits outside center field of the World Champions. I get it. This place is awesome for what it's best utilized for, which is obviously during a Cubs game for libations and ball park food. When there's thousands of fans in the area you have to realize you're not going to get top notch, super efficient service at any bar you go to within a certain radius of the field. Don't get me wrong, they're doing the best they can and the people here have been nothing but friendly and efficient, but they're just doing their best to make the over packed vicinity as happy as possible as quickly as possible. That being said, this is my favorite bar in Wrigleyville to go to before or during Cubs games. They have a pretty large outdoor space which is great on nice days, and the inside is fairly spacious too. The beverages seem to be pretty fairly priced given the location and the food is really good quality for the ball park menu they have. I personally can vouch for the tater tots, they're crisp and perfectly golden brown. If you're looking for a bar right next to Wrigley that's got a large variety of drinks available, good vibes, ample space, and just an overall fun environment this is the place for you. read more

Well, from my experience Murphy's is one of the better options if you don't want to get in a fight with some drunkard who's just looking for trouble. Could be because the place is about 80 years old, but it definitely tends to draw a bit of a more sophisticated crowd. (As if there is such a thing on game day.)
