Couple points I would like to highlight: 1) The office is new, clean, bright and equipped with the latest dental technology. Unlike other offices which may use outdated equipment, I feel like this dentist invested alot of money to make sure she had the latest technology and facility to ensure maximum comfort. 2) Receptionists are cheery, welcoming, and nice. I came with my 9 month old and they took care of my restless baby while I was getting my treatment done. 3) Dentist is very knowledgable. She not only has her DDS but got her Ph.D from VCU's school of dentistry. I found her explanation of the problem and course of treatment to be very thorough and clear. Her clinical skills are also very, very good. It was smooth and painless during the treatment and I'm very happy with my experience. Two thumbs up. FYI- this place is located in Millworks, the same plaza as the Midlothian library and Urban Farmhouse.

They know how to process insurance and they handle appointments very well (for rescheduling calling the office works better than online communication). Except for a long wait at one time while another patient was brought in and processed (not repeated) and a dental mistake by a trainee that was promptly remedied by Dr Shan I have had no other problems with this dentist over a period of many years. Dr Shan doesn't push for unnecessary dental work and she routinely takes x-rays to make proper diagnosis. She always explains what she observes and what she recommends with me. Dr Shan may not be a smooth talker but she is a competent and honest dentist and that is what a patient primarily needs. I recently left town and have to find a new dentist but dental businesses that are run as well as Glenside are hard to come by. I expect to find it hard to replace Glenside Dental.

Nothing personal, but every dentist I ever had was just to rough, in this sensitive area, and they always had me gripping the chair with a death grip waiting on the pain they were inevitably going to cause me. This was the first time in 30 years and 30 dentists I was able to relax. Dr Dean and his staff created a very calm and relaxing atmosphere where every thing was explained to me and was executed with the utmost concern for my comfortably, and he even had to drill out a huge cavity that broke my tooth. He was even careful with numbing my tooth properly so I didn't do a backbend when the needle went into my gum. I have never written a review for a dentist before because my mother always said," if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all" I can honestly say that Dr Dean is the absolute best dentist I have ever been too, and he is the only dentist I'm going to be going to from now on. Took my husband here for dental work. I have read a multitude of unflattering reviews concerning his partner who has a reputation for not being terribly kind or considerate to patients. The negative reviews tend to have a pattern which makes me feel there is a good bit of truth to them. I almost canceled the appointment because of this but other reviews highly recommended Dr. Packer with whom he was scheduled to see. I don't know about you, but I always research providers before making an appointment. They desperately need to invest a few hundred bucks in updating the awful decor. There was some ugly brown tooth sign on the wall with Dr. Overton's name on it. Otherwise, no framed images, just stodgy looking furniture and carpet. A fresh coat of paint on the walls and some framed and nature photographs would do wonders. Some magazines would be nice too. Thankfully there was no television--just radio that played Eddie Rabbitt and other assorted eighties pop drivel. When we first walked in I don't know WHAT happened but the waiting room STUNK like POOP!!! I had to pull my shirt over my nose--it was absolutely gross. I *think* the restroom was on the other side of the waiting room, and if that is the case for the love of god INVEST IN PROPER VENTILATION!!!! Is that the first impression you want to make on your patients when they first walk in the door???!!! At the end of the day, husband received good care and the cost was affordable. My Dr was Amber Ather. He was Superfantastic. (I'm certain all the Physicians know their stuff) however for me what was especially comforting was Dr Ather's attention to detail - meaning how clearly he reviewed my intended procedure before we got started. He made me feel that this decision for the Root Canal was absolutely the correct course of action and had a terrific demeanor in explaining things in lay persons terms. The entire process was as terrific as you can get when looking forward to a Root Canal. I would not hesitate using the practice and especially Dr Ather should I need these services again
