Commonwealth Endodontist's accommodated my scheduling needs in 1 Day (Amazing Service). The staff was Fabulous ( I went to the 3107 Hungary Spring Rd ) Location on the West End. My Dr was Amber Ather. He was Superfantastic. (I'm certain all the Physicians know their stuff) however for me what was especially comforting was Dr Ather's attention to detail - meaning how clearly he reviewed my intended procedure before we got started. He made me feel that this decision for the Root Canal was absolutely the correct course of action and had a terrific demeanor in explaining things in lay persons terms. I was seen here because of a referral for treatment. At the time of service this location was giving free evaluations but any imaging would have to be paid. Apparently the type of image they take for treatment isn't covered by insurance. I paid $200 the day of service. Almost 3 years later, I owe $30 for an evaluation done back in 2020. They said they had tried to reach me but I refused payment and so they had written off the debt. April 27, 2023 they reinstated the $30 balance owed. People are so nuts and this place is surely one of them -- This chain looks pretty, they have the nice pens, mugs or whatever else they give you but obviously they aren't worth it in customer service. Dr. Finkler and his staff were fantastic. I was able to get a consult appointment very quickly. The assistant was very sweet. Dr. Finkler calmed my nerves and mad me very comfortable. They were able to schedule my appointment for the next day. I was very nervous after an extremely unpleasant experience at another office. Dr. Finkler calmed my nerves and the procedure went great. I don't have any pain. He even answered a question about an issue I was having from my last procedure at another office. Thank you very much for a great experience. read more

Dr. Finkler really put my mind at ease about the root canal prior to performing the procedure. He was super helpful in explaining both the procedure and what I could expect afterwards. His assistant was also very knowledgeable and I could tell she had been with him a long time. The office on Hungary Spring was clean and well-maintained. No one wants to be in a situation to go see an endodontist, but if you are, I highly recommend Commonwealth. I am an absolute baby when it comes to dentists and they were extremely patient and kind throughout my root canal. Kelly & Nancy both made me feel very welcome in the office and throughout the procedures. Dr. Barbieri was sure to answer all of my questions, explain step by step what he was doing, and worked to give me the best root canal experience. Other reviews have mentioned the cost. Is this this cheapest root canal available in Richmond? Probably not. Do you want to get the cheapest root canal in Richmond? Also, probably not. I do not have dental insurance, so their upfront information about costs was extremely helpful. They all made sure to explain every part of the process so there were no surprises. want to give a 5 star review, but I jus can not. Growing up pretty poor, it's not in my conscience: I had a wonderful experience having a root canal on Wednesday 7/3/19... That's a crazy combination of words, in my opinion!!!! There is so much to love about this practice! 1) They got me in for an emergency situation within 24 hours 2) Dr. Vranas is amazing! He's very skilled, pretty cool to talk to, and easy on the eyes. Two things: 1.He marketed to me, while performing a root canal: " If you ever need another root canal, I hope that you'll come here." 2. He assumed that I didn't know what residual pain meant. (I do!) 3) His assistant Kelly is the sweetest. She was super competent and so easy to talk to. plus, she knew what she was doingI have never had a ROOT CANAL in 20 MINUTES! 1 & 1/2 day later and I'm feeling pretty darn fantastic! .... My one down side with this practice: As a college educated and practicing accountant I know that Everything boils down to the almighty dollar :( I know how the world turns, I know the economy, and I know that your pay matches your skill! With that being said: There really is no reason to continue to harp on it! I seriously wonder what my outcome would have been if I did not have the $931 to pay my bill. The cost was thrust in your face from the minute I made the appointment. I was informed by my referring dentist that all fees were required up front, your website also made it crystal clear. I even had to sign and initial saying that I understood when I filled out the new patient information online.... And then the receptionist called me up from the waiting room to go over possible charges with me yet again. It was kind of humiliating, I'm was being forced to talk about my potential bill in front of a waiting room full of other patients! Who does that?! When Dr. Vranas came in, he said I've been told you want treatment today? Of course I want treatment! I've been in pain for a week! Fortunately, I can cover it. My question is? What if I hadn't been able to pay for it? Would I have even gotten through the door? I feel like the answer is No, that sucks. In April 2020, Dr. Vranas performed a root canal on me on the WRONG TOOTH. I didn't even know this type of mistake was possible. After the procedure, I spent 10 days in excruciating pain with half of my head swollen. I had to take 3 strong antibiotics to control the infection caused by Dr. Vranas's mistake/neglect. 10 days later he performed another root canal on the right tooth this time. As a result of the antibiotics treatment, I lost all good bacteria in my stomach, and ended up in hospital with very serious case of colitis. Commonwealth Endodontics forced me to pay for both root canals including the one done on the wrong tooth. My dental insurance investigated this matter and sided with me. I should not have been charged for a root canal done on the wrong tooth. The result of this investigation was a refund request from Commonwealth Endodontics to me and my dental insurance, and reimbursement of the cost of crown I now need on the tooth wrongly treated. Dr.Vranas and Commonwealth Endodontics are appealing this decision, which is their right, but it is another 60 days that I have to wait for the money I need for the crown. I know it will take a lot of work and the involvement of other institutions to get Commonwealth Endodontics to do right by me. I have experienced a little of it already, as I had to pay for both of the procedures right after it was done. They overcharged me over $400, and it took me over 2 months of calling to get that amount back. read more

My first experience with their front office / appointment co-ordinator over phone was unpleasant which resulted in my not going to them. I found them to be very arrogant and rude. These dental clinics seem to be so full of money that they really don't so much care for the new patients. We had a pre-evaluation of my wife's teeth with a different clinic and wanted to find out if they would take us as new patients and complete the root canal procedure. They would not give me an estimate until they saw the X ray and the prescription. I opted to sending them the x rays, but they would not give me the email address until I gave them the complete profile information. The lady there didn't seem to pay attention to what I was saying and this got me frustrated. I don't have personal experience about their root canal services and can't comment. read more

I had not one but TWO root canals here and both times each Dr. was so soothing I almost fell asleep. They are gentle and calming y'all you through what they are doing. I had absolutely no pain from my root canal and when I had the pain afterwards they gave me medicine to help. I definitely recommend. read more

I could not wait to write this review!!! If I could give 10 stars I would. Today I went to Commonwealth Endodontics and If anyone know me, know I am terrified of the dentist due to very bad experience. Today, all of this changed due to Dr. Randolph Birch, I had to get not one but two root canals, he was so patient and gentle with me. He took the time to explain the every step of the procedure And waited till I was comfortable for him to start. I have really bad anxiety but he made me feel comfortable to trust him to work on my teeth!! I was so comfortable I went to sleep (lol) during the root canal procedure!! Please go see this doctor he is amazing!!!!! In fact from the time I checked into the time I left was great from the staff to the Doctor. The Experience at this dental office was amazing!!!! The absolute worst dental experience of my life. I have never been in pain and held hostage over money and yet it happened here. They insist on you paying up front as soon as you walk through the door and will do absolutely nothing to treat you until you sign your life away. There are plenty of other options in this category. Have had two recent experiences with Commonwealth Endodontics this summer for unscheduled dental emergencies. Both times they fit me in same day and from front desk, technicians and assistants to the doctors couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Entire office works to make you comfortable knowing patients are in pain. Doctors communicated directly with me and I felt like I got the best care possible. Both a staff person and the doctor followed up after my procedure. Couldn't recommend more highly read more

First, let me say that Dr. Finkler and his assistant LP are beyond amazing! They are very passionate about what they do and it shows through their care and compassion. I had to get a tooth retreated and I was already nervous... hadn't had any major treatment since I was a kid. From the beginning of the process, from the first phone call with Tulsa being completely patient and understanding, to getting me in with a time that worked with my schedule, to the team just being themselves and showing so much care throughout the day, the level of their commitment is indescribable. Dr. Finkler has an amazing bedside manner and is very calming. He constantly made sure I was ok and explained everything throughout the process so there was no surprises! I was referred to Dr. Finkler on 2 occasions. One for a root canal and then again for pain evaluation in the same tooth a year and half later. I did not find him to be professionally forthright during either visit. He provided a great many mixed messages about the tooth's treatment and prognosis. During the last visit, he performed a procedure which in retrospect might not have been opportune or even required and I was left with the feeling he was just looking for ways to increase his treatment billing. read more

Horrible. I was referred by my dentist for a specific condition. After $400 of x-rays and 'evaluation' I was told that the only solution to my condition was to extract the teeth which they don't do. Since they knew the diagnosis before I walked through the door, why did it take $400 worth of messing around to tell me that my condition can't be treated by endodontists? I feel very taken advantage of. They should have looked at the diagnosis and just told me they didn't treat it and I'd still have my $400. They weren't very welcoming either while they were taking my money. They made me feel embarrassed and depressed about my situation. read more

My jaw was getting progressively more painful over five days. I called my regular dentist office knowing it was closed due to the coronavirus. I was forwarded to the "dentist on-call" who prescribed me a pain med and recommended I call Commonwealth. I got the medicine and waited several days to request an appointment (on a Friday). Commonwealth called me back in about two hours and I explained my situation. They asked if I could come in first thing Monday morning. I was greeted by a very friendly screener in the very cool parking lot. After several minutes I entered the building and Molly took a quick x-ray and put me a treatment room. Dr. M. Morris arrived in a very few minutes telling me she had reviewed my x-ray and knew where the problem was. After several brief tests she asked if I wanted to schedule another day to return to have it fixed or she could do it right then. I opted to fix it then. The entire procedure took about 1.5 hours and was painless. I think I even dosed off twice (during a root canal). Dr. Morris and Molly were quite friendly and explained everything in layman's terms to me. At discharge the front office was most helpful and provided me detailed paperwork and billing information. If you must have a root canal this is the place to go! read more
