While Airr BB'ing in their neighborhood a year or so ago I came across the JK DDS office in a lovely house converted to dentist office on the corner and needed a 'clean and check' so thought why not give them a try. Fast forward to yesterday I had a small pain, (popcorn kernel emergency : ) I wanted them to look at and they immediately worked me in first thing in the morning and quickly took care of the issue. I'd like to give them a proverbial 'shout out' for a friendly warm genuinely kind and compassionate staff ~ from the front desk to the hygienist to the Dr to check out ~ this is a First class operation. 2 thumbs up 5 stars! All was well, even saw the transition of the main dentist son come aboard and being a father myself was great to see this from a Legacy perspective. In the last few years the quality of the people in the front desk, main the office manager has not only shocked me, but sad to see. My situation was this: I am a business owner and travel more at certain times, I have conveyed this for years as a patient/client relationship kind of deal: wife and kids visit this office, oh and also in-laws (they have recommended me to this office) so has been maybe even 20 years of family going to this office I would think, back to the issue: I go to an appointment and while sitting there was told hey, can we reschedule you for another date, I am a make lemonade out of lemons kind of person, so ok no problem, now have I missed some appointments due to travel time, yes, but would pay the $50 on top of co-pays. One day in speaking with the office manager she with a nasty energy said I can't make any appointments for you, I asked why and she stated that John does not want you as a patient, I was shocked and dis-belief, due to the relationship for years, it's not that dentist can turn anybody away, but for me whatever the reason was for was never discussed as hey, you missed 2 appointments and these are our rules, was a bit disappointed to see a business office handle this situation that way. One the office manager could have made the situation a situation that could have caused a bigger issue by the way it was handled, 2 the trust is broken by the way it was handled and now the office may lose 6 clients, due to one conversation that could have been had, sad to see, I hope the office manger does not destroy them or cause a major issue there

TL/DR: Dr. Tart is the best dentist you will ever find…read more Even if you hate going to the dentist, you will love going to Dr.Tart! Long gone are the days when the dreaded "Dentist Appt" notification pops up on your calendar...when you're a patient of hers, you know you're in good hands. She's warm, knowledgeable and efficient! Always on time with her appointments, and gets the job done while also somehow finding a way to get to know you and make you laugh at the same time! I have had procedures done as well as general checkups and her follow ups go beyond the asks of the job. She's pretty "old school" in the best way possible - her job is to help keep your teeth healthy, and I've found other dentists often push you on things you don't need just to make money. Dr. Tart doesn't do this, but if you are interested in stuff like Invisalign or cosmetic (non necessity) procedures she will absolutely inform you on them. Oh! And her staff! I think Dr.Tart has some secret hack for finding the best staff. Like, total unicorns. Denise and Cheryl - y'all rock. (Cheryl is actually the whole reason for me coming here in the first place! I have to say this office needs to be shut down. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth was extremely…read morerough, like a bull in a China shop and my gums were bleeding. The bull dogs at the payment desk are worthless. When I asked for a printout of the charges and a break down, they were unable to provide it. All I got was a piece of paper telling me what I owed period. They couldn't explain anything only that this is what I owed, period end of discussion. I ended up going to going to Dr Gardener by default after Dr Reed moved back to California. They tried over charging me for my bridge by charging more than the insurance paid and then argued with me. Dr Gardener is about as friendly as rock. I needed a bridge and they make them in the office, and you come back that afternoon to have it put in. These crowns are rough and never feel clean even after brushing. I had a single crown done before I had the bridge put in and I went back 5 times to get it adjusted. I explained the problem I was having, and they never got it right. I finely gave up and went to a new dentist, and she fixed it correctly. Sadly, there was a cavity that was not taken care of when they did the crown, and I had to have it removed by my new dentist and a new crown. If I were you, I would avoid them at all cost.

Little did they know the 5 star Leader of the Yelp Army, the Commandant of comments, The Yelp General walked in their front door. 3) each and every doctor had world class bedside manner. There was a gentleman next door that I'm pretty sure was having a tough time and Dr. Collie was VERY patient with him. 4) TWO. WORDS. hot towel... NEED I SAY MORE? What am I in First class to Dubai on British airways??? Mind blowing. Thank you RVA dental care, I really appreciate it the pearly whites and beautiful bicuspids.

(I left messages at seven other dental offices that claimed they offered emergency care. Nobody returned any of my messages. Ever.) I can't speak to RVA's other services, pricing, etc. But they get a five out of five for caring enough about patients to assist with emergencies (even when the patient wasn't a prior client).
