I don't really write reviews but I think I should on this for the patient and for the Dentist to know if they are getting what they paid or think they are paying for: was a client of this Dentist Office for years, about 10-12 years I would say. All was well, even saw the transition of the main dentist son come aboard and being a father myself was great to see this from a Legacy perspective. In the last few years the quality of the people in the front desk, main the office manager has not only shocked me, but sad to see. My situation was this: I am a business owner and travel more at certain times, I have conveyed this for years as a patient/client relationship kind of deal: wife and kids visit this office, oh and also in-laws (they have recommended me to this office) so has been maybe even 20 years of family going to this office I would think, back to the issue: I go to an appointment and while sitting there was told hey, can we reschedule you for another date, I am a make lemonade out of lemons kind of person, so ok no problem, now have I missed some appointments due to travel time, yes, but would pay the $50 on top of co-pays. One day in speaking with the office manager she with a nasty energy said I can't make any appointments for you, I asked why and she stated that John does not want you as a patient, I was shocked and dis-belief, due to the relationship for years, it's not that dentist can turn anybody away, but for me whatever the reason was for was never discussed as hey, you missed 2 appointments and these are our rules, was a bit disappointed to see a business office handle this situation that way. One the office manager could have made the situation a situation that could have caused a bigger issue by the way it was handled, 2 the trust is broken by the way it was handled and now the office may lose 6 clients, due to one conversation that could have been had, sad to see, I hope the office manger does not destroy them or cause a major issue there read more

Greetings fellow Yelpers, I don't live f/t in RVA but visit frequently as my daughter is a college student here. While Airr BB'ing in their neighborhood a year or so ago I came across the JK DDS office in a lovely house converted to dentist office on the corner and needed a 'clean and check' so thought why not give them a try. Fast forward to yesterday I had a small pain, (popcorn kernel emergency : ) I wanted them to look at and they immediately worked me in first thing in the morning and quickly took care of the issue. I'd like to give them a proverbial 'shout out' for a friendly warm genuinely kind and compassionate staff ~ from the front desk to the hygienist to the Dr to check out ~ this is a First class operation. 2 thumbs up 5 stars! Had to write this review after googling dentists in Richmond and finding Dr. Kittrell so highly reviewed. The front desk staff is nice but I always had pretty long waits and Dr. Kittrell, though a kind man, has "no idea" what he's doing, according to another dentist I saw later. The filling I got from Dr. Kittrell bothered me for years after I got it. I went back in to the office several times and asked them to take a look at it again. They kept telling me there was nothing wrong with it. I went to another dentist. He took one look and said that the amalgam was all over the crown and outsides of my tooth, making the other teeth rub against it. "Did you get this at a dental school?" "No, from a local dentist." "Oh. Well he has no idea what he's doing. I thought this was the first practice filling from a dental student." The new dentist sanded bits of the amalgam off the parts of the tooth where it shouldn't have been and I instantly felt 90% better. I complained about a week later that it still hurt a little and the new dentist told me that the tooth pulp is probably bruised from the long term injury of the other teeth hitting the botched filling. He tells me that if it doesn't feel better in a few months the poor filling may not be deep enough (the cavity may still be active UNDER the filling) or the bad fit may have cracked the tooth. Never going back to Dr. Kittrell who not only did a bad job but couldn't tell that he'd done a bad job even when I came back to him in pain several times. read more

The worst office regarding communication. Office never return calls and when I could finally get appointment and show up they tell me it was cancelled. The person said " we tried to contact you" which I find very hard to believe Also I was told by other patients they were charging Covid fee after your visit. I will find a new dentist. read more

I've always enjoyed my visits here! He does book quickly though so if you want an appointment definitely book it at your earliest convenience! As someone who lives in the fan, this convenient location could not be any better. The hygienists are great as well! read more

I hadn't been to the dentist about 10 years until last month. I was worried I wouldn't find a good place here in the city of Richmond. I stumbled upon Dr. Kittrell's office online and decided to give them a try. I must say, the place is very clean, office staff is friendly and the equipment/supplies they use is up to date too. Judy was my hygienist and she cleaned my teeth to "like new" condition. I had so much build up from over the years, but by the time I left, everything was perfectly clean. When Dr. Kittrell's came to visit at the end, he was very professional and made me feel comfortable as a new patient. Upon leaving the office, Judy gave me a bag full of samples and tooth cleaning supplies that will come in handy in the future. read more

Dr. Kittrell's office makes dental cleanings a painless experience. The appointments run on-time and the office is conveniently located in a Victorian house on Grove & Robinson. Personally, the only dental work that I had done was cleanings, x-rays, and two fillings, but I would trust Dr. Kittrell for other work. If he can't do it, his staff is knowledgeable about who's best in town. Throughout my time as a client, I mostly saw the dental hygienists for cleanings. They're knowledgeable and thorough with their cleaning work. If you care about improving your teeth, they give lots of helpful and honest suggestions like using a Sonicare, etc. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Kittrell for about six months now. I am a wuss when it comes to dentist's and I have an extremely low pain tolerance. Dr. Kittrell was very understanding in regards to my fear, and was very gentle with every procedure I have had done. He explains prior, during, and upon completion always checking to make sure you are not experiencing any pain. He is by far the best dentist I've ever encountered. He is always on time, and his office staff is very professional, and knowledgeable as well. I love my dentist. read more
