He prepared the two areas for the temporary teeth, Dr Shay argued with us for a minimum of 20 minutes not wanting to do this, which by the way was the purpose of the visit as well as to be fitted for a bridge. She told us that she would have to file a bit off her teeth to put crowns on which we assumed was normal!!! One hour and fifteen minutes later she leaves the room, with my grand daughter bleeding out of both side of her mouth not to return until I insisted a nurse get her. So here's the kicker when we looked at what she had been doing for so long she had taken four adult size teeth and filed them down to the size of a toddlers! Needless to say this infuriated me, it wasn't pleasant, she tried to say that she wasn't finished and continues to show us a model of what her teeth should look like not listening to our concerns at all only saying she wasn't finished , we informed her that she was most certainly finished! They shuffled us into their break room to continue to tell us they weren't finished.... They were!!! We told them to give the $3900 we had to pay them in cash back, in the meantime another of their fantastic dentist was laughing which definitely sent her and I over the edge, Dr Lee came in and once again tried to talk her into getting back into the chair, not a chance! We got a referral back to the oral surgeon to now have the four teeth they had destroyed extracted! The surgeon was in shock at what they had done to her mouth! She had those pulled today...It gets better over the weekend her gums became so inflamed she had to go to the ER, once there the Drs once again were in shock at the condition of her mouth, and at the fact that the dentist did not put her in antibiotics, or pain meds, promptly do exactly that! Now for myself I've recently had knee replacement surgery, explaining to the front desk that I cannot do a deep cleaning for atleast six months due to the knee replacement and that I just wanted a regular cleaning which they promptly replied no because they want to do a deep cleaning, I gave them my surgeons name and number and told them to call him, needless to say he told them absolutely no way! So needless to say to say this is the worst practice in the state, they do what they want and not what you want. Once my grand daughter's mouth heals and we now get her a partial instead of a bride we intend on pursuing this further! Next step is lodging a complaint with the Star Board of Dentistry! Going to wait until she's finished for the next step

They answer all my questions and help to provide an accurate quote for any out of pocket expenses I may have. So what's it like going to the dentist during a pandemic? Surprisingly it's pretty normal,going to the dentist during COVID was a major concern for me. I'm happy to report VFD is doing an amazing job keeping everyone healthy and safe. They have limited seating in the waiting area, mask are required. Both the dentist and hygienist wear both a mask and a face shield and there is hand sanitizer everywhere! Long story short if there was a cleanliness award during the pandemic VFD would easily win the award!

From 2004-2006 another local neurologist was treating my daily migraines and many other symptoms from the (as of that time undiagnosed) permanent brain injury that I received in the dog attack. This other neurologist's ONLY treatment for me was Vicodin, which was not helping me, it was only making it worse. He did not listen to me nor do an MRI. At the time that I first went to CNS I was barely able to speak in full sentences. Each morning would start with me being sick, from waking up with a migraine, so I could not be around bright lights w/o extreme pain in my head. I had a severe balance problem causing me to fall down three flights of stairs fracturing my spine in several places. I could go on, but you probably get the picture. Dr. O'Shanick listened to me. He properly diagnosed me and helped me with O.T., Speech Therapy, got me off of the Vicodin and on proper migraine therapy. After two years of daily migraines and not wanting to leave the darkness in my home, I finally started to function again! I could remember words when I would have a conversation with my kids. The migraines slowly went away, thank the Lord! I stopped falling, learning how to deal with my balance being 'off'. In short, thanks to Dr. O'Shanick, I actually feel 'human' again. That can only be understood by someone who has suffered a brain injury. I do still have ringing in my ears, but unfortunately that is permanent. Setting up appointments was rather simple and the office was technology forward, clean, bright and new. The building was recently renovated and they have a large parking lot. However, it was obvious that behind their fancy facade lies the drive to pad their bottom line. My first check up here was pretty comprehensive with all the x-rays being taken and teeth properly scaled. This took approximately 45 minutes into the hour long appointment. The hygienist spent a good 10 minutes trying to explain for me why I should pay for the up charge for fluoride even though it already covered under my insurance plan. The hygienist and dentist spent the last 20 minutes of my appointment creating a sense of urgency telling me to prevent my teeth from cracking that I needed to buy from them a mouth guard, electric tooth brushes, teeth whitening, etc all of which I get for free from my dental sales rep neighbor. My second appointment consisted of a longer sales pitch than actual care. My second cleaning here with the same tech didn't even last all of 10 minutes, which is inadequate to receive a proper scaling done, she didn't even floss my teeth. I received another repeated lecture regarding why an up charge for the fluoride was highly recommended even though it was already covered by insurance. Followed by another 20 minutes berating me on why I did not want to proceed with making an mouth guard and signing up for their teeth whitening treatments. I've never had any issues with my teeth and I cannot imagine how this practice would try and extort me if I had actually had an issue with my teeth. This has left a bad taste in my mouth and I cannot recommend anyone come to this practice.

I moved a few years ago and now I travel over 100 miles total round-trip to have him do my cleanings and anything I need done on my teeth; however, I haven't needed anything major done to my teeth because of the great care he and his team give me each and every time I visit them, which is every six months for a cleaning and exam. During my last appointment, Geovanna was the dental hygienist and she cleaned my teeth with extra care as she did the last time I was there! She is very gentle and does a very good thorough job.
