Disappointing support from MURF Electric Bikes I am writing this review to share my deeply disappointing experience regarding a premature battery failure on my MURF Electric Bikes e-bike. The bike has only 800 total miles on it and is just 3 months past the standard warranty expiration. For a component as critical and expensive as an e-bike battery, failing after only 800 miles points to a clear manufacturing defect or a faulty Battery Management System (BMS). When the battery stopped working, I took it to an independent local bike shop and spent $50 out of pocket to have it professionally diagnosed. Their conclusion was clear: the battery itself was defective, and my best bet was to take it directly back to the manufacturer, MURF Electric Bikes, at their San Clemente showroom where I originally purchased it. When I reached out to MURF Electric Bikes support, the initial response was highly disappointing. Adhering strictly to the calendar date rather than the incredibly low mileage, they initially only offered a 25% discount on a brand-new replacement battery. After a great deal of back-and-forth and pushback on my part regarding reasonable product lifespan expectations, they finally adjusted their offer to $550 plus tax for a replacement. While I appreciate that they eventually moved on the price, requiring a customer to spend over $550 out of pocket to fix a premium e-bike with only 800 miles on the odometer is unacceptable. A quality lithium-ion battery should easily last several thousand miles. Prospective buyers looking into MURF Electric Bikes should be aware that if a major component fails shortly after the warranty date--even with very minimal use--you may be left holding a significant bill for a replacement. read more

I just purchased a second MURF e-bike The sales representatives are very nice and knowledgeable I looked at several e-bike manufacturers and found the quality of MURF to be superior Considering the size of the tires, the wheels spin true. Small details like the headlamp is good quality, nice comfortable handlebar grips and seat The rear luggage rack is welded to the frame vs. an add-on with fasteners The battery has huge range and speed MURF does a good job managing all the wires associated with an e-bike. The best bike in the game. These guys take care of business and represent our community well in SC. I brought my bike in as it was having some issues with the battery, they ran some tests on it and took care of business. They fixed the key that was wonky, fixed the connection between the battery and charger fuse and gave me a new charger. I couldn't even get ahold of ANYONE at Super 73. My wife purchased 2 bikes with all the bells and whistles along with a bike rack. If you don't already have a tow hitch installed on your vehicle you can have one done pretty easily at uHaul for $400. The bikes we chose were the alpha cargo and higgs cargo. I had a great experience picking them up at Murf HQ in San Clemente thanks to Steve... possibly the most helpful dude ever. Our bikes have kids seats, front baskets, side steps and ALL the bells and whistles on them which can make for a more difficult time getting them secured safely to the new bike rack (which we also purchased from Murf, the Hollywood Rack) ... but Steve was a pro and walked me through everything step by step. So far the kids are loving the bikes. My daughter was yelling "best day ever!" from the top of her lungs on our ride to the beach yesterday. When I was leaving the beach a guy stopped me and said "that's the best looking ebike I think I've ever seen" ... hahaha, so if that's not an endoresement, I don't know what is. Last thing, the Desert Sand color looks SO good! 99% of the time I go with black, this time I switched it up and am glad I did. read more

On 1-16 I made an appointment online to test ride their e-bikes. I indicated on the notes I wished to use my CA e-bike incentive voucher. On 1-18 (Saturday) I visited their location in San Clemente and was help by an older gentleman. He was really helpful and super nice. He answered all my questions I had regarding the bike and the technical details. The reason I chose Murf was the capacity of the e-bike and they have a promo of a free trailer with purchased of a bike. The trailer was the biggest seller as I was looking for a bike that had some cargo capacity. The sells person who helped me stated he didn't know exactly how the CA voucher worked since I was the first person they helped who had one. This is when I was assisted by Taylor. She also mentioned she didn't know how the whole processes worked and would need to contact her manager on Monday. I mentioned to her which bike I wanted and also mentioned the free trailer. She mentioned it probably wouldn't be a problem since they would be getting full price for the bike. She took all my contact information that day and stated she would reach out to me. I appreciated her help as I drove from Newport Beach. 1-20 Taylor text me stated she spoke with her manager and she would be able to process the voucher. I informed her I would be stopping by on Saturday the 25th. 1-25 I drove to San Clemente from Newport Beach once again. As we were talking about the process I mentioned to her if I could get the trailer in the box. She mentioned I wouldn't be able to get the free trailer since they couldn't stack discounts. I informed her I wouldn't be taking the bike as the whole purpose was the cargo capacity. She again mentioned she would talk to her manager on Monday the 27th to see about getting the trailer included. 1-27 Taylor text me stating her manager decided not to include it as it is their policy not to "stack" discounts. I informed her I was disappointed to hear their decision. I had hear great things about their bikes before stopping by. After this experience, their bikes may be awesome but their customer service maybe not so much. I understand business not allowing stacking discounts, however this is not a discount. They are getting paid full price for the bike. I feel as I wasted time driving all the away to San Clemente twice when this could have been addressed when I first made my appointment and stated my intention of using the CA voucher. Just feels wrong and did not leave a good taste in my mouth. read more

Went to Murf to see if they could replace battery and they could not help since warranty is 2 years. They wanted to sell me a new battery. No discount nothing. We currently have two Murf bikes-one with 700 miles and another with over 2,000 miles--and both have performed exceptionally well (Daily 30 miles trips) The Murf showroom offers access to all their models which made choosing the right bike easy and stress-free. Their service department is equally outstanding. They're transparent, responsive, and keep you updated on service progress via text. A special shout-out to Corbin-he helped me with a battery issue that was covered under warranty. He was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain battery care and maintenance, which was super helpful. I'm always recommending Murf to friends and neighbors here in San Clemente. Not sure what Brad C. is on about but this place is the tits! Was always hesitant on E-bikes cause of all the wheelie kids flying around on the road getting slammed by cars, but saw how slick these Murfs looked and everyone kept recommending this brand. Went to go test ride one of these E-hogs and was quickly greeted by a fella named Brandon. Incredibly nice guy with a heart of gold. Was patient with all my questions and had a soft, comforting motherly vibe to him. He helped me learn the controls and I got a good test ride hotlap in. Bike felt solid and fast. Eyed up the mechanics area where they got a ton of wrench monkeys working and fixing up some Murf bikes. Quality work all around. Loved the bike and crew so much i bought it that day! Great price too considering the country's economical situation these days. bike did great on me and my buddies adventure home. Held up well to all our tests we put them through, little trail riding, downhill action and some road racin! The guys that work there are cool and helpful. The bike is great, but some of the rules that the employees have to follow seem wacky. I was bummed recently because after spending 5600 on two bikes, I got a flat tire two days after purchase and had to pay $70 for the fix. I would hope that service like that would be included after such a big purchase especially given the fact that I had the bike for only a few days before the flat happened. read more

Thank God he was okay (the bigger tires helped), but the bike was no longer rideable. Where do I even start? I've hated on e-bikes for years and I'll admit I was a bit hesitant to get a bike here after hearing about the "disconnect" but now here I am - a proud Murf owner ready to put the rumors to rest. There is an older gentlemen that works here, Steve or Mike or something who helped my friend and I. He showed us a bike rack that would work for my Ford Raptor and all kinds of bells and whistles you can add to the bikes. I've never owned an e-bike before but considering the countries current economical situation the price is right! That Raptor of mine is terrible on gas when I'm driving from Talega to San Clemente but now I can ride in style! I've surfed giant waves in Nazare, biked down mountains in Canada, but little compares to the feeling a Murf bike gives you. Showed up on a Tuesday to do some research as I and my family are new to the eBike world. My wife and I needed to buy a total of 4 eBikes. On Tuesday I spoke with a young lady (never mentioned her name) with light brown hair. She answered some questions for me and I left. After completing my research on eBikes we decided to buy 3 Murf bikes (my son settled for a Super73). Took my family back the following Thursday afternoon, we showed up at 4:52pm (google had them closing at 6pm.) As soon as we got out of truck and walked up to the container/ shop we were greeted by a young man (no name given) with slightly longer wavy dark hair.) Young Man: "Hello folks, we close in 8 minutes so we are NOT allowing any ride demos, we are done for the day." I let this guy know that we are buying 3 bikes TODAY but just need to complete a quick demo ride. I was not going to buy them without a test run. Young man simply shrugged his shoulders and said, "sorry." Wait, I'm ready to buy 3 bikes TODAY but I can't test them out first?! "NOPE!" My family and I walked away in disbelief. My wife told them they were going to loose out on over 8000 dollars but it had ZERO effect, they (young man and woman) couldn't have cared less. This is the level of "service" we get when wanting to purchase 3 eBikes?!?! We have been living in San Clemente for over 22 years and, sadly, we will NOT recommend this business to anyone. We ended up reaching out to FB's San Clemente pages for referrals and we received an overwhelming response regarding EPIC Power Bikes in San Clemente, so we gave them a shot. Let me tell you, it was next level customer service and we ended up purchasing 3 eBikes from them. Kaleigh provides cordial customer service + incredibly efficient. I'm 6'2" 220 and bought a Murf Alpha 2022 to ride to Trestles and Murf fat pax step through for the wifey. I had some issues with my bike rack and Alpha within the first month of buying it and ended up going to Murf HQ about 4 times. Instead of being perturbed and lackluster, Kaleigh went above and beyond to take care of me and amend the situation to my delight. If it wasn't for her, I would have returned the bike. The bikes are pricey, but it's worth it. The Murf Alpha is the Ferrari of e-bikes. I got this bike up to 33MPH on the flats. Rad Power, Pedego, E-lux, Aventon are all economy / Toyota Corolla of e-bikes. Surron is another good option for high quality e-bikes if you like the dirt bike aesthetics The 4 main things on Alpha that stand out are the battery life, strong motor, illuminating headlight, and built in rear rack. My Alpha Cargo class 3/non-passenger kit is a powerful tank. Finding the correct assistance balance to make riding an actual workout is easy because I am pedaling a combined 350lbs down the road so my heart rate gets going good. I wish I could ride my tank more often. read more

I have been wanting a Murf bike for a few years now - my friend has referred myself, and many others to Murf as he is a happy owner and has had nothing but great experiences. He helped me pick out my bike once I was ready to make the big purchase, I ordered it and he went with me to go pick it up. When we came to pick it up the service was incredibly awkward, not helpful and I was pulling teeth. I just spent close to $3k and I guess I was expecting a little bit more excitement to show me my bike, how to use it and also offer to help me get setup. None of that was displayed. I had to ask how to use the bike, the kickstand was also unique and not shown to me until I asked for a demo. Also, my headlight was facing down to the tire, so my friend actually had to adjust it for me once we got back to his place which took about 30 minutes of his time (again something that would have been nice to be offered from one of the employees). I have only had a chance to ride my bike once since I picked it up this past Sunday, so I can't rate the actual purchase just yet, but the overall experience was pretty disappointing. I was looking for more guidance, support and friendly customer service that any of the 3 employees standing around were able to provide me and it was definitely a bummer. Was hit by a drunk driver a few weeks ago and Prius was a total loss. Got my son a Murf Alpha for Christmas 2022, and he asked for Suron for 8th grade graduation. I started taking his Murf out last week, and I fell in love with the bike - it's mine now lol. I take the bike to RSM every day, and the PAS helps me go up Holy Jim Trail. As long (3+ years) Murf e-Bike owner, I absolutely endorse these bikes as the most well built and designed bikes you might consider. When you buy these kind of bikes, you've got to have excellent support and the folks @ Murf always deliver. I own a Fat Pax step-through and a normal Pax step-through. Worst bike for the money. We have had our bike for 5 months, only been able to ride it 3 of those months. It is either in the shop or waiting 30 days for our repair appt. Red flag when the repair shop is booked 30 days out. List of repairs so far....broken light from the start (which we paid out of pocket to have fixed rather than wait 30 days to have it fixed), blown fuse twice, 3 flat tires (not that flat tires are the bike's fault, but we have had an American Flyer for 3 years with only 2 flats in that time), brake pads, and rotor. Would not recommend Murf. Update, A representative from Murf followed up with me and was very receptive to my review and offered to comp my last service which was very nice. Although we have not had the best experience with our bike maybe it is a one off. They obviously take pride in their bikes for taking the time to follow up with me and trying to make our experience better. read more

Bought two ebikes. A izzy beach cruiser and then a fat murf. Pedal came off while riding. Went with Murf because of the local repair and 2 year warranty. Showed up on Sunday 9/12 to have the bike repaired. Was told by the manager and sales representative, that repair would take 10 minutes, but that they were too understaffed to do it that day. Literally said sorry, we cant today, bring it back another time. They advertise a warranty, and that they'll fix the bikes for 2 years. But, service stops at the sale. read more

My bike has been there 2.5 weeks for a repair, (their voicemail says bikes will be repaired in 4-5 days) have called multiple times to see when it would be ready. If you can actually get anyone on the phone they are polite, but can't tell me when it will be done. Finally spoke with someone, promised it would be done the next day, drive all the way down to San Clemente (called to beforehand to confirm it was actually done, but nothing but automated voicemail of course, AGAIN) and my bike isn't done.
