My friend and I came here on a Tuesday (and holiday) at about 3:30pm, and there was a line going out the door. The wait wasn't too long, and there were a few seats inside - but it was way too hot inside for anyone to eat inside. I got the seasonal strawberry fields ice cream in an original bubble waffle, for 50kr (a little over $8). My friend got the seasonal mighty mango ice cream in an original bubble waffle with strawberries for 55kr. The prices hurt my wallet real hard, but the ice cream wasn't too sweet which I love, and it almost tasted like the strawberry Haagen Dazs. My friends came to visit me while I was abroad and found this place (not sure how - I think an Instagram post?). They had been dying to try out the waffle cone ice cream concepts and we thought it was a good idea to go. This was around last March 2018 and boy was it chilly. When you can just walk into Munchies and experience it first hand! This place takes you on a pick-your-own(ice cream)-adventure. You pick from a choice of regular or seasonal flavored bubble waffle. Add your choice of fav ice cream to it. They have vanilla options like well.. Vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, strawberry and seasonal wonders like Black currant, mint chocolate, banana, shocking blue coconut , lemon sorbets and more. After that you get to add toppings like fruits, nuts, fudge, kit-kat and top it off with a drizzle. The toppings and drizzles cost extra. Just the ice cream and waffle cost about 50 DKK (~$7.5) and toppings are about 5 DKK ($ 0.75) each. You get to watch them make fresh bubble waffle in the back and the aroma of freshly made waffle is just delightful as you wait for it. Once the ice cream is served, you take the customary picture of course. But then you'd have to rush to finish it coz it's a race between you and the warm waffle melting your ice cream. I tried the regular waffle with double ice cream Salted Caramel and Banana. Both flavors were delightful but the waffle ice cream ended up being too heavy. It may be a good option to share though! If it's a particularly cold day, you can always get the hot chocolate. Taste wise the ice cream was much like any other that I've had. The look of the ice cream is very instagram worthy though. It will definitely spice up your insta feed. You can see people trying to take cool money shots with their ice creams outside the place. All in all it's a good place to visit if you're in the area. I was on a diet when I was innocently scrolling on my IG feed, and then a Munchies ad popped up and I felt my diet end that very moment. Dramatic, but you get the idea: this place is hype central and deservedly so. My other friends are already eager to try it out. Prices: I did the build your own combination. For the waffle itself, it's 40kr. With ice cream, an additional 10kr. Toppings, ranging from drizzled sauces to fruits and chocolates, are 5kr each. I spent 60kr on my vanilla ice cream waffle with caramel and strawberries, and I'd happily spend it again. Taste: from the pictures alone, I expected to feel like sugar-induced crap after eating such a huge dessert. However, I felt very good and even went to Papiroen for dinner. The waffle is light and fluffy, and you can never go wrong with vanilla. The strawberry topping is light (one small sliced strawberry) and the caramel was a drizzle, not a wave. Seating: not much. There are only two tall round tables with 2 seats each and some seating by the window that fits 2-3. The waffles are tricky to eat because of the rounded balls, so I wouldn't suggest walking too fast and eating. read more

The shop itself is small, so it's more like a takeaway place and I imagine it could be great in the summer where you can get drinks and waffle ice cream and sit by the canal. But in the winter, it has become a nightmare to find a sitting spot. However, don't let the shop size scare you about the bubble waffle. This snack originates from Hong Kong, and it's probably sold in HK with price a fraction of what we pay here, but it was good. The smell of waffle is wafting throughout the shop out to the street, so most people turn their heads to find out what kind of shop this is. There's step by step guide on how to order your waffle (normal, or seasonal (? - I imagine it would be like cinnamon flavoured in the Christmas season, perhaps?), pick your ice cream flavour, pick your fruit (these days only strawberries or banana) and pick your toppings (chocolate sprinkles or candies? You name it)...and voila, you got the giant obscene but beautiful waffle in your hands. Eat it while it's warm, it's super delicious and the ice cream and the toppings add a nice tough. I don't want to worry about how much calories on that one though... haha but it's a fantastic dessert for sure! read more

This place is great! Really hits the spot when you get the craving for some dessert munchies. (See what I did there? I'm hilarious.) They have an impressive selection of ice cream flavors, and some cool seasonal ones. You can build your own waffle + ice cream + toppings combo, or choose one of their suggestions. I created my own; vanilla ice cream, oreo topping, and caramel sauce. Lots of sugar, but lots of happiness. The hot waffle and the cold ice cream are a winning combo -- it looks like the Hong Kong style egg waffle if you've had one, but the texture is much softer and chewier. You might think you can't finish an entire one on your own, but just take your first bite and I promise you'll finish. I believe in you.
