IjustcantYelpit!  Fat Girl Rocks! Great food. Good prices. Fun music (loud). Locals at the bar. Clean. Vodka/soda at 10:30 am. Why not? No face masks. No social distancing. Cleaned my plate. Worth it! P.S. Dog friendly. Not kid friendly.

Don't get the biscuits and gravy . This is disgusting

They gave me the wrong food and they told me to bring the food back to get the right one . I'm sure that's not right and look at my biscuits and gravy

Love the morning bloody Mary's. Breakfast was pretty damn good too. I wish they served a little earlier, but it's a good place.

Food wasn't that good. Why can you smoke inside if you serve food. Would never come back

We asked if there was bread, and they have a complementary bread and pesto that was excellent. We each chose something different so we could try four different meals. The fish tacos were great! Great flavor and huge piece of fresh fish. The green beans are an excellent side choice. The grilled salmon was also excellent. The key lime aioli was sweet, but delicious. The crab cake was not deep fried and crispy, but full of large pieces of crab. The homemade potato chips and fries were great. I did prefer the fries. They also have gluten free buns for the burgers. Service was also excellent.

Salmon + green beans did what they needed to do. They gave me coleslaw too, did I ask for it? no. did I eat it? also no, but that's a personal preference thing. We also got the Mediterranean sampler and that was actually really good. I even tried my mom's martini of the month and I don't even like martinis like that but I would 100% drink that one again. The vibe is kinda in between, you can dress up or show up casual and not feel weird. It's a little loud but in a fun way like good for a date night or girls night. Service was decent, the girl at the bar was nice and clearly doing everything at once, so no complaints there. Drinks aren't insanely strong, but they can be cute depending on what you order. My wine looked like...wine, but my mom's martini had a cute rim. It ended up being around $57 not including tip which honestly felt cheap for everything we got. Only downside is street parking, so be ready to walk a bit if you didn't park right beside it. I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area.

You just need to point your own car toward Sarasota... to Tamiami Trail, just south of University. Step inside the Bahi Hut and you're back in 1955... plus one. This local landmark dates back to 1954 and bills itself as Florida's oldest tiki bar. I'm all in for it! Outside, it's a small, cement block building with retro font lettering, right next to a vintage motel. (Perfect, if you'd had too many mai tais!) Inside, it's tiki perfection... with dim lighting, Polynesian decor and that swanky feel you can only get from mid-century modern. In my head, an instant mashup of "Bali Hai" and xylophony lounge music. When I opened the door, everyone blinked-adjusting to the sudden light-and instant realization: it's actually 2025. Well-outside, anyway. Right away, I was greeted warmly by the bartender. It was about 2pm on a Friday and fairly empty, but I know this joint is jumpin' later on. The bartender recommended the mai tai... allegedly Trader Vic's original recipe from 1944. Oh, it was good... and strong. I appreciated the presentation, history and the taste. But I opted for something different for my second drink (the laminated drink menu was a joy to behold). I went with the gorgeous blue "desert flower," which is tequila based. Ooo, that was good, too... and so pretty. Two will definitely do ya, here. I had already eaten, so didn't try any of the food offerings. But I did sip slowly and chat with the other time travelers and tropic seekers who wandered in. It was exactly what I wanted it to be. Besides bar seating, there are tables in two different areas and a great merch collection that I need to go back and study. There's also a giant thatched tiki roof (not as vintage) and patio. They need the space, since there's karaoke on Thursdays, live music on Fridays and Saturdays and drag queen bingo on Sundays. There's also a happy hour, Monday thru Thursday, from 1-6, I believe. And later this year, the Tiki Fever Convention will be held at the Bahi Hut and next door at the Golden Host motel. (November 2025) I'm not sure I can make that, but I will definitely be back. There's plenty of parking-and that big menu to work through. Cue the xylophones... and I'll see you there!

I love Dry Dock Waterfront Grill and I always visit when I am in the Sarasota area. Dry Dock is always busy so I am also sure to make a reservation in advance using Open Table. Typically we sit inside but I know the back patio is popular too. If your timing and patience is perfect, you can also get a nice a nice window seat in the dining room that has sweeping views of Sarasota Bay. The inside atmosphere is bright and airy and although airy often translates to loud, Dry Dock thoughtfully put noise dampening panels on the ceiling. As far as food, I don't think you can go wrong. I always get something with grouper whether it be an entree, sandwich or tacos. On my most recent visit I got the grouper filet with coconut shrimp because I had originally been eyeing up the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. Ultimately, we decided to get the rock crab claws for an appetizer which were good but more work than I planned even though they were pre-cracked. I felt like a Neanderthal trying to eat those crab claws in such a nice restaurant. No offense to the Neanderthals, of course! I have no idea what my husband had as it disappeared. After entrees, apps and bread, we were too stuffed for dessert. I think our server was Cari and she was awesome! Attentive, friendly, funny and quite possibly a mind reader and magician. She saw the hanger in my eyes and made bread magically appear. I hope I got her name correct because she was superb! Shout out to all of the great staff members at Dry Dock -we've never had a bad experience. I love Dry Dock and it will forever stay in my Sarasota rotation.
