There were a few good-sized shrimp in the plate also, and their texture was better than the calamari's. But these items just didn't seem to mesh well with the flavors of the marinara, and the peppers and tomatoes didn't help either. There wasn't any real melding of the individual ingredients into a complete dish; each component felt as though they'd been introduced to the others at the last possible moment, and the taste of each didn't contribute to the others in a favorable way. [Seasoning the seafood more substantially, softening the added fruit and veggies with additional cooking, and using a more robust sauce would've helped, I think. Or perhaps a white wine and garlic sauce with the seafood, accompanied by angel hair instead of the spaghetti noodles I received.] All this leads me to believe I simply ordered the wrong dish for my tastes (though I typically enjoy the combination of pasta and seafood).
