Jesse did an outstanding job repairing/restoring a very intricate stained glass window from an old church. Before Jesse's intervention, the tiny glass pieces embedded within, had started to all collapse together inward like a bowl (originally it was flat) and some of the pieces were missing. Also, this stained glass window had been underlaid by light tubes to illuminate the colorful glass at one time, but that whole mechanism had broken down, along with the wiring. Also, it was very dirty. Jesse turned the entire scenario around1 The stained glass pieces were so tiny that it is amazing he could even put this together again, but he did, and with excellence! Now it is appropriately flat again, and he cleaned all those tiny glass pieces! He even repaired the whole lighting mechanism! He added an important scaffolding to help fortify its structure as well. He really knows what he is doing and is very pleasant to work with! His fee is very fair. Attached are photos of his work, one with the lights off & one with them on. About 10 years ago, my daughter put her hands through our front door, which had a large oval stained glass window. We found Jesse at the Chicago Bungalow Expo, as well as a few other art glass places. We just bought a house, and one of the windows on our porch that should be art glass was just plain glass. According to neighbors the old owners broke it when they moved out (classy). So my wife emailed here and a few other places getting quotes. We thought they'd be good because they have the exact same window on the website. And when we got the emails back this place was the cheapest. Jesse came out last month to do a rubbing and measurements and stuff. We had sent him a picture but he needed more exact info. He didn't even need to go inside. He said that due to the holidays it would take a little while to get the window finished. He was done about when he said, and then I just had to schedule an hour for him to come by and install it. He did that mostly all from outside as well, but had to touch up a little inside. My husband and I recently purchased a bungalow in Oak Park. I needed to re-work windows I got from a local savage place. They were in the original, beat frames, and were mounted horizontal above doorways. They were dirty and loose. I interviewed several glass artisans, and selected Jessie. In addition to cleaning and securing the glass, he had to remove, match, and create a new border for the windows a different size from the original. And make another matching window from scratch. Recently, we had our stained glass windows "unearthed" from the plaster burial performed upon them by the previous owners of our 100 year old 2 -flat building. We had a section of plaster, plywood and insulation removed above our mantel during remodeling. Beneath all the material we found two stained glass windows. One was in good condition and the other was destroyed, save a few surviving panes. I called Jesse at Mulligan Stained Glass and hired him. He did a magnificent job at refurbishing the one and completely rebuilding the other. Now over our mantle we have two beautiful windows. In the afternoon, sunlight pours through the stained glass, illuminating the room. Periodically, I just walk into the living room, stare at the glass and smile. In some small way, with Jesse's help, we have restored a bit of the building back to a period where the arts and crafts of another age added style and grace to a working class building. We had an art-glass window above the fireplace in our old Bungalow that needed a matching piece. Jesse did a fantastic job recreating it. Not only was the new glass stunningly close to the original design, he installed it himself, thereby eliminating the hassle of finding a carpenter. He's fast too. He comes, he looks, he tells you what he thinks, he asks you what you think, he emails you mockups and a few weeks later he's back to put your glass in. He'll also work with you to customize a piece. We loved our fireplace window so much, we had him make us a brand new piece for a different window and then a third piece to hang on a wall. We plan on bringing him back to restore our bookshelf doors and some of our old block glass. Avoid the overpriced antique stores on Lincoln and the cheap faux stuff from Home Depot.
