Empire State Plumbing - Our technician Dan installed this combi boiler. It came out very nice!

    Empire State Plumbing

Empire plumbing was not so good. I won't have them back for any future work and cannot recommend…read more I called to get an estimate, after doing extensive research on my issue/problem. The work I was requesting was an exact match for a job pictured on their website in the gallery of photos and in the 'before and after' section. I had spoken to another company and received a verbal estimate prior to calling empire. I asked for an estimate for a well pressure tank replacement, and knew that includes the pressure switch and T "pack". Was told that there would be a $90 dollar "dispatch/estimate" fee and they could fit me in at the end of the week. I questioned why I needed to pay for an estimate when I knew the exact problem, and solution and offered to send pictures of the job. I also mentioned it was close to the same exact thing (job) shown on their website. The office person explained that every job is different and they, the technician/plumber, needed to put eyes on it for any quote and that costs the fee. I had also asked if I went ahead with the work, would the estimate fee be applied to the work, and I was shocked to hear the response of no.I thought it was strange but scheduled the visit, because I basically didn't have water and I already had one other quote. I was told the tech would be there between 730-830 on the day at the end of the week. I asked if they would call before arrival and was told yes. The following day, it didn't sit right with me that I was paying for an estimate when i knew exactly what I needed, so I called back to ask. I also asked if the tech would be bringing the parts (new tank) with him so he would come prepared in order to reduce the time spent if I went ahead with the work. Keep in mind, my house would have no water during the installation / tank replacement. I also asked what brand tank they use. The person that I spoke with was the same that booked my appointment, She said she would ask both questions and get back to me. she didn't call back the next day, so I gave it until the following day which was the day before the appointment. She said they couldn't waive the estimate fee but if I went with the work and since I was a new customer, they could try to do something. I woke up on the morning of the appointment, earlier than I normally do for work, had the area all cleaned and cleared the night prior and put my pets away close to their arrival time. I had gotten a text at 1 in the morning saying they were on their way? Time was ticking and 730 passed. I got a call from the office saying the tech was sent on an emergency call and so my appointment was bumped back to 10-12 arrival now, instead of the 730-830. So I immediately asked? I won't have to pay for the estimate, right? Being that my appointment got post-poned, I already knew the job, and that I had taken time off from work and had pets for this appointment that was made and confirmed early in the week. She agreed that if I went with them for the job, then they would ask the tech to waive the estimate fee. I got a text at 1053 saying 'on the way' and so I started getting ready again, for the 11-12 arrival. After 45 mins, still no arrival so I called the office. I figured that the text saying on the way, meant they were on the way, or close. I was told they were coming from previous job in Hudson. Okay fine but Hudson is 45 mins from where I live and it had been close to an hour since I got the text. Text was at 10:53 am saying on way. I called into office around 1135. They showed up at 12:17, 1 hour and 24 minutes after the "on the way" text AND late past the arrival window time for the 2nd time after the original postponement. The tech apologized and explained he worked the overnight shift the night before and explained why I got the "on the way" text the night before at 1 am. He had clicked the wrong job the night before. Okay fine. Mistakes happen. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and start fresh & positive. I explained symptoms and immediately said he didn't need to see it (examples or symptoms) that he would go to truck to write estimate. Came back a short time later with a fixed price. The price was high and wasn't based on hours of labor, and instead was a "fixed price" based on the job. Now that is exactly what I asked for over the phone and the office said they spoke to plumber, office manager, and owner and to tell me they can't do that. Strike 2 or 3 or 4... I had no water, I asked what tank brand they use and he said it varies they couldn't tell me. I had them do the work and it took many many hours, but not of work, of mostly waiting & standing around. They left and left me with 3 new problems. I pointed out the one I saw during the "checkout" and he said he didn't work there or touch that so it wasn't part of the work or responsibility and it absolutely 100% was. I wasted a day off from work and spent hard earned money and am unsatisfied. The next day, no hot water.

Three years ago i replaced my Carrier Air conditioner (which worked great for 25 years without repairs.) with a Lenox furnace and a 5 ton Lenox Central Air conditioner for $13,000. Two days ago, my Lenox Central Air stopped throwing cold air. I called Appolo, since I bought it from them, realizing it was under warranty for 5 years.I was told by the repairman that there was no coolant in the system and I would be charged to diagnose where the leak was. He informed me the pin hole was in the evaporator coil and would need to be replaced. I was told I had to pay for today's charge and would be notified with the total amount for repairs. My charge for the technician to come and diagnose the issue was around $500 (no repairs included).y I shared the price with some friends only to discover how ridiculous the price was. This company wanted to charge over $3000 in addition to repair my unit. The warranty did not cover any labor and would not cover the $3000 part because I did not have the annual cleaning. BEWARE of Appolo Heating. Their labor costs are insane and there isn't any support for the customer. I will NEVER do business with this company again nor will any of my friends and family. Jerry C.

It was a one man job than only took about 30 minutes. I'd give them 5 stars except for the price, which was not unreasonable for the time spent. I mentioned that we are selling the house and we were looking to repair an issue with the water pressure for the new owners. The plumber that came by called me and told me his recommendations. Two days later, I received an estimate for much more than what was recommended on the phone, and an invoice for the estimate itself. I responded questioning that estimate charge, because it wasn't mentioned in advance, and why there was work on the estimate that we were told we wouldn't need. The woman that responded was nice with her explanations, but it still doesn't sit right with me to charge for an estimate, or to not say that ahead of time. A week later, she called to follow up, and I told her because it was a Yelp thing, someone else was taking a look for us and I would be in touch if we wanted to continue with them; or I would pay the invoice for the estimate online. The other company that came told us everything Mr. Rooter had added to their estimate was not needed. If those things were a problem, we would have no water. So it would have been a waste of money. Two weeks later, after not reaching out to me again to follow up, she called my realtor and threatened to put a lien on our house, and interfere with the sale, if we don't pay the $200 estimate fee! That is extremely unprofessional! and $200 is very high, considering it cost your company nothing in parts, etc, and your employee was only at my home for 16 minutes. I am far from happy with my experience. Tyler, their plumber, was great! He seemed to know exactly what it was talking about, he was very nice on the phone and professional. But their office is a disaster and the customer service is a 1/10. To respond.. I never spoke tot Tyler over the phone regarding the bill, nor was I ever rude to him in any manner. I was never told in advance about any fees for estimates, so I would love to hear the recorded call you claim you have. I also responded to the email with the invoice for the estimate that I was unaware of a charge for it, and the response I received was "yes, that was our failure to communicate." I also did not say I would be using the estimate in negotiations for my sale, so it was not a "real estate estimate." It was a homeowner trying to get work done on their home. And the work is the home needs IS being done, by someone else. You are simply unhappy that I got multiple estimates done, and chose someone else, which I have every right to do, whether I am selling the home or not. Good luck to you and your corporate business.

In some cases, with some of other dishonest companies that want to take a large amount of your money without even doing adequate work, the comparison can be of Reimer being Angelic from heaven and those other businesses absolute hell. ELI and JORGE put in a new furnace. Couldn't believe how hard they worked! In a relatively small area in a walk-in closet(with other items stored),ELI had to himself lift the heavy new and old heaters for the job! They worked together, keeping my floors pristine. The person who installed the new boiler apparently installed every single aspect incorrectly. He also barely spoke English and, when I asked why the new system didn't seem to work, he hopped in his orange truck and drove away. Just drove away. Didn't say goodbye, didn't even try to make it work. The wiring was wrong, all zones were set up incorrectly, main water valves were installed 'backward,' the plastic parts to keep the heat from going to every zone weren't installed, the pipes were installed far too close together to work correctly. The expansion tank was faulty and installed in the wrong spot, which could impact its ability to function. Outdoor exhaust pipes were supposed to be above snow level, for obvious reasons, but were installed very low. I also have a 3-story home, and the boiler apparently does not have the power to heat the third floor - something I of course wasn't told beforehand. My old boiler had no problem with that. But, okay, I'll hope heat rises. People who have tried to make it work since the stunningly bad installation include Elijah, Alex, Charlie, Ron, Charlie again, Ron again, Matt, Bruce, Elijah again, Brandon, Myles, Ron again, Ron again, Christian, Brandon again, Brandon again, and Fred. All together, there have been over 20 visits from Reimer since September - and I was traveling for nearly 2 months or it would no doubt have been more. This $19,100 boiler was very expensive, the Reimer salesman said, because it is such a quality product and they do a superior job. Turns out, one visiting tech then told me they don't install this type of boiler any more because they are terrible - something a tech should not tell a client, after the fact. Fred, a longtime and knowledgable technician, seems to have maybe fixed the problems, as the boiler has now worked for about 2 weeks. So, if you are forced to use Reimer - and I'd suggest major dental surgery would be far more fun and simple - ask for Fred only.
