First off, can I just say that the showroom was meticulous, tasteful, organized and big? You feel like you're walking into a museum. They even have classical music with falsetto, their office has wall arts and stuff. Kudos to the interior designer. I didn't even want to leave after I paid. There were guitars lying around and I just wanted to stick around and play. I picked this one after going through yelp because I like small businesses with a personal touch. They're usually more honest and the prices are reasonable. I don't like businesses that are "mechanical" and "corporate" it's like you're dealing with robots. I also like the name of the business, how elegant. I don't understand why they would get 1-star reviews, but as I read through them I noticed that these people are usually scumbags or liers. All the reviews are either 5 star or 1 star. I'm glad that I didn't take their word for it. There's always one person that is a pain in the ass I guess, that's the cost of business I think. Despite overwhelmingly large selection, Kevin was informative and honest so we were able to make a decision fast. He was not pushy at all or did he try to upsell the product that is not my best option. We received the floors after a few days and we are really happy with the color and quality. We checked out lumber liquidators and they were much more expensive compared to what we got. This floor is going in our new office and our wide planked and just beautiful. Bought materials and had them do install throughout my whole house. I was hesitant at first based on their lack of Yelp reviews, but after visiting the showroom many times and doing my diligence, I'm glad I did. They did a great job, quickly and at a good price. Their install guys are fast, clean and professional. The only time I've seen guys this diligent was in Hong Kong. They work, work, work and simply put... they don't goof off. After the first few hours, I could tell I was watching a well oiled machine. The showroom prices their wood and labor very competitively. I checked many, many stores before deciding on them. After negotiating other stores down, I got to the same price Mulan Floor offered off the bat. Their pricing allows them to do a lot of volume, and vice versa. They are busy, like any good professional in the business. Just sitting in the showroom for a while you can see how busy they are. So, here's the thing about this place. In the showroom, Mandarin is the primary language. If you can't speak it, you have to communicate to the manager through a younger guy named Jimmy who speaks English. As with any remodel project, be VERY clear about what you require that isn't included in the labor charge - baseboard, stairs, sideboards, any necessary plywood subflooring, thresholds, etc. These things, along with glue, are charged separately like they are everywhere else. When it comes install time, their install guys speak English. On my install, I had one thing to fix and they took care of it. All in all, I'm very happy with the job they did and won't hesitate to use them on my next remodel. read more

I'm somewhat of a skeptic so when I see a business with only 5-star reviews, I can't help but think they were written by friends of the business. So I shopped around A LOT before bothering to visit this place. I hit up the usual big box stores thinking that, the bigger the company/inventory, the better the deals. But after realizing that, though the bigger chains might be cheaper, the quality of their product is sub-par and their inventory list not always reliable. Exasperation led me here and thank goodness it did. Their prices are extremely competitive and the quality of their stock beautiful and of high quality. I was debating between bamboo and hardwood flooring before walking in here, however they didn't have the color I was looking for in bamboo. But, no matter, they had plenty of hardwood choices that more than suited my tastes. I chose an engineered hardwood after they explained to me the differences in the various hardwoods and optimal wear-layer thickness. They came out and measured my floor space and wrote up a very specific quote that broke down all the expenses, down to the amount of glue and baseboards needed. There were no hidden fees or last minute costs whatsoever. And, because I had shopped around so much already, I knew the their prices were extremely fair even without me having to negotiate. On the day of installation, four of their guys came out with their equipment and installed everything in about 6 hours. They even covered the floors afterwards with paper and tape at no additional cost, since my house was still undergoing other renovations that could scratch the new floors. Really couldn't ask for a better experience: quality product, quality work, and really cool people to deal with. In the midst of pondering which one of the two recommended wood floor vendors to use, we found Mulan on Yelp, and was impressed with its many 5-star reviews. Came with skepticism, we checked out the store on a saturday afternoon without an appointment. We were immediately impressed with its sizable storefront and wide selections. With the patient help of a sales associate (whom we later on found out to be the lady boss herself), we narrowed down our choices and secured couple of great options. Upon having selected the flooring we desired we asked Mulan to provide us with a quote. They were able to schedule measurement fairly quickly and the subsequent quote delivered expeditiously. Pricing was reasonable. WIth the confidence we gained after visiting the store and its many great positive reviews, we decided to go with Mulan. They were able to schedule installation within the time period that we wanted. There was a small hiccup on the material supply side but Mulan was able to resolve it quickly. On installation day, the installers, along with the other owner, came on time. Before installation, the owner double checked the materials and requested that I confirm the amount of the materials purchased, for which I appreciated. The installers then started working on the floor. They were friendly, professional, and clean. The owner would come visit frequently to check on status, making sure things go smoothly. The entire job completed as originally scheduled, and I was more than satisfied with the final result - The floor looks better than I expected and it's beautiful! Also, the fine areas that required details were done meticulously. When it came time to pay the final bill, Mulan was honest enough to credit some of the unused materials and the final bill came less than the quoted amount. To show my appreciation, I personally went over to the store to deliver the final payment and to thank the owners and their team, and in return, they thanked me by giving me a gift - a wood floor cleaning kit! Eric from Mulan Floor was the most detail-oriented and knowledgeable person that we met. He brought many different wood samples to our house to test how they would look in the different light settings in our house and helped us select the perfect dark grey floors that we wanted. Eric was also able to squeeze us into the schedule and completed our 1600 sq feet house including demolition in just four days! We are amazed with the results. The baseboards were completely replaced to match the existing crown modeling of our house. All the floors were laid flush against the existing tile and fire place. This is our 2nd time using Mulan Floor. At first, we have upgraded our 2nd floor with Mulan a year ago and was very much impressed with their high quality works. We have mixed marble tiles and carpet installed by the builder. We would like the transition between the marble and wood to be fully flush and they have done it perfectly. They have also done our stair nicely. On the 2nd time, we have used Mulan for the 1st floor upgrade. Once again, we are very happy with the results. I found Mulan Floors after a long Yelp-based search, and ultimately went to go see them based on (a) their great reviews and (b) the fact that the reviews seemed legitimate. Mulan Floors was far more fabulous than I could have anticipated. I have been ceaselessly impressed with the company, with Kevin Liu (whom I worked with), and with the crew that ultimately installed our floors. Kevin, in particular, is extremely professional, honest, and goes the extra mile to make sure customers are satisfied. Their prices are more than fair---particularly given the great level of service. The work they did on our house looks pristine: both the wood and the tile (which they also installed for us, though they do not directly sell).
