Tucked away between the busy King and Queen st W., Mula Yoga is a serene studio with insightful and giving teachers. It's a great studio to focus on your practice and just be. It's a one room studio that has built a welcoming community. Depending on the teacher, mat placement is different. It has all the basic props such as blocks & straps, they even have yoga wheels for specific classes! Most of my visits I forgot or it was inconvenient to bring a mat and they have Manduka Prolite mats for rental. Ladies change room is spacious with hangers and cubbyholes. Lastly, I visit Mula whenever I can and I love the classes with Hana as they are challenging yet mindful. Her classes are integrative, creative and playful. They have lots of community events such as yoga in the park and charity classes too. It's a studio uniquely it's own, with ego left at the door and coming to the mat as you are. read more

I decided to try this studio after reading good reviews on Yelp and because there was a Groupon (discount for a 10 class pass). I had first heard about Mula when I picked up a flyer for their yoga retreat in Bali at a local cafe. I'm so glad I found Mula Yoga. I have tried several studios across the city and have found the perfect balance here. Mula has pretty much everything I've been looking for in a studio: - Reasonable prices - Good variety of class times 7 days a week - Rigorous, challenging classes without a competitive atmosphere - Equally welcoming to those for whom yoga is a philosophy or way of life as well as those for whom yoga is mainly a way to exercise and de-stress - Small class size with individual attention and a sense of community - Beautiful, clean space - Quiet location, easily accessible by 501 or 504 streetcars - No attitude! Some earlier reviews commented that the classes are mainly geared to beginners, but this seems to have changed. There are some level 2-3 classes (I'm not there yet!). I have been going to the level 1/2 vinyasa classes and they are great as Hana workshops different poses that people want to work on (inversions, backbends, etc.). I've been able to get up into headstand because of some helpful tips/spotting from the classes, whereas at other studios I would just do the prep and never try to go up on my own. I have only taken classes from the owner, Hana. She's fabulous and bring an infectious energy to the classes. I can't speak to the other teachers, but hopefully can try their classes soon too. They also host special events, 30 day challenges, retreats, etc. The best way to find out about them is to join the email list or FB or twitter. The studio is large, airy, and bright. The changeroom is simple -- there is 1 shower. It's not the spa-like atmosphere you would find at 889 yoga or YYoga, but it's well kept and has everything you need. It's always a treat to come here and as a bonus, there are so many great lunch/snack options within walking distance for a post-yoga bite! read more

Mula yoga is absolutely wonderful! Although I don't live in the area, I make the trip to the studio because of the attentive and knowledgable instructors and the beautiful studio space. They have a variety of styles of classes and I've tried all of the evening classes with different instructors. I especially enjoy the restorative with reiki class taught by Julia, which is something that isn't offered at other studios I've been to. It's a great class to attend after a long day at work or school. I also really enjoy the classes taught by Hana because of her unique and challenging sequences. She encourages her students to push themselves while ensuring the practice is entirely safe. In addition, the atmosphere at Mula Yoga allows any newcomers (to yoga or the studio) to feel comfortable and confident in attaining a meaningful practice. It's also a fantastic studio to build upon an already existing practice as the instructors are very skilled and have lots of experience. Definitely check it out!! read more

Mula Yoga - Beautiful orchids at Mula! - Yoga Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

They had a groupon deal and I was excited and nervous about going to this class. I haven't been doing yoga for long and kept stopping so I was nowhere near as limber as the people I see in class. Being off of Niagara street, it was easily accesible from Queen or King street. The studio is an assuming building on Mitchell. Inside was clean and inviting, with students and teachers interacting with each other. My instructor, Meg, introduced herself right away and was very friendly. I went to a Yin class. It was exactly what I needed. Meg was soft spoken and really helpful. I loved that she also used props in her practice--made her feel a bit more human than other instructors. I felt like even though I'm just starting, I can still work alongside others who are more advanced and not feel intimidated. I'm excited for the next 9 classes I have with the groupon and look forward to trying other classes while I'm there. read more

This is a wonderful studio. Its clean, bright, and beautiful. Yesterday, the sun was streaming in and it was the perfect environment to practice. The change rooms are big, airy, have clean showers and bathrooms, and Hana (the owner) provides the nicest soaps and lotions. Hana is usually at the front desk or teaching a class. She's warm, friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Her classes work for a wide variety of yoga abilities. If she's not teaching then she is practicing right beside us. I can only speak for the Vinyasa Flow classes, but be prepared to sweat. The Vinyasa class is vigorous and challenging, but doesn't take itself too seriously. I think that I have laughed in nearly every class that I have taken. The yoga practice here focuses on you. Hana ensures that the class is non-competitive and you practice in a safe fashion. I have been to other studios where the teacher will ignore you if you can't bend into a full pretzel. This place is the anti-thesis of those other studios that make you feel less than. I'm glad that I bought the Groupon to try it out, and I will be practicing here for a long time. read more

This is a neighbourhood yoga studio that doesn't have all the bells and whistles compared to some other places. However, the people here are very friendly and make you feel comfortable and welcome, no matter what your ability level. The main room has nice, high ceilings but there are a couple of pillars that can get in the way if you're in a full class. The change rooms are quite simple with a few hooks and some cubbies. I think I like bells and whistles... read more

Mula is one of my favourite yoga studios - I always get excited about going to class there because I learn something new every time, whether it's a pose (or at least progression toward a pose) or tidbit of life wisdom. As someone who has practised consistently for about three years, I am always reminded about how much more there is to learn when I go to Mula. I find the Energy Flow and Level 1/2 Vinyasa classes to have a great balance of familiar and new, and the sequencing (and assists) makes challenging poses that I'm not yet ready for seem more achievable. Oh, and fantastic, uplifting playlists! I would definitely join as a member if I lived closer. read more

I was taking the class at Mula Yoga since December. All the teachers are very helpful and helped push me to the next level. I can tell that my body is not same as before. It much stronger and more stable when I play other sports. Mula is located just 2 minutes walk from Queen West. I can grab coffee, lunch or dinner just after the classes. It's so convenient for me. BTW the shower and changing room is always clean and fresh!! read more

By far my favourite yoga studio in Toronto, and I'm sad I don't live close by anymore. The atmosphere here is so welcoming, friendly, and non- judgemental. The studio doesn't even have mirrors, so you aren't looking at other people in your class- just focusing on yourself and your body. Every instructor is skilled and engaging and I always learn something new. My absolute fave class is the 90 minute "flow and let go" class on Sunday afternoons. I always walk out of that class feeling refreshed and relaxed, like I just had a massage! read more

I was left feeling really discouraged after attempting to go to Mula for a class tonight. I've practiced yoga in the past, and have been trained to teach it, so when I saw the Groupon I thought it would be a good way to strengthen my practice. I trekked out in the rain and arrived half an hour before the class I intended to take started so I could fill out the waiver, etc.. When I arrived, I was told I would have to wait outside in the rain for another 15 minutes-- the doors to the building apparently don't open until 15 minutes before the class starts. The woman who told me this was unsympathetic to the fact that I needed time to fill out a waiver, and frankly, was rude. I was already pretty soaked, and decided that if I had to wait outside in the rain for 15 minutes, I would be too wet to even take a class. I like to get into savasana and meditate 10-15 minutes before a class begins, so opening the doors to the building 15 minutes before class just doesn't work for me. I'm left with a Groupon for a studio I feel uncomfortable returning to. Maybe the classes are amazing? But go on a day when it isn't raining. read more

Like most others, I was drawn to this studio by the Groupon offer. I haven't quite found a yoga studio that I want to commit to, but Mula is definitely up there! It's a great, secluded little space that's still very accessible. The classes are smaller and more intimate than others that I've been to which is great. The atmosphere is very relaxing and welcoming - some studios seem very stuffy and uptight but Mula doesn't give that kind of vibe. The decor is very simple and minimal, none of that super duper fancy bamboo trees and wooden paneled walls, just nice high ceilings and cleanly designed space. I find that this kind of environment helps me focus on my practice and intention more. The classes have a great pace and Hana is amazing! She's very attentive and really makes the class smooth and enjoyable. I really have nothing but good things to say about this studio! read more

Gorgeous studio, and great schedule. They have morning classes, and a good variety of evening classes, that you don't have to rush out of work to get to. Hana and Julia are fantastic instructors, and I love that it's not super crowded and competitive. The weekend classes are really popular, so you need to arrive a bit earlier. They keep their classes challenging and fresh, so you never get bored. I love coming here! read more

Thank you to the instructors at Mula Yoga for all of their wonderful classes and the very positive experience at this new and amazing yoga studio. My practice has improved tremendously and I owe much of it to the quality of their instruction. Not to mention that the yoga space is so beautiful that it makes for the perfect yoga setting. The fine touches of candles, incense and light hearted humour have made this my favourite yoga studio. read more

Mula yoga is the best in the city. The facilities are sunny, clean, and beautifully designed; you'll feel at ease the moment you walk in the door. The studio is in a convenient location near the south end of Trinity-Bellwoods Park, and although it is right downtown, it feels like a bit of an oasis on a quiet side street. All of the staff are kind and approachable and not at all intimidating. Every class that I've taken has had a good mix of newer and more advanced students, which makes for a great atmosphere. Even as a newcomer, I feel a sense of community in the space, which is really refreshing compared to some of the other studios I've been to. I would highly recommend classes with Julia. I have taken several with her and have enjoyed them all and left the studio each time feeling wonderful! read more

did the early bird groupon. LOVING IT. I have practiced yoga before so I haven't had too much trouble doing some of the basic poses, but I feel if you are a complete and utter novice the morning classes might not be the best as Hana can move through poses fairly quickly. However, there are foundation classes available in the evening, but I work in a restaurant 70 hours a week and morning classes are my only option. The instructors are very welcoming, the facility is very clean. The studio is maintained, restful, they provide blocks, straps, bolsters, etc. all stacked neatly in the corner of the studio. For me to really relax and focus I need to be in an environment where I feel relaxed, not surrounded by clutter which mula provides. I was going to do the aum yoga groupon until I read all of the HORRIBLE yelp reviews and decided on mula yoga instead and I am so glad I did. read more

I have been going to Mula as a regular student since 2014. After I had knee surgery my physiotherapist recommended yoga to help build strength and flexibility. Believe me, I never saw myself doing yoga, as I thought it was too "slow" and my flexibility was very poor. I purchased the 30 day new student package at Mula, as I actually lived down the street from the studio. You feel welcomed the minute you walk in the door. Hana and Julia are such wonderful instructors and they provide lots of 1:1 attention, suggestions on how to improve your practice and adjustments. The studio is quiet, and even when at capacity you still feel like you have lots of room to breathe (not like Downward Dog around the corner where someone else's sweat will be dripping on your mat). Fast-forward to today, and I am a self-proclaimed "yogI". Thanks to Hana and Julia, I have progressed from basic beginner classes to level 2/3. Their classes have beautiful flows, are continually challenging and make you feel amazing. I feel like I am now part of a wonderful community, and still attend 4-5x per week despite moving further away from the studio. It is worth the trip!! read more

I don't go consistently every week, or every month for that matter, but Hannah and the entire studio are always so warm and amazing! I absolutely love the atmosphere, the cleanliness, the tranquility, and the teachers. I always leave Mula feeling relaxed and refreshed! A million thumbs up read more

Hana is very friendly and welcoming. The studio itself is beautiful, love the practice room. The classes are wonderful, my only complaint is difficulty level seems to be geared mostly o beginners, but they are a newer studio so it is understandable. It's hard finding this studio since it's quite hidden, but easily accessible. Will continue to drop in from time to time. read more
