When I came to this office I had records with me from my regular dentist who had performed my exam less than two months prior. Later in the year when my regular dentist performed my second exam of the year that should have been covered by my insurance, it was rejected due to the oral surgeon's office billing for an "exam" that did not take place. I was left responsible to pay for the actual exam that was rejected.

I understand that that is the norm everywhere, but had the staff been a bit more knowledgeable about the way the doctor operates (no pun intended, in this case), I could have avoided that unnecessary fee. Just know this all ahead of time and you'll be fine. If you feel it necessary to read the full event, continue on: My only complaint is that before even making an appointment I had told the staff that I would only be in town for 6 days, and that I had a blocked salivary gland that would require a bit of mild surgery, asking if it would be able to be taken care of while I was in town (under a 6 day time frame). I was told, sure, come on in, the doctor would decide what to do. They were kind and good enough to schedule me for the mild surgery on the same day of the appointment (a Monday). In meeting with the doctor on Monday, however, I find out that he uses actual stitches to create less of a scar (I respect that entirely), but that he therefore needs to see me again a week from now, to take the stitches out and to see that it has healed properly, which is not a possibility in my case. Also, to my own detriment I had popped the little saliva bubble a few days earlier, which was a calculated risk on my part because the bigger the bubble is, the larger the incision to remove it is = the more risk of loss of feeling to your lip and a larger scar = not at all what I wanted. So I should not have done that. My bad.

I'm not sure that the "mild chewing pain" is a hint that the tooth needs extraction. I'm going to another dentist for a 2nd opinion next week. To get the suggested work done, I have to wait till January (with the chewing pain) for the dental surgeon.

Dr. Lovette takes the time to be extra careful. I, like some people, loathe going to the dentist. I even teeter on the edge that I am afraid to go to the dentist. I often picture the bad guy from 'Little Shop of Horrors' when I think of a dentist. Not Dr. Lovette, he frequently stops what he is doing to make sure that you are fine and then proceeds. He knows all the little techniques to distract you so that you aren't thinking too much about whatever procedure he might be performing. A little perk if you do come here. Majority of parking is metered and they are strict with the meter reading. If by chance you forgot to bring quarters along with you they have them inside so you do not get a parking ticket. Where else could you go that would do that for you? Love when they go the extra mile for you.

I'm 21 years old and have always been terrified of going to the dentist since I was little. After 8…read moreyears of dental dodging, I finally developed a few cavities and quite a bit of pain. I broke down and realized I needed help. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Dr. Gonsman. Aside from being very close to my home, he brought me in hours within me calling to schedule an appt. I waited less than 3 minutes in the waiting room to get back to the exam room. His assistant took me back and took my xrays. Everyone was extremely friendly. The Dr came in and was very pleasant. He talked to me through the entire exam and gave me soooo much helpful info. and my cleaning was great too. He showed me on my xrays exactly where and what i needed done. He gave me the option between silver and composite fillings and explained each very clearly, making sure to let me know the composites may cost a little more. I opted for the composites for their color, and To my surprise, the composites were incredibly afforable even with my insurance paying only a little over half. A week later he put in my 5 composites, and although I was extremely anxious being that I've never had fillings, they did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable and had as little pain as possible. He talked to me through the procedure, allowed my husband to be around for my comfort and made sure to let me know to tell him if I had any pain at all during and stopped as soon as I had any and took care of it. He took his time on my teeth and they turned out beautifully. After it was all said and done they made payment arrangements with me and my tight budget to pay off my work(which was a great price, even with me being on unemployment) This was an absolutely wonderful experience for me and for the first time in my life Im EXCITED to go back to the dentist. I will definitely be recommending Dr Gonsman to friends and family. This is how dentistry should be. Comfortable. Inviting. Informative. Thorough.

This office deserves more than 5 stars. I have had two children go through oral surgery with Dr…read more Hitchan. One was 8 yrs old and the other 21 yrs old at the time of surgery. Very different procedures but both were amazing experiences. All of our appointments have been prompt. Very little wait if any. Dr. Hitchan is approachable, warm, and knowledgeable. His office staff is friendly but more so, they treat you like a person instead of a number. Diane spent the greater part of a half an hour on the phone with me prior to my 21 yr old daughter's surgery discussing her great anxiety and how to make the process more comfortable for her both emotionally and physically. She took every step she could to make things better for her. When I was unable to go back with her to hold my daughter's hand during surgery prep, Diane promised me she would hold her hand the entire time. She did. During prep and during surgery. When we got to the car to leave, my daughter (under anesthesia) went on and on about Diane being the best person she has ever met in her whollleeee life. :) For her follow-up, I couldn't be there and once again, at the first sign of anxiety, Diane was at her side. Diane single-handedly made sure this experience was a positive one for her. In addition, Dr. Hitchan called the evening of each of my children's surgery to check on them. The doctor. Not his staff.
