Terribly disappointed. I have been coming to this shop for years. It used to be operated by a middle age gentleman by the name of Armando. The last few times I have been here, I have been robbed by a younger man with a beard. Never introduced himself by the way. Run from this place! I went in for some work. He charged me three times the amount for the parts needed. I found this out because I researched pricing myself. He then added on extra hours for labor, which is $120 an hour. During these hard times, these mechanics should realize their license is not to steal from honest, hard working people. As I went to pick up my vehicle, he had recommended other break work, which was an extra $800 dollars. His quote for this was outrageous and falsely made due to the fact that I had the exact same work he recommend done two months prior in Indiana. In my opinion, the facts are that this new person in charge is extremely dishonest with part pricing and labor time. PLEASE RUN! read more

I have to agree with everyone else here. I never would have gone to this place if it wasn't for Yelp, and since it was so close to home and had rave reviews I decided to give it a chance. I went in on a busy Saturday morning. Even though the parking lot was packed, Armando was able to take a look at my car right away (vs every time I've gone to Pep Boys they tell me it will be 2-3 hours). A little later he brought me over and showed me what was wrong with my exhaust system, and gave me a few different options to fix it - one quick and inexpensive and one that would cost a little more. He didn't try to pressure me and in fact said the more expensive option probably wasn't necessary, but he wanted me to know what was available. Armando was great, he got the work done quickly and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Also I think someone else mentioned it being cash only - while it seemed like cash was preferred, I didn't have any trouble using my credit card to pay. Definitely will come back here if I need any more work done on my car in the future! read more

I recently bought my first car (used). It's a great car, but apparently the 60k mile check was never done on it, and I found this out the hard way when I tried to go somewhere and my car started lurching. At the advice of my dad, I had already researched mechanics and decided that if there were troubles with my car, I would bring it to Mufflers Four Less. Sadly, I turned around and drove my car to Mufflers Four Less. They listened carefully as I explained the lurching and pulled the car into the garage right away. I live nearby so I went home. They called me soon after and told me that I needed spark plugs replaced, which they could do for me. I said yes, and asked them to just perform the 60k mile check. They also wound up topping off all my fluids and replacing my front break pads. They did not do anything without calling me first and asking if I wanted it done, which I really appreciated. When I went to pick up my car only about 2 hours later, the price for all their work was so low, and they did an excellent job! I was thoroughly pleased. A couple days later, convinced my tires were going flat (I am completely neurotic, and apparently unable to work a tire pressure gauge), I pulled back into Mufflers Four Less and asked for help. They checked my tires, pumped them with air, and did not laugh at me once, as they probably should have. I would love to give this place 15 stars because that's what they deserve. They advertise $25 for an oil change...dirt cheap, right? It is, but you get what you pay for: low quality, conventional motor oil. BUT, here's a little secret about this place: buy higher quality oil and your oil filter at the Autozone on Western and bring it to them and they'll only charge you $15 for labor!!!!! Less than 1/2 the cost of Jiffy Lube all in. Amazing. And they did a great job with the change (although, let's be honest, changing a car's oil is not rocket science!). (I'm someone that knows a lot about cars and can tell what he's looking at) so being talked to like a human and him showing me what i need done, made me really trust them with my car. fair prices and didn't have to wait long. was super surprised to find a place like this in the city. read more

Quoted price for a new muffler was very reasonable, they got me right in and finished early, and they knocked some money off the estimate because they worked quickly. This place does decent work for cheap. They dont use factory or premade parts. They usually bend and fabricate the pipe or part to fit your vehicle which is fine because it saves money. However this guy is totally dishonest. Ive been there 3 times throughout the years and its the same every time. He'll quote you a price and when it's finished he'll try to charge you $50 more then quoted. He'll be really nice about it saying that he'll need cash because the credit card machine is out of paper for receipt(every time) Then Hes gonna run your card for the initial amount and he'll tell you to come back with the $50 cash later in the day. I've been twice now in the last year, once for brakes and once for an oil change. You really can trust these guys. They are so nice, prices are good, and they don't give you a list of a bunch of things wrong with your car like a lot of places do. As a bonus, the location is convenient for me too. When my battery died I had my car towed here on the recommendation of a neighbor - and I'm so glad I found this place. We didn't even have to go to the shop, but spoke with Armando (great, great, guy) on the phone and he said we could pick up the car the next day. He fixed the alternator for a good price and also asked about the rattling sound, which I said was a loose heat shield, and he offered to deal with that for free. I agree with the other reviewers. Armando is a super nice guy and is extremely honest. Unlike most other mechanics, he'll actually fix something rather than replacing everything in an effort to save you money, I just took my fiancee's car over there and he replaced the muffler, flex pipe, exhaust pipe, front brake rotors, and cleaned and adjusted the brakes all for just $270. The mechanic across the street from my house recently told us that the back brakes would need to be completely replaced and that there were very few parts that could be reused. Armando took them apart and said that they were perfectly fine. This was the first time that I had ever been over to see Armando but it certainly won't be the last. read more

My catalytic converter was stolen about a year and a half ago. I came here and had it replaced for about $1,000. Now, not even two years later, my check engine light comes on. I take it to a mechanic I use regularly and trust. And he tells me that the catalytic converter that was installed was too small and needs to be replaced. Again. For about $1,000. I'd skip these guys and go to a shop where you won't need to buy a replacement way too soon. So mad. read more

Absolutely awful place! Brought our Grand Marquis in to have our spark plugs changed. They changed the spark plugs (took them over a day to do it). The car was immediately misfiring after we got it back. They refuse to take responsibility for the issue and fix it. Turns out our ignition coils failed due to the work they had done (we had them changed not that long beforehand). We had to get our car towed to a new mechanic. Cost us an additional $300+ to get it fixed elsewhere. Service here was terrible, DO NOT GO HERE! read more

If you can, go elsewhere! I wish I could put NO STARS. I usually get my car fixed in the suburbs, but had to go somewhere local in the city since it was not accelerating. I was limited on my choices since it would cost more to get it towed to the suburbs than to get it fixed in the city; I wished I towed it to the suburbs. Long story short they overcharged me roughly $1000 for $150 piece. I continued to have problems with my car so I took it in for them to look at and insisted I should not be charged. They had the nerve to say it would be another $100. I drove it back to my mechanic in the suburbs and they told me they fixed my car with the cheapest part and was completely over priced for the job they did. I recently bought a car again, and before I knew it I needed an oil change. This place is a minute walk from my house. I pulled in, they told me 1 hour and i walked home. An hour later Armando called me and I came back in. It was only $25 for the oil change and filter. He did not try to rip me off, or sell me anything like so many other places have in the past. I was looking for a shop to remove my mufflers on my '06 Mountaineer. I found these guys on Yelp, and gave them a call. They gave me a free estimate when I got there, and quoted me an extremely reasonable price. They finished in about 30 minutes and showed me exactly what they had done under my car. My car sounds great--even better than I imagined it would. They accept credit cards, but have to charge an extra 10 percent for them, so cash is more economical for both parties. I wish I could give 10 stars!!! Being a small young blonde girl, it's extremely easy for an auto repair shop to try to take advantage of me. Previously I always had my dad to double check things for me, now he's an hour away so it's all on me. I couldn't be happier with finding Armando @ Mufflers four Less. He is AMAZING!! My first time going here I didn't know exactly what was wrong, but knew it was a big deal. I went in and they asked if I could leave my car and they would check it out when they were finished with other cars. Armando called me that night (way before he told me he was going to be able to! Yay!) and told me to come into the shop (I live down the street) in the morning to discuss the damage with him. When I got there he had my car on a lift and walked me through exactly what was wrong, showed me each damaged part, and what a new one so I could see what it should look like. Who does that?! AMAZING!!!!! If you are looking for "your guy" in the city, Armando is it!! I have gone back and every time him and his staff are fantastic and super helpful. I woke up to find the converter on my Jeep had been cut off. Always the way you want to start your day. I called Armando and he said he was sorry this happened and that I could bring the Jeep over right away and he would take a look at it. I took it over and he put it on the lift right away and gave me an estimate. He told me to come back in an hour and it would be done. A great service! Armando was able to squeeze me in, even though I arrived very close to their closing time. The service was fast and the new parts were shiny and new, and Armando took the time to explain what he was doing and why it was needed. I have no experience with car repairs but I didn't sense that I was charged a single dime more than what was fair, and I didn't have to put up with any upselling or additional "suggested" repairs. Great honest mechanics. I went in because my had an exhaust leak during acceleration. These guys were able to figure out that it was a missed weld spot on another repair job (from another shop), quickly welded the O2 sensor fitting, and I was on my way, all for $30. I am so happy to read the other reviews about this place. They all describe my experiences there as well. I am a female who usually goes to get my car fixed alone and am often worried about being taken advantage of by mechanics. My muffler was making noises and took it in took a shop that told me that it would cost me about $600 to fix. My regular mechanic recommended this mufflers 4 less instead and Armando fixed everything (including the catalytice converter) for $200 in one hour. Not only this, but before fixing it, he showed me exactly what was wrong and then showed me exactly what he fixed afterwards. The work was excellent and waranteed. Two years later, my muffler was acting up again and i brought it back to Armando. The problem had nothing to do with his work but he still corrected it for free. then he went out of his way to help me fix the problem i had (including lending me his vehicle to go get a part). Because the problem could not be fixed, he did not charge me for all fo the time he spent helping me. I insisted on paying him something for his time and he refused. Amazing! My experience went far beyond what i could have expected and these guys deserve more than 6 stars. Enough said. Go to Armando! read more

Just came from this place after having my muffler and flex pipe repaired. I could not be more pleased with an auto mechanic. Armando explained what I needed and how he would do the repairs. Then, the best part was that they could do it within the hour. I did get there early in the day, so that might have influenced the timing. Everyone here was friendly, efficient and helpful. They even told me where the local Starbucks was. I received a 2 year warranty so I will definitely come back for other car services that I will be needing, like brakes, etc. This place is always busy and has been in the neighborhood for several years that I know of. Armando explained that it didn't, fixed the actual problem of a broken hanger holding the exhaust pipe, and then he fixed a deteriorating flange, all for a very reasonable price, and quickly too! Started my day off finding out a thief had cut off my converter from my Honda ( a $1000 part I found out). After calling the dealership and getting a quote of $1600+ or the work, I started to call around the neighborhood and ran across Mufflers For Less. Very friendly on the phone, great service when i got there and gave me an estimate on the spot for free. Price was WAY less than the dealer quoted and the service was great.
