In and out in 20 mins! They diagnosed the issue in seconds after hearing and seeing the under of my car. Very glad I drove an hour to these guys instead of settling for a place with 2 stars. Really good pricing as well! read more

Extremely honest shop. Sent me on my way without charging because it turned out it was just a battery. They still jumped my car for me and inspected under the hood and sent me on the way. I'll go there for any and all future car needs for me and my family for as long as I'm in Chicago. read more

Update from 10/27/2024 review: I found my receipts for the itemized and non-itemized receipts after I moved to a new apartment (I attached them to the photos). I knew this place was overcharging me because they did not list the parts and labor charges separately. You can see how Value Plus Mufflers charged me a total of $1,100 and then I requested an itemized receipt they tried to back in the amounts to equal $1,100. read more

I was skeptical. But these guys are studs! My catalytic converter cracked on my Corvette. The metal was very thin but the managed to tig weld it and it's like brand new!! read more

Very efficient, you can see them do their work up close and they'll help you assess the problem quickly as well. It's pretty affordable ($230), one of the best prices i'd say for a muffler replacement and I got help immediately, thank you so much for the great job Beto! read more

Service requested was a Flowmaster muffler & tailpipe welded install. Looked for place on a Sunday not expecting to find one open. THEY ARE OPEN! Price value was right. Technician made my exhaust look great. Nice & tight with great welds. Solid service! Props to the guy working Sunday. Give him a raise. read more

Very reasonable, and honest. They replace only what needs replacing, and the service is finished on time.

The exhaust system of my 11 year old car sprang a leak, got noisy. I drove in to Value Plus Mufflers without an appointment at 4:01 PM on a Monday, they put the car up on the lift and found 2 leaks right away. They gave me two options for repair, I picked the "direct fit" option, they had the requisite pipe on hand. I sat down and watched as they worked, and I drove out of there at 4:50 PM with a very quiet car and a 1 year guarantee on the work. Quality work, fair prices, great value received for money spent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! read more

Super attentive, communicative, friendly service. I got an exhaust pipe replaced within an hour with no appointment and it was way cheaper than I expected. Really glad to have found a trustworthy car shop around here. read more

The gentleman, I believe his name was Red, was very pleasant. He explained and showed me the problem and offer a very cost effective fix. I was very pleased with the service I received! read more

Angelo (He had on Hillario's shirt) was funny AF! My muffler needed replacing. He saw it within seconds. He gave me the price which I thought was acceptable. I didn't shop around, I based my trip here on these Yelp reviews solely. While the mechanic was good natured, he was serious about the task(I sat within feet of him while he worked). He was an apparent pro at mufflers, doing maybe tens or hundreds of these in a day. That's )what I like--experience and efficiency. My car sounds great now. Strongly recommended read more

Someone stole my catalytic converter last night on my car. I did a search for a muffler business that is near the house and came across this business. They put the car on the lift. He told me what they were going to do and how much it will cost. I was serviced in under 1hr and they also reinforced the joints of the part so that it would not be stolen again. They were courteous as well as efficient. I recommend this business! read more

The gentlemen who replaced my muffler and resonator on a Sunday (without an appointment) was a thorough and efficient craftsman. It was a pleasure to watch him work, analyzing the situation, making choices and adjustments on the fly, cleaning up everything as he went. A great experience. A fair price. A one-year warranty. Clearly takes pride in his work. Highly recommended. read more

I can't say enough great things about this place. My catalytic converter was stolen out of my prius two nights ago and for someone who commutes to the suburbs this was a disaster. After calling several places around the lake view area i was getting quoted upwards of 1300 to replace it. I called value plus mufflers and they quoted me less then half of that. They also got my car done in less then 2 hours and fixed another part just because they saw it was leaking. As a young female who knows nothing about cars i appreciate them so much for not taking advantage of my lack of knowledge and giving me a fair price. They also show you everything they did and why they did it when you pick it up! I will be a life long customer and I will be recommending them to all of my friends and family. read more

Nissan dealership wanted $3,256, they did it for $80. Bottom of my car is rusting out and they replaced the exhaust. go to them.

Just got back from having my exhaust system fixed at Value Plus. They knew exactly what was up within the first minute or two and then swapped out the necessary parts and had everything fixed within about 30 minutes this morning. Very friendly guys there. Thank you very much! read more

This was the absolute best experience I've ever had in taking my car in. No no-frills set-up and the fact that one guy could do it all made for the most transparent experience and one that I would recommend to anyone and everyone. My car was really loud all of a sudden and I was so stressed thinking I was going to have to shell out $1K to fix whatever I was told was wrong with my car (which previously happened when I took my car to the dealer for something else). I wanted to make sure I could find a place that was *less* likely to rip me off. I was actually looked at the reviews for another muffler shop when I saw that someone said after getting a really high quote they ended up going to Value Plus and getting the same work done for half the price. I was sold. The place is really just a garage. I parked on the street and walked in and there was one guy working and he was currently welding something on a car. When he was done with that, he saw me and let me know it would be about 30 minutes and to just wait in my car. After 30ish minutes he waived me into the garage and looked at my car. He immediately found one part that needed to be replaced and something else that was broken that he could fix, and let me know it would be $60 to fix both!!! Could not have been more relieved. He finished working on my car in about 15 minutes and I was on my way. read more

Best muffler shop in town! My car needed some exhaust work. Called them on the phone, they didn't speak English too well. Thought I would try them anyways. Got there. Small place only one lane and only 2 lifts. But there was no one in line. They put the car up on the lift, diagnosed the problem. Bad gasket. Said they could fix for $80 and start work on it right away and would take about 30 minutes. Went across the street to have lunch. Before I could finish lunch, the phone rang; car was ready. Amazing. When I was checking out, Hilairio asked how I happened to come in. Said I found him on Yelp. He said Yelp? I said yes, you have nothing but 5 star reviews. He still seemed puzzled. I said, hey, you should look yourself up. Poor fella said he didn't know how. I should have written Yelp on a piece of paper and told him to have his kids look it up and show it to him. I regret I didn't think of it until after I had left. Great place. They just won a customer for life :) read more

Such a great resource in the neighborhood. No nonsense, straightforward, and extremely reasonable vs the Midas, Car X, and other chains. If you need breaks, shocks, struts, exhaust, and/or muffler work, this is your shop. Save some money and support an independent small business in the process. read more

5 stars is being modest. This is a REAL garage. Dropped off at 9am, got a call and estimate at 930-car was done by 11. Not only did they save me hundreds by cutting and welding the problem(any other garage would charge you for the entire part that is unneeded) they found my bad sensor that fixed a problem my car has had for 3 years and couldnt be fixed by larger fancier price gouging garages. Will never go anywhere else. read more

Amazing place, great service, and good price. In the future, for muffler work, I won't go anywhere except Value Plus Mufflers.

Awesome service! Called them up they said bring my car in. They immediately showed me the issue with my muffler, fixed it, and done. I don't go anywhere else but here for my muffler. Thank you for the speedy and professional service. read more

I have an older Honda. Recently the exhaust pipe broke right in front of the catalytic converter. It was super loud and embarrassing, not drive-able. My exhaust system was relatively new (replaced by another shop after the catalytic converter was stolen). Therefore, I was hoping that I could find a shop that could do a repair job instead of a full replacement. I called Value Plus and talked to Hilario. I dropped off my car and picked it up about an hour and a half later. I was super impressed on how fast he turned this around. I'll be back again I'm sure. Thanks! read more

I can't recommend this shop enough! I've taken both of my Lexus' here over the years, and Hilario and his team do excellent, quality work, often while you wait. It's a no-frills shop, but these guys are absolute professionals. Lexus dealership wanted over $2200 to replace some exhaust tubing, this shop took less than 90 minutes to cut out the leaky portion and welded in a replacement for me for $120, and it sounds and works amazing. I'll never go to another muffler shop in the city ever again. read more

This place is the best for exhaust system repairs because they really know what they're doing and the repair costs are very low. They are way less expensive than the other muffler repair shops and certainly the dealers. The guys who run the shop and work there are friendly and polite, and the wait is usually very brief. Why go anywhere else? This place is a gem if you're looking to save money and get work done right. read more

Had the catalytic converter stolen off my wife's SUV while on vacation in Chicago. Happened on a Friday and was driving back with my kids on Monday (Labor Day). Can't recommend these guys enough. Thanks! read more

Everything you're read on here is true; fast, friendly, honest service. Like many others, someone stole the catalytic converter off my Hyundai Sonata. In less than a day I had a replacement at a reasonable price. Hilario is a great guy, take your car here, you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is the fastest most reliable exhaust change/repair with reasonable, dare I say cheapest, prices. And the best thing is that these guys are so friendly and approachable. They also do oil changes. The store front is small, so don't pass by too quickly. My converter and Co2 sensor was cut off last night in the middle of a snow storm.. couldn't be more pissed! But these guys are the repair shop brightened my day but not only fixing it in under an hour, but they made me laugh and were extremely friendly. Value Plus Mufflers have helped me in a pinch twice! Once the racks to hold my muffler up rusted out and second the muffler fell off due to the extension pipe connection rusting through. Drove right in and was out within an hour! My car was purring a little louder than normal, ok a lot louder. Have a 2005 Infiniti G35 so the exhaust pipes in the Chicago Winters were starting to go.
