This was the absolute best experience I've ever had in taking my car in. No no-frills set-up and the fact that one guy could do it all made for the most transparent experience and one that I would recommend to anyone and everyone. My car was really loud all of a sudden and I was so stressed thinking I was going to have to shell out $1K to fix whatever I was told was wrong with my car (which previously happened when I took my car to the dealer for something else). I wanted to make sure I could find a place that was *less* likely to rip me off. I was actually looked at the reviews for another muffler shop when I saw that someone said after getting a really high quote they ended up going to Value Plus and getting the same work done for half the price. I was sold. The place is really just a garage. I parked on the street and walked in and there was one guy working and he was currently welding something on a car. When he was done with that, he saw me and let me know it would be about 30 minutes and to just wait in my car. After 30ish minutes he waived me into the garage and looked at my car. He immediately found one part that needed to be replaced and something else that was broken that he could fix, and let me know it would be $60 to fix both!!! Could not have been more relieved. Update from 10/27/2024 review: I found my receipts for the itemized and non-itemized receipts after I moved to a new apartment (I attached them to the photos). I knew this place was overcharging me because they did not list the parts and labor charges separately. I can't say enough great things about this place. My catalytic converter was stolen out of my prius two nights ago and for someone who commutes to the suburbs this was a disaster. After calling several places around the lake view area i was getting quoted upwards of 1300 to replace it. I called value plus mufflers and they quoted me less then half of that. They also got my car done in less then 2 hours and fixed another part just because they saw it was leaking. As a young female who knows nothing about cars i appreciate them so much for not taking advantage of my lack of knowledge and giving me a fair price. Best muffler shop in town! My car needed some exhaust work. Called them on the phone, they didn't speak English too well. Thought I would try them anyways. Got there. Small place only one lane and only 2 lifts. But there was no one in line. They put the car up on the lift, diagnosed the problem. Bad gasket. Said they could fix for $80 and start work on it right away and would take about 30 minutes. Went across the street to have lunch. Before I could finish lunch, the phone rang; car was ready. Amazing. When I was checking out, Hilairio asked how I happened to come in. Said I found him on Yelp. He said Yelp? I said yes, you have nothing but 5 star reviews. He still seemed puzzled. I said, hey, you should look yourself up. Poor fella said he didn't know how. I should have written Yelp on a piece of paper and told him to have his kids look it up and show it to him. 5 stars is being modest. This is a REAL garage. Dropped off at 9am, got a call and estimate at 930-car was done by 11. Not only did they save me hundreds by cutting and welding the problem(any other garage would charge you for the entire part that is unneeded) they found my bad sensor that fixed a problem my car has had for 3 years and couldnt be fixed by larger fancier price gouging garages. I have an older Honda. Recently the exhaust pipe broke right in front of the catalytic converter. It was super loud and embarrassing, not drive-able. My exhaust system was relatively new (replaced by another shop after the catalytic converter was stolen). I can't recommend this shop enough! I've taken both of my Lexus' here over the years, and Hilario and his team do excellent, quality work, often while you wait. It's a no-frills shop, but these guys are absolute professionals. Lexus dealership wanted over $2200 to replace some exhaust tubing, this shop took less than 90 minutes to cut out the leaky portion and welded in a replacement for me for $120, and it sounds and works amazing.
