Long story short, I originally had my vehicle serviced (routine) by Toyota. When I received my Highlander back, the exhaust was significantly louder. Ended up being a broken flange bolt. Toyota wouldn't repair or accept responsibility. However, they referred me here. Called ahead of time and spoke to Luis. He said I could bring the Highlander in now. Brought it in and they were able to replace the bolt. Issue resolved in less than 30 minutes. Now I won't die from carbon monoxide poisoning. The price was a very small fraction of replacing pipes. Don't judge the shops appearance by the quality and service. read more

My Catalytic Converter was stolen. These guys had it replaced in about an hour. I needed to order an oxygen sensor because the autozone up the street didn't have it. He told me to come back after I get it and he'd put it in for free, which he did! Then he told me the Check Engine light may come on after 30-40 miles and if so, he'll fix it. The nice (very) man there took very good care of me. He pulled my car in showed me what was wrong and how much it would cost ten minutes later I was ready to go. My truck was quiet again. this place is ok bc it is cheap and quick. HOWEVER, the mufflers i got here lasted about 1 year, and I got several. they'd charge me 20 buck or something to install the free replacements so it wasnt terrible but the mufflers they were using must have been pretty low end bc they lasted only a year or sometimes two. then it's back to mufflers 4 less for a new one. also the pipes i got there lasted about 3 mufflers....so approx 4 yrs. ymmv read more

I'm so fortunate that this place is a few blocks from my house. I had the pleasure once again of having my poor car get jacked up by treacherous city streets. This time it was an unpaved section of Ashland and carefully placed manhole cover that ripped off my muffler and half my bumper. I went to this place based on good reviews and with the hope that they'd be able to jerry-rig the bumper until I got to my mechanic. With all the speed bumps in my hood there's no way I'd make it to Evanston like that. Turns out I needed to replace the whole muffler system pipes (they were about five years old) and it was only $140 for everything! They not only completed this task in less than half an hour but sure enough one guy was able to bolt the the bumper on both sides for free. It doesn't look perfect but it did the job and my worries are over :) read more

I have been driving past this place for 10 years now wondering what the deal is. My Jetta with 150k on it needed some work - brakes, exhaust system, tie rod - which my regular mechanic with a full garage was going to do but would have set me back some big bucks. After reading the reviews of these guys as well as others, I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. In and out in a couple of hours and still enough left in my wallet to go over to Gastro Wagon for lunch. They will tell you what needs doing now and what can wait. For the brakes they looked at the front and rear rotors and only did the fronts - saved some bucks there. The VW dealer wanted BIG bucks for the exhaust system fix. These guys replaced less of the system (only what was broken) and charged me $100. Even though the sign says 'mufflers' I asked them about the tie rod which I knew was bad - no problem to fix it. On the way out the door, the owner was sure to tell me to come back at any time if I was not happy with how things turned out and they would take care of it. That is why they have been there for over 10 years - great service, competent mechanics, great prices. read more

After coming here for more than 10 years, and after highly recommending them to so many people I've had enough of this place, the owner is a rude hung over drunk that sleeps on his desk and lies about a price that he give me an estimate for the day before. Long story short he told me $90 the day before, he had started off at $120 , I told him I had no money I'm in a hurry I'll be back. he went all the way down to $90 when I didn't have money with me. I came back the next day in the morning sat in the waiting room and when I receive the bill it said $120 again he shook his head in Spanish and Cursed at me, no one wonder all the employees talk smack and left you. read more

1994 Volvo 850 wagon The car has always been exhaust throaty type loud - since I bought it three years ago very used. Now for about 10 days it got way louder - and now in last few days there was some smoke under the car at stop lights and when I parked. Visited a few places - learned it was a breathing hose (metal honey comb type part) - about one foot long. Seems back in 94 it was probably part of the Catalytic -- as a picture in a catalogue showed that a 94 Volvo Catalytic most like the OEM would actually be about 5 feet long and have IMO about 5 parts all in one (Saw the full monster in a catalogue at mufflers 4 less) They did their "cut and paste replace thing" with a new universal type part - took them a while - nearly an hour - and for them that is long - and for 150 I was on my way - No smoke and less noise then ever. As context -- two other quotes - 400 and 550 dollars - at two other places (I had 200 cash in my pocket ready to say yes when that would cover it - cash usually gets one a better price) Receipt and warranty included (90 days) While there -- saw their speed and realized why they could make money and offer a solid price read more

I'm a woman and I have been duped a lot at auto places.. These guys are honest! They are fast and cheap . I had them replace my muffler and went back to them the next day because of an exhaust-like small in my car and they found a completely different issue . I went in telling them I thought the muffler was bad because of the smell in the car- they could have easily sold me an unneccesary muffler pipe.. instead they found the problem and fixed it for free...They went above and beyond with me - including running down the street to a parts shop to find and replace a missing oil cap ( which was causing the bad smell- I forgot to put it back on after an oil fill and then lost the cap) and then they cleaned my engine of the oil spatters- all at no charge! Went in on other Yelp reviews and I'm DELIGHTED! Quick service - out within 40 minutes of driving up. Explained and showed me what NEEDED to be done, what SHOULD be done, and what COULD be done. Each option was also priced out ahead of time. As my car has over 100K miles (Infiniti) on it, I was more than happy to not have to replace the whole schpeal and the cutting and soddering of necessary pieces seems to have done the job.
