I went to Needle in a haystack for the first time over Memorial weekend. It was truly a memorable…read moreexperience. We had a free sew. Only 7 sewers were in attendance. The staff had all my needs anticipated and if I needed anything else, they were right there. The accomadations were 5*. Each bed had a hand made quilt! What a treat! They supplied breakfast and lunch and we all went out to dinner with a 10% coupon provided by NIAH. Jeff unloaded our personal luggage and then took the car and unloaded our sewing gear on the upper level of the building. The building in itself was amazing, It was converted from an old barn and polished and shined beautifully. The staff was wonderful as well as Judy and Jeff the owners. There is also a fabric store with yummy fabrics most of which were $5-$9 with some for $12 and patterns galore! I can't wait til my next visit! Helen Dunlap

I love this place! So much so that I had to create it's YELP page! It's a completely remodeled…read moredairy barn where you go to sew for a long weekend! You check in late Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday late morning (they even feed you)... they have "free sews" where you work on your own project as well as weekends where they have someone teaching a particular project. As if that isn't enough... they also have a Fabric Barn Outlet at the same location... where you can get all the fabric they carry for $5, $6 and $7 a yard! Judy, Megan and Jeff are wonderful. Take a sewing buddy or go yourself and you'll find lots of new friends! You have to check out all the pictures and info they have on their website (really reasonably priced to stay too)... http://www.needleinahaystackretreat.com/index.htm

Want to get dirty?…read more This is the place to come play with mud. Sanctioned for adults no less. Seriously, located in the old Pierce Arrow Building (which houses many many things, BTW), on Great Arrow and Elmwood (across from Carriage Trade Pastries), is a ceramics studio. You can take classes here, which are small and offer personalized service. You will learn a lot in the six week beginner class. You will learn how to "throw clay", make a bowl or perhaps a mug, glaze it and actually use it! How cool is that? Already know how to throw a bowl? You can also join here and come as often as you like. Its a monthly membership I think, and you pay for firing of course. Clay is priced reasonably, the space is nice, all the tools are there. All thats missing is you.

Buffalo clay art center is amazing To the chick named Cherie…read morethat gave a one star review, get the hell out of here with that noise. You didn't even visit the center or have any experience with the staff or the facilities yet you're leaving a one star review because you couldn't manage to have the problem-solving skills to contact the owners. I know for a fact that the guys at Buffalo Clay art are not hard to reach. in fact one time I contacted them a few days before Christmas because I wanted some suggestions on which kind of pottery wheel to buy and they got back to me right away. I was shocked at such a quick response time on the most hectic day of the Christmas season . They had nothing to gain no funds to earn from answering my question. Again they are not hard to reach but some part of me is glad that Cherie wasn't able to reach them because she sounds like an ass. I guess that's how you become yelp elite by posting comments for businesses you don't have any real experience with. In terms of my experience with the actual business, because I've taken at least two classes there and several members of my friends and family have taken classes there I can say that buffalo clay art center is a wonderful place to learn about pottery the people that teach the classes are experts they truly love what they do and they are amazing at it I cannot suggest a better place to learn from!! Chill vibe place.
