We also got some shrimp which were flavorful but overcooked. Don't bother with the potatoes. They have no seasoning and taste like the cleaner that was used to clean the pot. Overall a good stop for crawfish alone. I'd wait for later in the season for a better size though.

They have the flavor profile that I like down to a science- cistrusy, spicy, well seasoned. However, due to a rare freeze in Louisiana, the crawfish in the area suffered. The batch that I just endured was clearly pre-frozen, and over cooked to compensate for the precooked temperature. This caused the meat to be of an undesirable texture and easily broken. I don't blame soul's for freezing the crawfish they invested their capital into before the weather change- I blame myself for not having the patience to wait until conditions improved enough so that I would be more likely to enjoy the $9.99/lb crawfish I so longed for. I know better now. I also bought a fish plate with 2 fried fillets of some strange type of fish. I won't be ordering that again, though the fries were perfect.

I spent $30 on two crabs and four potatoes, only to receive crabs covered in black spots that looked like mold. It was nasty, and clearly not fresh. When I questioned it, the cashier told me "we just boiled them." There's no way freshly boiled crabs look like that. This isn't just poor quality -- it's a serious health concern. It made me wonder: does anyone even inspect the food before it goes out? What's worse is that this is being served in communities where people are trusting these businesses to provide good, safe meals -- for kids and adults. If you're going to charge top dollar, at least make sure the food is clean and edible. This experience was a complete letdown. Soul Seafood really needs to step it up -- because this ain't it.
