This place consistently delivers nice sized, quality crawfish that's boiled and seasoned to PERFECTION (perfect balance of salt, pepper, garlic, and citrus) all season long. Also, the ordering process is super fast and efficient...there's one line to order, you pay and get your order number on a receipt, then wait (no more than 5-7 minutes) for your order. They also have really decent cooked food (a hot bar, fried seafood, sandwiches, etc). The only downside of Dat Seafood is that they're closed on Sundays...Sundays are for crawfish!! Stopped in here to get some stuff to bring home from New Orleans. The food was decent. The fried rice was very good. The pig feet were good and so were the turkey necks. Gumbo was mediocre. Crawfish weren't even on the same level with some that I've had. The prices were sky high. My sister bought 3 packs of boudin, fried rice, and 4 wings and it was $70. I got 2 pig feet, 1 turkey neck, 1 sausage and small fried rice and it was $37. Way too high for the food you get and there's other places within a mile or 2 where it's half the price. read more

This is a hole in the wall to go only crawfish place. The meat is cooked until the meat of the crawfish is flavorful inside. Hence not a lot of sauce in the bag. It tasted great. Would be nice if they had dine in option but it's oki. The staff were friendly and helpful in our selection. Would come back again when we're in the area. read more

Living in Texas you don't get the pleasure of having good seafood places on every corner. Luckily, on my trip my Airbnb was only about 5 minutes away from DAT Cajun seafood. I woke up on a hunt for some seafood & boom just under $20 I got exactly what I needed. I ordered 1lb of crawfish, which were quite large & flavorful, a turkey neck & two meat pies. Listen, if I could eat those meat pies every day I would. I wish I ordered more of the hot foods but maybe next time. I'm not sure what people expect coming to places like this but just order your food, CHECK YOUR FOOD (it's clearly posted to do so -- reading is fundamental) & fill your stomach up. Been doing my research on this place for a minute and finally got the chance to try it. I had been craving a shrimp Poboy all day and this is where I ended up. The place looks great I must say, all the food is hot and looks delicious with a wide variety. Now the poboy itself was good don't get me wrong, I just wish the shrimp were fried in a different batter or maybe some fresh oil. I would definitely go back I just think it might have been a mishap. Unusual combination yes I know. But I will say it did not disappoint. Went here for a few pounds of crawfish, but ended up getting just 2 pounds after I found out the wings were $7.99 for 15!! Had their crawfish for the first time today. I'm amazed. The boil stays true to the roots in terms of important flavors, but they add an Asian twist to the mix that is just wonderful. There is a noticeable but not too strong citrusy flavor, and when it comes fresh and hot from the boil, you can smell the Asian elements more strongly. My father claimed it was the best crawfish he's ever had. I've lived in New Orleans all my life and my dad has most of his. So... You've got two locals giving the thumbs up. Very friendly and comparable pricing to the area seafood establishments. I have had the Oyster Po Boy twice and the it's very good. The oysters are fresh and the bread is very good balance of "crunchy and soft." I went to Cajun Seafood and their crawfish is running $4.99 lb right now but it's going for $4.49 lb here. Seems like the better deal, but I am still looking for even better than this. I cannot say how good the crawfish is here but it sure does smell good. read more

My go to spot for seafood in the wank! Everything is solid. I normally go for crawfish and a shrimp poboy :) Service is fast.

The shrimp at DAT had a good flavor, but was incredibly difficult to peel. We ended up throwing most of it away as a result. The crawfish was good, but had a lot of pretty small ones mixed in with a few good size. I'll get the crawfish again if I ever go back, which is doubtful. I'm constantly disappointed with "seafood markets" in and around New Orleans. Coming from Pensacola and having seafood markets like Joe Patti's makes these markets look just plain sad. I would like to go into a market around here and have seafood out for me to choose from. Alas, I'll just have to deal with what I'm given until it's time for the military to move us again. read more

Stopped in here on the way home from grocery shopping. Thought I'd get a couple pounds to go with a wonderful German style Bock out of Texas that I'd gotten. Walked in and it looks just about like every other good little seafood place; Vietnamese run (so I'm expecting spicy), and clean. Smelled more like the side items then crawfish. There was a woman in line ahead of me who, when I asked, said the crawfish were so spicy your mouth will burn for an hour after. Cool! That's my kind of crawfish! (I have to use some excuse to drink a beer each pound, spicy works). I told her I'd been getting my crawfish at Rouse's She told me crawfish from Rouse's would put me on the toilet so long it would change the shape of my booty. Okaaaay.. Anyway. I ordered and paid and expected to get my crawfish. Nope. Seems they were out and just started a new batch. Now I had food in the car and it would have been proper customer service to tell me there would be a wait. Nope. Instead they took the orders for 10 more people, each one, like me, waiting for crawfish and not being told they didn't have any done. Not cool. 15 minutes later, the crawfish came out and I headed home. To say the flavor was underwhelming is to be polite. I ended up making up a custom batch of crawfish seasoning, adding in some water and microwaving them again to give them flavor (Byw, this is a great way to reheat crawfish from the day before, it makes them juicy as heck too). In conclusion (Yeah, I babble) The prices were 1/3rd higher than Rouse's on crawfish and on average, .50c higher than other little seafood places like them. The crawfish were wussy but still ok The customer service was lacking (you have to tell people there will be a long wait) So I'm giving them 3 stars until I go back and try a second time to see if this was just a fluke I would recommend this place to people who are not into spicy crawfish but think they are and to people who do NOT have groceries in their vehicles on 90 degree days. read more

Wow! We stopped in here based on the Yelp reviews and were happy we did. We ordered a pound of shrimp and a pound of crawfish for dinner tonight and a large gumbo for lunch. We ate in our camper as this is a market not a restaurant, although I think most of their sales are prepared food. The gumbo was fantastic. Ham, chicken, shrimp and other tasty tidbits with just the right amount of heat. We went back in after lunch to buy another gumbo for lunch tomorrow! While we were buying our shrimp and crawfish, a local told us we needed to buy what the locals eat including the turkey necks, corn, and potatoes. The lady let us try the necks before we bought them. Again, wow! Cooked tender and with a little Cajun spice, these are a delight for the tastebuds. We may have to move here! This is a local find! The food is incredible! Gumbo was hearty with lots of flavors and meats in it. We also ate the po boy shrimp sandwich. The batter of the fried shrimp has lots of flavor but is still light and crisp. The sand which is dressed perfectly. Food is made fresh to order and service was very friendly! I have only bought crawfish here so my review is about that - first off the live crawfish are good price and I was impressed with how clean they were. I've also got boiled crawfish a couple times and the spice is perfect! I can't figure out what seasoning they are using but you can tell they are using fresh seasoning as well crab boil which is always preferred. The sides, potatoes, corn and sausage are perfect spice and texture. The gave 4 stars instead of 5 just because the size is mixed - some large, some small - I prefer when places offer all large even if they upcharge a little for it :) I recommend getting to-go, its not a sit down place, although their are places to sit, but truly its a market not a restaurant. read more

I've been coming here for years and loved their crawfish, but at the beginning of this 2018-2019 crawfish season I went to get my fix and I bought 3 pounds and found that the crawfish was not right, either the crawfish was dead when cooked or something was wrong in the kitchen. The crawfish when peeled did not look fresh. The heads and insides were black. The crawfish was very rubbery as well. I waited a few weeks and went back to find the same issue. I live in Atlanta and visit family on the Westbank often. I have eaten at this place every weekend for the past 3 weekends. The staff is friendly, and the gumbo is fantastic. The crawfish is seasoned perfectly, and the shrimp are in a delicious spicy butter sauce. I didn't think the stuffed crab was all that, but my friends all loved it. I've been coming here for over a year now, and it's still my go-to, favorite spot for boiled crawfish. Crawfish is cleaned well. Super flavorful & spicy enough, and consistent! The shrimp can be over cooked sometimes, I often wonder if it's because it's still "cooking" while tied up in a bag, so by the time I make it home... yea, so I've decided the next time, I'm going to leave the bag open, lol!
