Little did we know the amount of money we would spend in the shop (lol). There were a bunch of plants but also a bunch more such as some Italian food/cookware, candles, mugs, crafts, clothes, trinkets, jewelry, tea, tea pots, soaps, etc! If you need a gift for someone, this is the place to go! Don't forget to check out the back room! It's easy to miss.

The brushes are nice and come in all sizes. The prices are amazing! Soo worth it. She got a little apron too; to protect her clothes. So cute! She dried the canvases for use before we left and gave us a bag to put them in. We will definitely be back for another painting! :) Highly recommend Artsy Doodle!!! They do paint and sips too which is amazing! Great for parties.

Went to Local Bar and Kitchen, South Side, Pittsburgh…read more I don't think someone could have a bad time at Paint Nite - Apparently, this is new to Pittsburgh which is surprising because everything went really smoothly. Not a single complaint. Instead of boasting about how much fun it was, I'm just going to answer a few questions that I had going into it/some insight. -BYOB / SNACKS are by venue only. I went to Local which is a bar/restaurant and so we paid ourselves. -Side Note, Local's food is really good, a lot of beer variety, and it was Wednesday Wine Night (buy a bottle, get a bottle)- -There is not a lot of room to eat because the easels are set up close to each other so I would recommend eating before/after -We got drinks before we started and they had a server going around during so that you didn't have to make people move for you (we also took a break during to get more drinks/walk around to see others work and meet new people) -GROUPON had an amazing deals. It was basically half off. -Just bring yourself (paint/brushes/water/paper towel/smock/easel are set up before you arrive) -I recommend getting there 10 min. early to get settled. There was no designated seats for this one and due to the Polar Vortex, no one obviously wanted to sit away from the heater or near the windows. (especially if you're in a bigger group) -You are painting without an outline - completely free hand. The instructor is there to give inspiration/answer questions/paint with you/have fun. -You can paint whatever you want - the "theme" is just kind of a guide/something to make it more of an event. -Went from 7-9. There was no rush to leave. We left our paintings and had a drink after at the bar to let our paint dry. -It's just fun. No pressure/judgment. -Some people were solo/some in groups/some just pairs. All accepted. We went on 1/29 at Local. S/O the "That Paint Lady" ... she was great. Super funny, encouraged drinking and really owned the room.

I've been hearing about Paint Nite for about a year now, so I was excited to finally attend. This…read moreis a fun activity to do with friends and family. Here's what I liked: 1. Everything was well organized, down to the apron, the paints, and all is setup for you in advance. 2. The host has a PA system, so everyone can hear well. 3. The host was very positive, encouraging everyone to be creative and have fun. 4. The painting was broken down into methodical steps so everyone succeeded. 5. It's a great way to meet new people and to socialize with your friends. 6. It's FUN! There are different instructors and venues. I went to Getaway Cafe and the staff there was very welcoming and the food was good. Our instructor had a degree in Art, and she took the time to explain how to complete the painting in easy steps. Nobody at Paint Nite paid full price, they all got their tickets through Groupon. Not sure how long Groupon will sell the half price tickets, but if you use the code PITTSBURGH you can bypass the Groupon website.

Had a ceramics class with Liana. I had a great time and made cute pieces…read more Update: when I was finally able to pick up my items after two months, none of them were done right. I'm not going to take the time to enumerate everything that is wrong, but I was told that the pictured piece fell off in the kiln. If that were true, there wouldn't be glaze on the surfaces that need to be re-joined. This cannot even be fixed. So in addition to doing careless work with the glaze, they were untruthful about what happened. This was a frankly a terrible experience.

Said we wanted to pickup our pieces whether they were finished or not and would finish the pieces elsewhere. The day we were coming, they called to say it was ready. One piece was glazed only halfway and in the wrong color. The other was over glazed enough so the relief is gone and they dripped another glaze on it and you can see the finger mark where they attempted to wipe it off. When we called about a refund, we were quite frustrated and were told that we needed a discussion with the instructor to figure out if they had done anything wrong. Could not be more disappointed. Will never return. Would recommend trying somewhere else if someone is considering going here.

From bridal showers to baby showers to my sorority senior tea or going with my mother in law I have had my share of experiences and I e never left disappointed. They provide you with a 3 tiered plate of options from savory to sweet. Also the option of coffee OR tea. The waiter does a great job describing each dish/item on the menu so you know what to expect. My recommendation is to change up the menu more often. Like I said earlier, I've been there multiple times and it's been the same thing every time. Their good dishes, but wouldn't be a bad thing to switch it up.

Unlike other painting places, this place has pre-sketched canvases that can guide you to paint a pretty picture. That is was stands out most to me, and what I love about this place. I believe they have classes as well, but you have to schedule an appointment for them. Many of their sketches vary from emojis, nature, characters like Harry Potter, unicorns, animals, all the great stuff! I believe the prices vary from $15-25, at least from what we painted. The workers there are very friendly and helpful! I'm not sure what the guy's name was, but he really helped turn my painting around! He taught me to play with the colors and adding contrast, and it really made a difference. Whenever you run out of paint, they are more than happy to get you more. They also give you another painting that you can try to replicate or add your own twist to it. They just started a stamp program, with every 4 purchases of a painting, you get the 5th one free!
