My friend and I wanted to change things up... the dinner after work and straight to the hotel 3 nights a week was getting really monotonous. I love these kinds of activities where you can turn off your brain and decompress. I found place through LivingSocial for about $22 each. We painted balloons that got away. There were only 4 of us that night which was kinda nice because Sandy was able to give us more of her attention. This is a BYOB place so bring your adult beverage... it's just a lot more fun that way. I like that Sandy had hairdryers so we didn't have to wait 15-20 minutes for the paint to dry before painting the extra layers. I would definitely come back but maybe to paint one of the ceramic pieces.

My friends and I purchased the "Date Night" Groupon for this place and it was a deal! I paid $14 which was a value of $29. This covered $9 for studio time and $20 towards pottery. I wasn't 100% sure if we would have actually been "making" the pottery or just picking it out and painting it. (They offer both) This was my first time participating in this so I wasn't too sure. I probably could have asked when I called to make a reservation (a must for date night) but I guess I was just being lazy. Turns out for this particular night you picked out the pottery and painted it. You have to reserve another time to actually make the pottery, etc. I made reservations for a Thursday night 6pm, BYOB! We showed up and were shown our table for the night, given wine glasses and Sandy (The owner) even opened our wine for us! She explained how everything worked and showed us what we could pick from. Very nice and patient woman. You can tell by talking to her she takes pride in her work and genuinely ENJOYS it. It was really exciting getting to pick out the pottery...there were all kinds to choose from. You'll have to go for yourself to check out the options. I ended up picking a Wine Chiller and a small Fruit Bowl (decorative purposes). You can see them in the picture I'm going to post when I complete this review. We each picked our paint colors and shared from each others choices. From there on out it was smooth PAINTING. (And sipping some vino). The next couple hours were so fun. Sandy played music (Christmas, at the time) and we had some light chatter. At the end we gave her our finished pieces which she would later "fire" and call us to come pick up. Took about a week for things to be completed and mine turned out looking better than expected. I had a wonderful time and cannot wait to take some more friends on my next trip there. Groupon or NO Groupon. It's definitely worth it!!

We scheduled a date night to have a beginner wheel pottery lesson. Sandy was amazing. She was very gracious and patient with us as we fumbled our way through making several pieces. She closes off the whole studio for date nights so that it's just you and let's you bring your adult beverage of choice. We got to make 5 pieces! In 2 weeks she called us to come in and paint our pieces and we had just as much fun! She let her adorable rescue kitty out to meet us too :) I highly recommend scheduling a lesson at Kiln n Time! Support Sandy and her awesome small business! Make sure you leave a tip too!

I went here for a canvas night with my dear friend, Emily. The painting was a snapshot of the Pittsburgh skyline from the Roberto Clemente bridge. The entire process was really fun. Emily and I enjoyed sipping on wine and being creative. The canvases were not printed or anything - everyone had to freehand their creation. We were given a lot of freedom with painting our canvases, which was really nice. The staff were all extremely helpful and kind. My only complaint would be that the tables and easels were all squished together, so there wasn't much room to move around. I would definitely come back here for another painting night!

Stopped by this afternoon with my sisters. What a great afternoon! Sandy is a great host. We each picked out a piece of pottery to paint. She explained the process which is very simple. We each selected five colors to use. Sandy made us feel so welcome and answered any questions we had. She let us relax and enjoy company with each other while providing everything we needed for our visited. It has a large selection of pieces to paint. We painted two mugs and a jewelry box. I highly recommend visiting! Great for private events or small groups!

When I studied at Pitt, I love the Heinz Memorial Chapel a lot so my husband and I decided to have our wedding there after my graduation. At first, I thought I could handle all the wedding details by myself to save the money but then I figured out that mission impossible. I would have my wedding, my graduation project and final research paper at the same time! I would be an insane bride! So we started looking for wedding planners and Shari was the first one we contacted. Her professionalism, experienced attitude and thoughtful consideration really impressed us. After a few comparison with other wedding planners, we had Shari's assistant Andrea as our wedding planner. Andrea is the perfect one. She is nice, easy to communicate, thoughtful and very professional. I have no idea of how an American wedding goes like and she was so patient to explain all the details to me. She helped the most when we picking up all the vendors due to my budget. As my husband was working in Beijing, China by the time I was preparing the wedding, Andrea was the most helpful one to me. I can't thank her more for spending the last six months with me. Without her effort, I couldn't have such a beautiful wedding. I had a wedding prepare folder with 12 wedding vendors lists and she was always there when we had to meet with them. We almost spent every week together. I did a dual-language wedding ceremony and reception as our parents can't understand English. Andrea and her team coordinated that point with all the other vendors and we made it! Everything went through so well and our parents were grateful and happy too. For the wedding day, I just felt a little worried of the wedding party as we were not familiar with the American wedding. I knew Andrea would take care the rest of my wedding and make it perfect. I was so busy and anxious by the graduation ceremony on the morning and wedding on the evening. She helped all the other things as we planned and all of a sudden the dream came true. Thank you Andrea for being my wedding coordinator and being there with more as a friend and a sister. I wish you the best as always.

I contacted Shari to work with her as a consultant, because I was stuck and could not seem to make any decisions regarding this big event in our lives. My questions ranged from: what kind of linens should I use - to how do I select all of the vendors - to do we need a theme - to how should I arrange the seating - to where do I put the fabulous candy bar (the only request from my daughter). Basically, where do I get started! Shari really took the time to answer all of my questions with professionalism and care. She gave me suggestions that were not only unique and interesting (not the "same old, same old"), but that fit my budget, and allowed me to feel like I was able to tackle everything on my "to do" list. In addition to putting my mind at ease regarding the planning, she also created a timeline for me to provide to my DJ and venue contact so that things would run smoothly on the day of the Bat Mitzvah. My family, especially my husband who now can truly see the value in this service, are thrilled with this experience with Perfectly Planned by Shari. I highly recommend her consulting, day of, and planning services to anyone who is celebrating a special time in their lives.

The idea of bringing the bar home sounded good, and I found Steven's website for mixology classes at home. It was definitely within our price range, and I worked with Steven to customize the drinks for the bride's favorite liquors (whiskey and scotch) that also worked with our art deco glamour, Gatsby-esque party theme. Steven was teaching a class, so his business partner Randi arrived right on time to do the set-up at our location, and she was just so sweet. I had a nice time getting to know her before the party started. Steven arrived a bit later, but was just there to observe; Randi was great at teaching! None of us had ever done any *real* bartending or mixologying (I think I just verbified a verb that was previously nounified...*grammatical mind blown*), and Randi was great at helping us learn the ropes. She also introduced all of the drinks really well, teaching us the basics of what makes a drink a cocktail, and the basic structure for how to experiment on our own (I found that part particularly exciting, and have even made a cocktail or two at home already!) I think the resounding favorite from the group was the French 75 - it was so good! Even our group's pickiest eater/drinker enjoyed her drinks, which is saying something! I would highly recommend Steven's business to anyone looking to do a home party! Very affordable, customizable, and just a ton of fun. It was especially fun with a room full of lightweights!

Long story short, HIP notified my BFF via email only one week before her wedding that, to comply with the fire marshal's mandate, their venue would no longer be able to accommodate her wedding. Fortunately, the bride and bridal party were able to miraculously find another amazingly accommodating venue that same day, but HIP's handling of the issue was nothing less than classless. What was already a stressful situation was exacerbated by HIP's incompetent and unsympathetic actions, including (but not limited to): - delayed communication of the venue's inability to host the wedding - being unresponsive to requests to finalize details of the venue transition (yet still having time to post videos to social media about the situation) - trying to charge ridiculous prices for minimal venue involvement ($2,500 just to use the venue as a hotel and to take pictures there), - and claiming the rented tables were damaged when they were returned (even though they were already damaged when provided in the first place) just to be able to keep the $500 deposit We're so thrilled that the wedding turned out well despite the frustration of having to deal with HIP, but their behavior and attitude were completely unprofessional and, quite frankly, rude. If you're looking to have your big day at their venue, I'd recommend thinking twice. Give your business to people that truly have your best interests -- and not just your money -- in mind.
