Family came in for the weekend and had never made candles before! After bringing friends here countless times, I had no doubt they would love their experience. After washing your hands, smell their fragrance wall to find about 10 of your favorite scents! After, select the candle jar (different sizes are different prices), and since there were 3 of us, we got to take advantage of the buy 3 get 1 free deal! The scent expert will help you decide which scents would go best in your candle (up to 3), you will decide how much of each essential oil gets put into your wax so you truly decide on how heavy/light each scent is! Candles take about 2hrs to set or you can pick up the next day. Every aspect of this experience is customizable, down to the label! Great for large parties, kids, and as an activity to explore Lawrenceville as well. read more

I've been here twice, both for work events, and had a really great experience each time. They have so many sense to choose from and everyone who works there is very nice and helpful. You are allowed to bring in your own beverages, but no food. They have plenty of glass to choose from when it comes to pouring your candle. I would recommend checking mixed candle company out! read more

So excited to create my own candle here. I went for things that embodied my Italian Nonna summer vibe I'm going for. The staff is kind, helpful and made suggestions for what may work and great combos of scents. Creating you own unique candle that is specifically you is such a personal experience. I had the absolute best experience at Mix Candle Co. in Lawrenceville! The amount of scents was overwhelming when I walked in, but the staff members were so knowledgeable in helping me narrow down and combine scents to create a candle that I absolutely love. I came by myself, and everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I would absolutely recommend to go with friends, a solo date night, or just a night out! read more

We went to Mix Candle Co and made a fun girls day out of it! We went to the Lawrenceville location and Josalin was so helpful in guiding us through the process which was pretty easy. First, we smelled all the scent offerings they had and wrote down the ones we liked (as a foodie, all my favorites were food related of course). Then we picked out which candle jars we wanted. We then went down our lists and picked our favorite scents and Josalin helped us choose ones that would go well together. Then we designed our candle labels, mixed the scented oils we wanted together, and then put them into the wax in the jars we picked out. The candles are ready in two hours so we went and got some treats in Lawrenceville and came back. The candles came out beautifully and smelled amazing. It can be a little pricey for a candle but I think the experience is fun and a good gift to give someone. There is also a buy three get one deal we did not take advantage of. read more

A group of friends and I made candles at Mix Candle Co. there were 9 of us so we made a reservation for a Saturday afternoon. Some of our party were a little late and even though they were busy, they still were very kind to us. The staff we worked with explained the process in great detail and made our experience fun and easy. It's also BYOB so feel free to bring in some drinks if you'd like. There are a ton of different candle jars and scents to choose from so that you can create your perfect candle. I had a great experience and would come back in the future. read more

I have been coming here for years since it was the Candle Lab and celebrated several special occasions here. The most recent time I had a reservation for 10 people at 11am. As the organizer of the event for my birthday, I arrived ten minutes early (with 3 others) to be respectful of our reservation (not realizing they didn't open yet). Staff was inside and the door was open. It was pouring rain so we came inside. A staff member told us we had to wait outside. I said "I am Alaina and have the reservation for 11am. Do we have to wait in the rain?" And they said yes. I was flabbergasted. This is Lawrenceville so you can't simply walk back to your car in the parking lot and wait. A much better response from a business who specialize in customer experience is "welcome! We're happy to have you celebrate your birthday with us. We open in 10 minutes so we're not quite ready for you yet, however, you're more than welcome to wait over *whatever place most appropriate* or if you want to brave the rain there is a coffee shop a few stores down if you want to grab a coffee first" That would have been the appropriate response. Not. We're not open. Wait outside. (Do I have to wait in the rain?) Yes. That being said, Alexis was very friendly, and she assisted our group. I'd suggest the business not scheduling reservations before 11:15am. read more

This was so much fun and a perfect way to make new memories with our family! I called day-of and asked if I needed to make an appointment and they said no, just come in anytime but at least an hour before they close. It takes about 45-minutes to go through this whole experience but I would budget at least an hour, especially if you're making a candle with someone else. I will note that the candles in store don't smell super strong which could be good for people who are sensitive to strong smells. The candle we made also isn't overbearing and you smell it gradually as it burns which is perfect for me! Sarah, our candle mixologist, was amazing and we will remember her as part of our memory and experience! She was so knowledgeable and helped us make the perfect candle. They have different size candle jars ranging from $25-$40. If you choose the smaller 8 oz candle for example, it's $25 and that includes your price of admission so to speak. So for $25, you're making a candle, creating memories with your friends and family, and doing a super fun activity. Super worth it in my opinion and a great gift idea or date night plan. We were having too much fun to take a lot of pictures. I can't wait to go back! read more

We had a fun date night here recently! There are a ton of scents to smell and find your favorites, and then you work with a mixologist to pick three that would work well together. You get to design a label which is fun and then mix and pour your candle! they had a variety of price points too for the types of candles you can make. We each made one that was about $24 which I thought was reasonable. They also hold them for you for awhile since it takes two hours to solidify. We originally had planned to pick them up later that night but took too long and it got close to their closing time, so we picked them up the next day! It would be easy to go earlier though then grab some dinner to kill the two hours and be able to pick them up the same day. It is encouraged to make a reservation at least 48 hours in advance using their online form just to make sure they have availability! read more

Made a reservation for 11 here on Saturday. Great time as it wasn't too busy! I loved all the parts of the experience - sniffing the candles, making the label, and mixing the scents. Looked around the shops and grabbed lunch at the many spots on Butler to kill two hours. I did an 8oz candle with the cheapest glass and it was $24 with tax. It felt like a fair price. In terms of accessibility I believe there was a step up into the shop. Also, all the tables are high top that you work at and the candles are on higher shelves. You'd want to call ahead to maybe make special arrangements to sit at a lower table. LGBTQ friendly! read more

This was the perfect date night! We went just a few days after Christmas Day choosing the earliest appointment of the day. Submit your appointment request online and they'll confirm which of your preferred days/times you're booked for via email. Upon arrival, you'll take a seat at the bar that has a mini clipboard with a card questionnaire. If it's cooler outside, there's a coat rack available. Have a bag? No problem, there are convenient bag hooks underneath the counter. Wash your hands and you're ready to begin smelling all of the single scent candles along the way. Write your favorites on the card. From coffee to cologne to bourbon to yuzu, the sky's the limit, and you're bound to find something that you enjoy. Then, you will choose a home for your candle. Prices are located by each of the jars. The staff will help you select 2-3 scents that will complement each other. In your spoon, you'll mix, measure and make your perfect concoction! Make a cute label to adorn your jar! After heating your wax, dump it in and mix for a minute! It will take approximately 2 hours for your candle to cool. Go explore Lawrenceville while you're waiting. Arrive back to the shop to pick up your perfectly packaged candle in a cute little gift bag with your original card! We loved this experience and our candles so much, we will definitely be back for more fun! read more

I had a good time here. They are BYOB though they do not allow food. They are a little pricey though you are paying for the experience of making your own candle so it's understandable. They have buy 3 get one free. Made 4 of the small size candles and paid $80. We were there for an hour making candles. They take 2 hours to dry though they will hold them for you to come back and pick them up, they hold them for a decent amount of time too. read more

Great time with family. no waiting, goes the extra mile. Very patient and takes the time to do it right. Good service. Will be back.

What a fun experience! It's not cheap but it's also not crazy expensive either. For the experience of making your own scent and spending time with friends/family to do it, I actually think it's a pretty good deal since candles are so expensive in general anyways. We did the buy-3-get-1-free deal, which was great! Anthony helped us with choosing our scents, and he gave strong, honest opinions that made choosing much easier. Warning: the place was POPPING on a Saturday afternoon in November. It was similarly busy when we returned the next day to pick up our candles. So if loud spaces aren't your thing, come on a weekday. And/or if you have time constraints, make a reservation in advance. Also, you can bring your own alcohol/drinks in so think about doing that if you're going on a weekend day and don't have a reservation to make your wait a little more fun. read more

Such a fun place to make candles and memories with friends! Could definitely see this being a great date night spot as well. I went with my best friend, both of us big lovers of candles. Such an awesome place. Heard about it from a friend a few years ago and making candles here is an annual tradition for me. So many scents to choose from when customizing your candle. Same for jars. Friendly and informative staff. It's a fun activity to do and then grab a bite or drink nearby for the two hours or so the candles need before you can take them home. 10/10 and will keep coming back. So cute! Enjoyed making Mother's Day candles in the heart of the Strip District with my Mom. They had a great deal to buy 3 and get one free, so my Mom made plenty of options. I found out that they have additional scents (specifically the seasonal ones) that aren't out to try, but if you ask for a certain blend they can let you use them. I made a delicious essential oil blend of ginger root, lemon and eucalyptus that is a great smell for a small space. The staff was very friendly and we had a great time. read more

Love, love, love! Such a fun, unique concept. The process is pretty simple - choose your jar, pick your scents, pour, stir. Hardest part is narrowing down all the scents to make a perfect blend! I have been numerous times now and every time the staff is extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, and willing to help you select scents that would create a fantastic candle! Oh, and it's BYOB which is an added bonus. It tends to be extremely busy on the weekends, so I try to go in the afternoon on a weekday. Helps with parking too, since parking on/around Butler St can be a challenge. 10/10 recommend - so fun! read more

On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, Mix Candle Co is a build-your-own adventure, whether you prefer fresh, floral, sweet, or earthy scents! Mix Candle Co has a sweet setup of what feels like 100s of , and I think I sniffed them all as I tried to figure out what scented candle I wanted to design. we chose 10+ scents & the candle holder the mixologist guided our scent combos we designed our candle labels (coloring skills for the win) then we mixed the scented oils Poured into hot wax & stirred And then, you wait two hours. If you time it right, you can grab dinner after mixing your candles (i suggest the Parlor Dim Sum or Nanban or the Abbey on Butler). Then you head back to grab your creations! Since we did a weeknight, I went back later to pick up my candle (but they'll hold your candle for 6 months?!?! but like, why would you leave your candle???) I love how my candles ended up, and they'll be so pretty in my plant fireplace this coming season! scent: Le-almond-grass Cake Batter : chai clove carrot cake : pear lemongrass verbals : Lily of the valley, clove, magnolia So are you a sweet scent (cake batter) or a fresh scent (florals/lemon) person? The candle lab seemed like such a cool concept, I really wish i could have experienced more of it during my visit there. I stopped by because I do love candles and always have one burning. You can make your own candles here! Unfortunately due to the pandemic they've limited the number of reservations and they were full for the day so i wasn't able to try it out. The staff was apologetic but i was bummed I couldn't make my own scent to take home with me. The shop is adorned with walls of various candles all which did smell rather amazing. But I decided not to buy that day, I would have rather made my own distinct scent that was my own. This place would be perfect for a date night or eventually, a small group gathering. The tip here is to call ahead and make an appointment. I will absolutely do that next time read more

I've had several great experiences at the Candle Lab. They have an ample amount of scents for you to smell and choose from. As you smell, you write down which ones you like. After that, a team member will evaluate what you wrote down and then suggest a combination of scents that will blend well together. The fun part- you get to pour in the exact amount of each scent that you like to create a unique scent blend. Overall the process takes around 20-40 minutes depending on how quickly you pick your scents. After you're done, it takes 90 minutes for the candles to set which gives you time to walk around Lawrenceville. Note- during covid times make sure to make a reservation in advance! read more

I loved my experience at The Candle Lab! A friend and I went to make our own candles recently-- a reservation was required but they took us a bit early because they had some free room. Everything is explained to you and the employees make suggestions about which scents will go together best. There are plenty of ways to take your custom scent home -- several candle jars and sizes, mist, sugar scrub, spa salts, wax tarts, lotion and reed diffusers. They also have gift packages, shower gel and bubble bath for sale. I'd totally do this again. If you keep your candle jar after you've burned it, you can bring it back to have it filled for a discount. read more

This place channels my inner Serenity by Jan. But The Office references aside, they make candle making a fun and easy experience. The number of scents to choose from is pretty extensive. I've been here twice, and my goal is to make a unique candle that I couldn't just pick up at Bath and Body Works. Some of the scents are more traditional like vanilla bean and pear, while there are also a good variety of more unusual scents like wasabi and cannabis. There are probably at least 80 scents to choose from. You start by smelling your options and writing down your favorite scents. Then a staff member suggests scent combinations of two or three you've written down and mix it up through a combination of oils. The jars to choose from have varying price points, from $25 to $55 each. Also they usually seem to have a promotion with buy three get one free, so bigger groups will get a discount. It can get a little pricey, but it's been a fun activity if you're looking for something that's a bit different! read more

I took my fiancé here for her birthday and it was a memorable date night. The staff were friendly and the entire process was so much fun. I don't want to give away spoilers - but the fun comes from the experience. This activity can take a good 1-1.5 hours to prepare the fragrance and another 2 hrs for the candle to cure. This is a good activity for the entire family or for a work mixer. read more

Oh my goodness this place is the coolest! Stumbled across it while in Lawrenceville ("Candle Lab, what's that? Do you think there's tons of candles I can smell??") and was thrilled to find out I can mix my own candle scent!!!! Basically you smell a ton of scents (maybe 100+), pick your faves and combine 2-3 with the ratio you want to make your own candle. You also pick which container you'd prefer, which is how price is determined. It takes maybe 20-40 mins to smell everything and mix your scent, depending on how much time you spend among the scents, and then you come back at least an hour and a half later to pick it up once it's ready. My only issue with this place is that prices are a bit steep, but it is a really cute activity that I didn't mind splurging on too much. Pro tip: baked bread (my fave scent) and hot cocoa make for a brownie/chocolate croissant type deal read more

There are many size and jar options and the prices are about the same as a candle anywhere else. No extra fee. It was so fun and we have a great memory item! Typical gentrification establishment gobbling up Lawrenceville. Make-your-own or purchase pre-made overpriced and I mean really overpriced candles with average to below average scents. Geared for the soccer mom suburbanites and their broods. Plenty of places to get far better smelling candles at better rates and can do so by still supporting local businesses. Just not this one. read more

Slowly becoming my go-to for candles! Unfortunately, I've never sat down to make my own blend, but they have a whole wall of candles with some seriously interesting scents! Basil is one of my oddball favorites, but I enjoy the dessert ones the most such as Hazelnut, Pumpkin Spice (seasonal), Whipped Cream, and Brown Sugar! They are open during these weird covid times and you must wear a mask. Makes it difficult to smell the candles but I noticed if you sort of waft the lid in the general direction of your face you get a pretty good idea! They sanitize all candles that are handled and you are given a "fresh" candle from stock in the back. The sometimes have deals but their candles are on the pricy side, probably on par with Yankee Candle but they don't have the mini options (that I know of). I recommend them anyway, and often do the buy 3 get one free just because I'm pretty in love with these strange and wonderful smells! read more

We had a group of almost 20 ladies attend last Saturday for part of a Bachelorette Party. We had a nice time making candles, but one of the employees, Hannah, was extremely rude and unwelcoming. She seemed almost annoyed or irritated that we were there and it made many of us feel uncomfortable. When we were finishing up making our candles, some of the ladies were using the restroom and some were paying/getting their coats on - one of the employees told us that we could move all of our drinks/purses and set them on the end of one of the bar areas until we were ready to go. We did that and then Hannah came over and started yelling "whoever these drinks belong to, these need moved right now, glad you had fun, but it is time for you go to" in such a condescending tone. We had just spent so much money there and it was so rude of her to speak to customers this way. A few of us returned a couple of hours later to get the candles for our group. Hannah was standing at the cash register and another employee was at the pick-up wall. The employee at the pick-up are asked us who we were picking up for and we replied that we were there to pick up for everyone that was there in our bachelorette party. Hannah overhead this and then yelled over "she wasn't here during your party so that means absolutely nothing to her", again in a very rude/annoyed tone. The employee at the pick-up wall was very helpful and friendly and helped us to find all of the items that we were there to pick up. If these types of employees or this type of behavior are acceptable to this company, I will NEVER be back to this location and I will be recommending against this location to anyone that I know. This was a huge disappointment and misstep in my opinion - you could've had almost 20 women that could've returned and/or recommended this to their friends and family and instead, you have almost 20 women telling everyone about our negative experience with Hannah. I hope that Hannah can get some insight on how to be respectful of others and this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future. read more

So much fun! This place was packed when we went, and i understand why. They have a great system so you can start the candle making process as soon as you get there, even if there's a wait for the actual assembly part. I was surprised that my friend and I (not part of a large group) weren't put with strangers to share an employee to increase efficiency. But we weren't and that's awesome and shows Candle Lab's commitment to the customer experience. There are so many choices for products - not just candles, but bath products, reed diffusers, etc. The experience was 5 stars. I want to give 3.5 stars overall but that's not a choice. This is due to my dissatisfaction in the quality of the finished product. Unfortunately the wicks in my candies were not centered so they're not burning evenly. I'm serious candle person (wick trimmer, timing) so it's not laziness or lack of candle care on my end. The experience/products are expensive, but would be well worth it, IF the finished product was just better. See photo. If I go again, i will make a non candle item. read more
