A friend of mine told me about this place so we decided to meet there for lunch. I hadn't heard about it until that day. They have daily specials and lucky for us, $5 burger on Mondays when all I wanted was a nice, juicy burger. Oh My! They have an extensive burger menu! It took me longer to peruse the menu and finally settle on the brat burger while my friend got the Blu cow. I thought the brat (sausage) part would be in the shape of a sausage but it was another patty. The sweet potato fries were topped with sea salt which I adore! My friend enjoyed her Blue cow burger. We were both happy with the food. Service was meh. Our waiter recommended two things on the menu - neither of which we got - then checked on us about every 30 seconds until we ordered. The food came out fairly quick for such a busy place. Lucky for us, the check did too. I'd return for the patio seating and fairly priced drinks/food. read more

Very overrated! Ordered the poutine burger and it was one note, salt. Ordered a beer and two came. Was told it's two for ones "oh nice!", I thought. That was until I saw how much "one" beer was. $7.50 for a tap beer? Had to double check that I didn't accidentally eat at an airport bar. IF you do go make sure it isn't bingo night. Very loud so we ended up eating outside. One plus is the server did bring some of their berry pepper because I couldn't decide between the two burgers. The sauce did help balance the saltiness of the poutine burger. That gets you two stars. read more

Figured we'd try this place out as it seemed interesting and I heard they had good burgers. So, the burgers. I figured I'd go with something sort of basic as I like to give the actual burger taste a try- Cali burger it is! The menu says they are a 6oz patty but they seemed more like a 1/4. They were pretty thin. Flavor was ok but because they were thin they weren't super juicy or anything. They have lots of variety (including a donut burger) and price seems mostly fair at $10 for any of them. Fries were good though coated fries aren't my favorite. Saturdays 4-7 they have 6 jumbo wings for $6 (or nachos which looked tasty). Wings are whole wings - I asked for them cooked extra crispy/well done and they were perfectly cooked. Asian is just sweet chili sauce (meh), but the buffalo were pretty good. Super yummy blue cheese dressing! 2-4-1s. sigh. Husband ordered Summer Shandy. Not sure if it was considered a specialty/craft beer or what but they were $7. 2-4-1 price this is fine, but didn't seem like a GREAT! deal. The atmosphere is nice, it's a big place, nice patio. They have pool, darts and shuffleboard. Service was good. Oh, and they don't have free popcorn :( but they do have peanuts and cheese balls so they'll get an honorary spot on the free popcorn list. I wanted to watch the gopher penn state game at a bar, so my boyfriend and I stumbled upon muddy cow. We originally also thought it'll the area of 2 For 1 sounded great. Until we saw our two for 1 Drinkers were $8. So overall the value was subpar. My draft beer was more expensive then a cocktail, which seems very backwards to me. The menu options were good. We went around brunch time so I got the Spanish hash which hit the spot! I personally wish I had more hash browns and more cheese (but I love cheese). I would order it again in a heartbeat. My boyfriend ordered a variety of things including their pancakes, or should I call them buttermilk cakes. There were delicious, but upon tasting them, you know they were full of cream/buttermilk. Service was solid but nothing amazing. We did watch the whole football game so we were in it more for the long run. If we do come back, we'd split the 2 for 4 instead of each getting our own drink. The manager said I should've called the other three times and said there's nothing they can do except make sure it's right next time. The Muddy Cow is one of my favorite bars in the area because of its versatility. This is the kind of bar that you can go to for pool, darts, claw machines, food, etc. It's surprisingly easy to kill a lot of time there. The interior is dimly lit and rustic in the coolest way. Right when you walk in you'll pass a giant Cow sculpture and from there you can hangout at the bar, in the entertainment area, or at high top tables. In my personal experience the service was awesome. Our bartender was dealing with a difficult customer and handled the situation calmly and quickly. The cops had to come remove the gentleman from the establishment but in the midst of this we were still able to get drinks in a timely fashion. I would recommend this bar for individuals, couples, or large groups. It's a spacious bar with various activities that are fun for everyone. Also, the bathroom stalls are the doors of refrigerators so that was a cool touch. I'll definitely be back again. (By the way, they have 2-for-1 drinks)!! read more

I enjoyed the food at Muddy Cow. A friend of mine introduced me this spot. I've been in the area at the Olive Garden across the street, but never thought to look across the road to see what's there. It looks like there are only apartment buildings over there, so I missed it. In the time that checked in and posted pix and finally did my review, I've been there 2x. LOL My first time, I road with a friend, any additional visits, I drove myself and I live in Mpls.... if that tells you about how much i enjoyed the grub. Ambiance: Typical Coon Rapids/Fridley atmosphere; hole in the wall feel, but it isn't; typical suburban NE bar; has tv's, patio to go smoke, tables to dine for family, the areas are sort of sectioned off to create atmosphere for each area (nice touch)... larger space then you would expect from outside. Each time I went, it was clean. Parking lot adjacent. Food: I HAD to try the Dill Pickle dry rub chicken wings. They were good. Think Dill Pickle potato chips, but on fried wings! I also had the cajun dry rub, both were good and so were the fries. Service: A little mixed on that part. My first times, I had wonderful service! From the young lady at the door who greets (who by the way was awesome every time I went), to my awesome server who popped my Muddy Cow cherry and gave me superb service. Now, when I ordered my food to go, is when i had the problem. The bartender wasn't attentive or especially friendly. He ignored me and didnt' acknowledge my presence with a look or greeting for at least 2 pass by's, but finally graced me with a hello on the 3rd try (3x a charm) and i was able to pick up my order that was waiting for me. Said good bye and thank you to pleasant girl who was on the door and enjoyed my food when i made it back to the city. Will i go back? Ab sa freckin lutely! I don't think I will order food to go anymore though, I don't like being ignored and realize the good service comes from the waiters. Just Okay. Come here every once in a while for $6 burger Monday's (any* burger off the menu served with fries, have to purchase a beverage). Their burgers are decent but not amazing. Would say the same about the rest of their food. They have "2 for 1s" all day every day: which means you pay the exact same amount for a drink as you would at other corner bars except now you are forced into buying two at a time. Service is fine- ambiance is clean but often really loud as it is large and open. They have free peanuts and cheese puffs which is cool. Overall it's just okay. Me and a friend tried it out today on a Monday. Which is a great day to be there because it's half-price on all their hamburgers and buy one get one free cocktails. They are known for their hamburgers, which were very tasty. Mine was overdone, but nevertheless it was still decent. My server was pleasant but never came back after I received the meal. While I'd love to say something about the food, we didn't even get that far. We came in around 1 on a Sunday, and it wasn't too busy. The waiters and waitresses passed us by, even made direct eye contact while we waited, and never ever attended to us. There weren't a lot of people in our area but there was no shortage of staff there who could have taken our order. We waited there for 20 minutes, staff just walking right by us the entire time. The bartender was incredibly rude to me and other guests at my party throughout the event. I went to the bar to play pull tabs and because I was too slow to tell the bartender what box I wanted to pull from she became very rude. She looked at me with a scowl on her face and said "do you see all of these people sitting here"? then she walked away from me and made the other bartender help me. My event was a graduation ceremony streaming live in the private room I rented. I was dressed very classy and was very respectful. I was treated disrespectfully by the bartender who is blonde around 40 yrs old. The waitresses are terrified of her. SHE'S A BULLY TO THEM. I won't go back if she still works there. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, hence the reason I chose it for my graduation party. (which brought them a lot of revenue)I'm still in shock that I was charged the bill that was given to me after the way I was treated. After my party cleared out and everything was packed up, my sister, a friend, and I sat in the dining area. We ordered appetizers and lemonade. The staff let us sit there for almost half an hour only for the cook to come over to us and say.... and I quote "don't shoot the messenger, but I was told not to serve you". This was our second visit, thinking we would try again after our first dismal visit. The service was slow. Our waiter never did bring my husband's pickles that he asked for. He bought more water but only for my husband, not me. It is a sports bar so the noise level is very high, although we could hear each other across our table. We arrived early for dinner, about 5, and there was no waiting. As it got later there was a short wait. The food was fine. I really liked the cole slaw! Not overly spicey or swimming in sauce. My hubby, and I, enjoyed the seasoned sour cream! I had the Paul Bunyon burger with gravy, Cheese curds and a onion ring. Very intetesting and different. Good. A bit salty for me and a lot to eat. I had never even heard of this place until today. We were driving around after visiting some stores and my husband remembered one of his co-workers telling him this place was fun and charming. Okay. So we stopped in and grabbed a bite. It was a lovely day so we waited for 20 min to sit outside. The host was very, very nice and keep assuring us it would not be much longer. No biggie. They had a fat number of tables outside and some larger parties so not a big deal. Menu consists of a tone of burger choices, sandwiches, appetizers, salads and dessert. Ordered the BLT burger with avocado which actually made the burger even better in my opinion. Husband ordered the reuben which had a different taste to it. Kiddo ordered the chicken fingers and fries which also came with applesauce and oreos. Really great deal for that kids meal and enough for a second and third meal. Upgraded to the onion rings which were very big, but very greasy. Service was decent. Not overly friendly, but she seemed to nail everything down and that was all we needed. She was good at her job. Yelp doesn't show it, but the Coon Rapids Muddy Cow is open during Covid, for curbside pickup. M-F 4pm-8pm and Sat/Sun 12pm-8pm. I placed my order yesterday, from home, and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes! And it WAS!! I ordered the Best Buy burger with coleslaw (OMG, their coleslaw IS DA BOMB!!) It's a good thing we like the food at this place, as their serving staff is terrible. You can sit there and watch your server go by several times before any acknowledgement. Our last visit on Sunday we sat for over 15 minutes before we were even asked what we would like to drink, as we saw our server help tables next to us. I have come here a few different times. Usually we will come on Wing Tuesday here or on burger Monday's. If coming around dinner time, it is most likely you will have to wait for a table. The food here isn't too bad. The wings have pretty good flavors and they are very good sized. I always get the Asian flavor. The burgers are average. Pretty good deal for $5 on Monday's. The overall restaurant is always pretty busy and loud around dinner time. Definitely a place where you could go and watch a sports game with your friends. They also have pull tabs here. My family and I stopped in on a Sunday for lunch and the first thing we noticed was how few people were there and their booth seats were torn badly which gave us doubts but it got better from there . We had burgers and the Philly sandwiches which were quite good and the service was excellent along with modest prices . An added bonus is it's right next door to the race track and very close to other attractions like Valleyfair and Mystic Lake Casino . Went here on a Monday evening during a Vikings game with 3 of my friends. All the good spots were taken so I decided to wait for a better table so I could watch the game and enjoy the atmosphere. I was seated 10 minutes later in the middle of the room. There were a lot of customers so it took about 45 minutes for the waiters/waitresses to make their rounds. I ordered a lot of food and drinks and enjoyed all of it! It was buy 1 pizza get 1 free so I got the supreme and the pepperoni was free. The boneless chicken wings were also very tender and juicy. I forgot the type of sauce my wings were. Their Irish mule alcoholic beverage was also refreshing! I recommend getting there early if you want good seating during big events. Make sure to order as much as you can the 1st time during big events if you don't want to stay there longer than 3 hours. We ordered drinks and food every 45 minutes. I really thought about giving this place 2 stars, but after I wrote my review, I came back and changed it to 1 star. It's not worth your time or money. First, I would like to say that I went there for lunch, and they have a sign that said "Seat Yourself" so I did. But then NO ONE came to serve us or bring us a menu. I went with my nephew so he got the kid's Mac & Cheese and he said, "It might be better if it had more cheese." I got the the Mac & Cheese Melt and that was the most underwhelming thing ever. I could have gotten a better meal at McDonald's, it was that bad. Every once in a while, you go out and think, "I could make this," but that statement had never been more true. My "melt" had the kid's mac & cheese on white bread and it wasn't even toasted all that well. A little brown on both sides, but definitely not toasted. The slice of cheese inside wasn't even melted. It's not something you should serve at a restaurant. You should probably take it off the menu, it was THAT bad. (refer to photos) I've had better mac & cheese at my local Cub. I've had better toast from my toaster. I wanted to give this place a better review, but at the end of the day, nothing redeemed it. The waitress never apologized for the long wait. Been here a few times and every time has been good. They offer good bar foods with generous portions. Today we came for $1 jumbo wing Tuesday, minimum three wings per flavor. I've tried all the flavors and they're just ok. The rubs are mediocre, and the sauces tasted something coming out of a bottle purchased from the grocery store. Nothing memorable basically. Wings were juicy inside and I had few that were dry. Overall wings are not bad, great for the price. I would prefer The Wells Sports Tavern instead because the sauces is tastier. We ordered the Paul Bunyan burger, oh my it was sooo good. Every bite was pleasant with the combination of the soft brioche(I think) bun, crispy bacon & onion ring, mushroom gravy in the middle, and cheese curds in the middle along with the gravy. It did make the cheese curds soft but who cares it was delicious. It did taste a bit salty due to the fried items together but if you dip with ketchup or just down a drink or water, you will be fine. Came with light battered french fries with seasoning salt on them, they were so appetizing, we ate them all. Another tip, we've ordered Poutine before, it can feed 5-6 people just fine and very yummy. The 3 of us, couldn't finish half. $5 burger night on Monday night. Not unusual. Except this is $5 for any burger on the menu. Tonight I had the BLT burger With bacon, lettuce and tomato, but also avocado! It comes with either fries or coleslaw. Last time I had the fries and this time the coleslaw. Both were good. The coleslaw is really delicious, but it has dill in it. I loved it, but not everyone will. DH had the sub of onion rings for an additional $2. They were really tasty, but a bit greasy and the order was 4 rings, although they were big. The fries might be a better bet. We like the neighborhood atmosphere with people of all ages including kids. Did I mention the 2 for 1 drinks? We had Angry Orchard on tap. 2 for $7.
