So when I needed boot work done I had to look elsewhere. So I drove an hour to snowflake to try my luck, believe me I asked a ton of questions before making the trek and frankly I'm surprised they had the patience for all of them. Long story short, I appreciate the experience I had and the experience they have. I was impressed enough to drive back there over an hour in a snowstorm to have my wife's boots fitted and she Was just as impressed.

I figured the best place to check out gloves would be a ski shop. The store is set up in a way that makes it fairly easy to navigate. I didn't have to search hard to find what I wanted. While I was looking at the children's gloves (my mom has small hands), Kaley asked if I needed any help. I told her I was buying gloves for my elderly mother who has Raynaud's disease, and that I thought the Gortex ones I found in the children's department would be great, but that I would also like to see a balaclava for Mom. Kaley explained that the Gortex gloves I chose were a nice and warm choice, but wondered if I'd like to consider another glove that she said was popular with a lot of others with Raynaud's disease. She said the Size Small in ladies was pretty small, so maybe it would suitable for my mom. I was impressed she knew what Raynaud's disease was and could point me toward a glove others with the problem were purchasing. I took her up on her suggestion, as she explained that after Christmas, Mom could exchange it for something else if this one didn't fit the bill. She also showed me a balaclava that would be great for my mom. The store was clean, the customer service fantastic, and the exit area kept very warm thanks to a portable heater they keep there as a service to customers. I'm not someone who skis or snowboards, but when it comes to warm winter wear, I will be going back to make further purchases.

I've also dealt with Alyssa previously and she was wonderful to deal with. They're the only spot really to get your skis in Buffalo. Their prices are cheaper than online, which is kind of hard to do. The new shop is fresh and edgy, with a separate entrance off Main Street to pick and drop off rentals. You'll run across Pat, Shad and a host of others who have worked at the shop for many seasons, and are certified boot fit experts, as well as knowledgeable in a plethora of many other areas of ski gear fit. The ski/board industry has exploded with so many fresh colors and new technologies with gear, apparel and accessories. Mud, Sweat N Gears hosts a nice selection that you will not find in any of the big box stores around WNY. Black pants are soooo 1990. Mike was very patient and was able to answer all my questions and offer product suggestions on how to solve my problems. I will be back soon to get a full tune up, sharpening and wax. Since I was here I figured I'd look around and see if there were any goggles I liked. I was thrilled to be helped by a saleswoman who took her time answering my questions and making helpful recommendations. She made sure to wipe down anything I touched so the inventory would be safe for the next shopper. I was lucky to find a great pair of goggles which happened to be on sale . The young man that assisted me was very kind and patient however, my first day of skiing was painful due to the boot being too tight around my calf area, even leaving bruising. Second day revisit for some assistance and he adjusted the calf portion, but still severe calf cramping, accompanied by bruising and feet pain. Upon investigating, I noticed the tongue area possessed a foreign object behind the padding, causing the issue. And the boots were just poorly fitting. However, the staff was friendly and helpful.

I must have written that review way before I gave myself enough time to decide if I liked the socks or not, but here I am 4 years later and I now EXCLUSIVELY WEAR DARN TOUGH SOCKS. Thank you, Aurora Outfitters, for turning me onto these wonderful socks. Also thank you, past tense me for clairvoyantly deciding to purchase said socks and change my life forever. I've been itching to check out this store, and I'm really not sure why I never ventured in here sooner. Maybe it just wasn't the right time. This past year my urge to hike has kicked into overdrive and lately I've been all about outdoor activities - so going in here not only cured some boredom, but got me excited for the warmer months and getting back out on the trails. The shop shares a building with another business. Once you go up the steps and into the building, the shop is straight back (and pretty hard to miss with the signs!) This shop is pretty large, with everything and anything to fill your outdoor needs. Tons of apparel with popular outdoor brands like Carhartt, hiking boots, and other useful gear for camping and hiking. You can get snow shoes and chains here for your winter hikes, and there's even some gear for your dog! I only came in here for the socks but I also left with these cool fake "skipping stone" dog toys, and a double sided spoon/fork. Total score! Looking forward to returning in the summer to fulfill more of my hiking needs. P.S. I love my socks. They're stylish and keep my feet warm!
