Food - so very good! Everything was hot and fresh and house-made. The gnocchi were little dumplings…read moreof pasta numminess. Yes, nummy. The chicken picatta was so, so good- just the right amount of lemony goodness. The Marsala was my husband's favorite- he's said it's some of the best he's had. My daughter said her veal was delicious. Get the cannoli- even if you don't normally like cannolis. My daughter loved her gooey snickerdoodle butter cake topped with ice cream. The decor and staff are everything you want in a family-owned Italian restaurant. There was Sinatra music playing and My Cousin Vinny on the TV - it was great. There is indoor and outdoor seating. It is a small restaurant with limited seating. If you are pressed, make a reservation. Don't go here, if you want quick, impersonal service. Street parking, just a heads up.

I know this may be an unpopular opinion but honestly I thought this was just average Italian food…read more I'd go again because there wasn't anything wrong with it but I wasn't wow'd. I tried the meatball appetizer - it was decent but not really anything special. For dinner I had the chicken parm in a blush sauce which came with a side of gnocchi and my dining partner had grandmas Sunday gravy, again both decent. We skipped dessert because it was a decent amount of food. The other thing I'll mention is you're going to want to make reservations if you go. The entire restaurant seats what seems like 30 people.

I have been meaning to write this review for years. Memory and life get in the way. Sandwiches do…read morenot. Seagrave's has been feeding me and the good people of Salem with more care than many of us probably deserve. I have sung in a church nearby on occasion for nearly 30 years now and whenever Seagrave's caters our lunches the world feels a little less cruel. A great sub can do that. A cheesesteak even more so. The bread has the right balance of chew and give. The meat is tender and unapologetically plentiful. A sandwich from Seagrave's is not a snack. It is a declaration. You will be full and you will be happy about it. The subs are delicious and reliable, like an old friend who always shows up. The cheesesteaks are even better. Whoever decided that much beef and that much cheese should share the same roll should be awarded a medal. For half a century or more the Seagrave family made this little white concrete box on West Broadway into one of the best reasons to stop in Salem. Now it is under new management. You may worry that something this good could slip away. Do not worry. The family is still watching and still guiding and based on my most recent meal the sandwiches are as tremendous as ever. The building itself looks like nothing much. For years there was not even a sign. You had to know where to go and if you were lucky enough to know you went. Word of mouth was more than enough advertising because food like this does its own talking. So here is the advice. Put Seagrave's into your GPS. Park outside the plain white building. Step inside. Order a sub or better yet a cheesesteak. Watch them pile it high and then take the whole glorious thing back to your house or your car or your church hall. Take a bite. Life will not be perfect but it will be slightly better. Five stars. Always has been. Always will be.

If you get the sub, add in those "PICKLES', and you could taste the freshness in the cold cut. Now for the CHEESESTEAK;;;;;;; I forgot to add the Oregano and Garlic Powder.. Did that once I got home and that thing was light and filling. Actually both (sub&steak) were quite light when consuming. Not that heavy bloated feeling. Great Customer service, parking, and small town feel. Thank-you so much for having me at your establishment.

It's so much more than Bruce Willis' favorite sandwich shop…read more We stopped in to kill an hour on our way to a funeral. My wife had a huge Cobb Salad, mostly iceberg lettuce but with lots of protein toppings. I had two tasty (not Andy's tasty but still pretty good) slices of pizza and a can of soda. The total, including a 3% "Credit Card Surcharge," was $17.45. To me, that's not too shabby. It was also fun browsing their store. The walls are festooned with BW pictures and movie posters. They have lots of interesting stuff for sale, including a large selection of homemade baked goods. The Roman Pantry isn't quite a diner, and if you're looking for a place to eat that isn't one of those (I can't imagine why), or you happen to be at this intersection of N. Golfwood and Rt 48 for some reason, then take a minute and swing by. I know you won't regret it.

It's got to be one of the biggest cheesesteaks I've ever had. But that doesn't mean there's a lack of quality. The meat and cheese ratio were great and melted very nicely. I loved everything about it. I wish I had stayed longer in the store because it seemed like there was a lot to it that I may have missed. Everyone was very helpful and a really cool place that I can't wait to go back. Inside is real authentic.
