I never cared for the practice as a service. The nurses, lab staff and my PCP were very good. I put up with the practice due to the PCP and Nurses. My PCP left. I was thrown into the indifferent and rude machine that is MVIM. I got an email notice my PCP was leaving. I called to ask if I had a new PCP. Nope and not plan to assign me one. Can I get my Rx refills? Nope. Ran out of my Rx. Called. We will get back to you. For two weeks I called. No response. Another example. I was waiting at the front desk for one of the staff I had seen many times. A person in street clothes abruptly and rudely said, "I'm a doctor. Wait for a receptionist." I hadn't said a word. I was waiting in silence without making a look. Good luck if you go there. My new practice is patient focused. My new PCP is the very good as was my last. read more

My elderly mother-in-law (who we provide full-time care for) is a patient here. We previously went to the Hinson Farm Road practice for many years and loved it, but started going to the Lorton office when we moved down to that area. The two practices are night and day. I will say this: The Lorton office itself is nice, clean, and modern, and many of the nurses and phlebotomists are wonderful and the ONLY reason this is a 2-star review rather than a 1-star. Because the front desk staff comes off as completely disinterested, it takes forever to get anyone on the phone, and we have had a number of communication issues between the office and our pharmacy with regards to prescription refills. But these are just minor annoyances in the grand scheme of things. What is completely unacceptable is the way the doctor treats patients, and specifically their time. On three separate occasions, we have been called back (or, in the age of COVID, logged on for a virtual appointment) and been kept waiting more than 45 minutes to be seen by Dr. Herrara. The excuse is always the same: Just a generic "He's running behind." Well, to my mind, that's a scheduling issue. But when he does finally grace us with his presence, he does not apologize for or even acknowledge being so extraordinarily late. To add insult to injury, he has been blatantly rude/dismissive of me when I take her in, because he has to speak Spanish to her but English to me. I understand that's a pain, but after being kept waiting so long, the very last thing I expect from him is to receive attitude so that we can effectively communicate with regards to her health needs. It is hard finding good doctors in the area who speak both English and Spanish fluently, but I would still recommend looking elsewhere unless you have 1.5-2 hours to spend in the doctor's office each time you come in. read more

Thought I might go to a different Mt. Vernon Internal Medicine office that is a little closer to home for my lab work (Lorton). Probably was not a good idea. Sat in the waiting room for 1-1/2 hours while watching 3-4 rotations of many sick people come in and out. I've now been exposed to who knows what for 90 minutes in a small enclosed room. I'm over 65 years age. Another patient who had an appointment 10 minutes after me was called 1/2 hour before me. Asked the front desk twice, wondering if I was forgotten. Yeah so Dr, Herrera completely misdiagnosed me. He said it was ringworm so I tried to treat it topically with no response. I had to go see a rheumatologist to find out It was psoriasis with psoriatic arthritis. Probably could have been pain free for way longer. read more

The officer manager doesn't have good handle on her staff. The front desk staff doesn't greet you other than the nice young black yong women, she is the only one seem to know "American Common Curtsey". They need to train their checkout staff and front desk staff on basic Customer Service that we have been practicing in this country for many years. When you speak to them, you get this resistance from them for help. For example, you will go to checkout counter, they will not be there or if they are there they don't make an eye contact, hoping you would go away, they don't tell you have seat, how can I help you. The front desk person also dress so inappropriately, there are kids there. When the front desk person speaks to you, she leans back on her chair as if she is too lazy to seat and speak properly. Been a patient for 20+ years, and the Springfield office has taken a nose-dive past few years and only keeps getting worse. I kept returning only because of the one doctor here whom I like and trust, but think it's time to take my business elsewhere. The staff became progressively worse, unprofessional and rude. It's a week before the year 2023, and the provider still refuses to see patients who have simple sinus infections (myself) and those who tested for the flu elsewhere (my parent), and those who just have a lingering cough with no other symptoms (myself couple months prior), all in the name of "covid precautions" regardless of negative covid tests. I guess they only want to deal with HEALTHY patients, which doesn't add up for a supposed doctor's office. Furthermore, they will gladly let you sit in a mostly-empty waiting room for 30+ minutes, and then some more in the patient room, but if you arrive 11 minutes past your appointment they will refuse to admit you because "the grace period is 10 minutes." The front desk adheres to this extra minute as if their life depends on it. The 4-5 weeks it took to finally get to the office (2 weeks to get rejected the day-of over the phone because of "covid" as described above, and another 2+ weeks to reschedule), now they tell you come back in another 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile of course they charge a no-show fee for both cases outlined above. Do yourself a favor and find a provider who actually cares about you. The Springfield office is absolutely not the place to go anymore. read more

Do Not Come Here! As a practice, they do not care about their patients, only about the money. While they do have some very caring and dedicated providers, you will never get to see them if you happen to have a balance on your account. I had a client that could not get an appointment for her insulin because she owed a balance of $25!!! Absolutely refused to schedule an appointment. My mother and I have been going to Mt. Vernon Internal Medicine (Lorton, now Lake Ridge, because we live in Woodbridge). The doctor I've been seeing is amazing, so no complaints there. My problems all stem from Mt. Vernon Internal Medicine's billing department! They are absolutely terrible. I'm well aware I have a co-pay and pay that each time I go in, but preventative care check ups (paps/physical) are free and I shouldn't have a bill. Sure enough, I received one! I called my insurance company (UHC) to inquire about the bill and we went through each code over the phone. Come to find out, Mt. Vernon's billing department didn't process my claim as preventative care and used codes my insurance company didn't cover. My insurance company called them to ask if they could re-submit the claim with the correct codes, and Mt. Vernon's billing department refused! So now I'm stuck with the bill. I've called Mt. Vernon Internal Medicine to challenge the bill and I keep getting their voice mail. Mt. Vernon just launched an online portal for patients, so I sent them an online request as well to call me back. I will wait to see if they call/follow up with me. If not, I will not be going back to this practice again. My mom has had similar experiences with the billing department too. read more

Probably don't even have to write a review because they already have a two star-rating. I have been a patient there since the '90s. Back then is was a nice, small practice. Over the years it has transitioned to a bureaucratic black hole. They are rude to you on the phone and in person. My experience over the last few years there has been awful. Just try to get a referral out of there without feeling like you're a problem. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor if you need them to do something like send in a referral to the insurance company. My recommendation is not to go there. read more

Been at this practice for at least 6 years. I had a physical done some months back and received a balance for a copay not paid and some other things. I know my insurance covers well checks so I knew I didn't have a copay. I called billing where Ines was extremely rude. She kept telling me she didn't think I understood how it worked. EXCUSE ME. I know how my insurance plan works and I know I don't pay copays for physicals. She wouldn't tell me the codes that were billed and kept telling me she was concerned because i wasn't understanding. I work at a Dr. office I know perfectly how it works. When I told her this she refused to give me the cpt codes that were billed incorrectly under an illness code.Extremely rude. This isn't the first time it's happened with the practice eiShe had me so irritated I cancelled my families upcoming appointments and switched providers. UPDATE: i had to come back to pick up my vaccines records which they stated they didn't have a copy of. Even though i have received vaccines here for sure. Receptionist still rude and dismissive. I've been a patient at Mt.Vernon internal medicine for about 13 years now. I always went to their Hinson farm rd office. I never had a problem. I removed to Woodbridge and I switched to their Woodbridge officer honking I was going to get the same service. Boy, was I wrong. Yes, the office is up to date on technology and the office is overall clean. But I recently got I'll, and I was in a lot of pain. I saw Dr.Nair. Not only did I felt rushed during my visit but she never responded to any of my messages. I had an x-ray done because of my back pain. I called several times to get the results. I called and left messages to get my pain mess switched brands, not refills. It took several days to get done. And I was never notified. So, I was tired of waiting. I called and complained to the office manager. I told her I was in so much pain I had to go to the E.R. There the Dr gave me the pain mess I needed. SoI never filled the ones Dr. Nair prescribed for me. Now here is the reason I ma really upset. Wen I called the office manager got Dr.Nair on the phone to speck to me. She treated me like, I was a pain killer addict. she didn't even know what I wanted and needed. Her attitude was of a person who could give a rats about my well being. She cut me off and didn't let me talk and quickly said ok, bye! And that was the end of my phone call. I felt that she really did not care at all. Everytime I would go I felt that the providers felt like seeing me was a chore! They were not compassionate and it was pulling teeth to try to have anyone call you back! You are just a number, not a person in need of help! Im switching providers because i can no longer take the constant judgement I felt was happening here, also when I called the office manager she was extremely rude and told me that how i feel are my opinions and she can't help that! Very disappointed. It always takes forever to get through on the phone to make an appointment to begin with. Even with an appointment there is typically a rather long wait time (40 min +) and the rude front desk staff continues to be a problem. I've seen Jill (nurse practitioner) who is very nice and at least cares, also Brenda is great. But last time I saw their new doc, Dr. Siddon and he was awful. Impatient, didn't listen, didn't care, overly self-assured for a new doc who just started. He gave me wrong advice on a positive TB test and an antibiotic for a cough which made me worse. Was diagnosed with bronchitis 10 days later and got the correct antibiotic. This whole place has gotten worse since I've first gone to them about 10 years ago. It seems like they are all about growth, more and more locations but less and less about quality providers and quality service. Cannot recommend. read more

It took my about 15 minutes of holding to just book an appointment, then I show up without my insurance card accidentally today and they would not see me even though I could have called in the number when I returned home. I came here in 2014 to receive a pap smear to get my birth control renewed for the year. The doctor mentioned that after having 3 consecutive good pap smear results, I would not have to return for another pap smear test the following year, which was very convenient. After having a year's worth of renewed birth control, I never knew when the prescription would expire. Until today. I am currently on my period (sorry if it is TMI) and planned to begin a new pack starting Sunday. When I called my pharmacist to ask for a renewal, they said my prescription was expired and that I needed to speak with my doctor. When I called Mt. Vernon Internal Medicine, the receptionists were very rude. They told me that in order to get my prescription renewed, I had to come in to take a pregnancy test to ensure that I was not pregnant. I told them that I needed to begin a new pack of birth control by Sunday and because I just found out mid-day today (Friday) that my prescription expired, I would not have time to see the doctor as I am working today and Saturday they are closed. I asked if the doctor (Brenda Rolander) could grant me at least a month's worth of birth control so that I could continue taking my birth control on time and to give me some time to make an appointment (after Sunday) to renew the prescription for another year. Because all they needed was a pregnancy test, I explained to them that I am currently on my period and would hope that was proof enough that I was not pregnant and to grant me a 1 month prescription. The receptionist said that even though I am on my period, it is still a 50/50 chance I could be pregnant because some women experience spotting during pregnancy (true). However my concern about not starting my new pack of birth control on time wasn't about getting pregnant, it was about a possible imbalance of my hormones as I have been on birth control for the last 8 years now. I also asked what my back up plan could be if I was not granted the 1 month prescription, and again the receptionist judged me and said that I could "practice abstinence". However, my question was not meant to be implied as "what should I do to not get pregnant this coming month?" but more so "where else could I try to get birth control so that my hormones can stay regulated?". In the end, I felt Dr. Rolander was not being a good doctor by not understanding my situation and allowing me the 1 month prescription of birth control so that I could continue taking them on time (as I have for the last 8 years) and giving me the time to make an appointment to come in to take the pregnancy test they required to renew the prescription for a year. read more

5 stars because for the past 15 years I have searched high and low for a dr's office that isn't run by complete idiots. Let me say that I am being nice by making this statement. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The front staff is very helpful and I've never had a problem with them. I've always seen Brenda Rolander and she is FABULOUS!!!!!! She always takes the time to answer questions and unlike most dr's offices I've been to, she won't "rush" you. She is very patient and kind. It shows that she genuinely cares about her patients. It's been a long time since I've found a dr's office that I really like and thanks to Brenda and the staff at Mt Vernon Internal Medicine (Lorton location), I will be coming here from now on. Do NOT make an appointment on-line with this business! I made an appointment on line and the first appointment I could get was about 1 1/2 weeks out. By the time the I was notified of an appointment on line I had already found another Dr. and was seen. I called the business and CANCELLED the appointment. The receptionist must not have put my cancellation in the system. I was sent bills for a 50$ missed appointment. I did not pay because I had called and cancelled the appointment. Tonight, I found out my husband paid the bill because we got a notification from a collection company.. Terrible SCAM. I will be calling on Monday to try and correct this. read more

Extremely unprofessional and Money Hungry Office/providers. They can handle simple problems but anything else they will refer you to a specialist, or totally brush it off. I went in for something that had been treated with diuretics long ago by a PCP I used to have (unfortunately retired). I went in this time for the same thing and the doctor prescribed antihistamine, for movement sickness and dizziness. I started having side effects, so I went back to see the doctor to have the prescription changed. They wanted to charge me and my insurance company another copay and office visit, because Siddon DO had prescribed something that did not work and gave me side effects only 2 days before! I decided not to check in after all . While I was talking to the front desk lady, the doctor came up to the front desk to tell me that there is nothing he could do and I would have to go to a specialist...so why had he agreed to see me and wanted to charge me more, if there was nothing he could do?? Now I have to wait almost 4 weeks to be seen by the specialist. So, I have decided to transfer to another PCP. Hopefully, one who shows compassion, sympathy and has enough medical knowledge to be able to handle my symptoms without sending me somewhere else ( and someone who is not in for the money). Sad :( because my family and I had been coming here for years. Hope this helps to others who are seeking Excellent medical treatment....it should not be hard to find. I have been a patient in this practice for about 25 years. I called to make an appointment and was on hold for 20 minutes. When they got to me, they would not make the appointment until I talked to billing as my account was locked out of appointments. I had forgotten to pay a small bill of $54.47. Truthfully, the bill was past due by about 30 days. But, I planned to pay it when I payed my copay the next day when I had my appointment. I have always paid my bills to this practice quickly. I have had a couple of problems where they had improperly coded my procedures so my insurance would not pay them. I called my insurance company and got the proper procedure code to fix this and called them to straighten it out. But, I had to do the leg work! So, I had cooperated when they made a mistake...but no reciprocation! Also, if you miss an appointment or do not give them 24 hours notice it is $50! No other doctor I go to actually does this. I have not been happy with the quality of their Doctors and so, usually just see the nurse practitioner. Dr Herrera is the exception. He is the best. I lay these problems at the foot of the business manager. Aggressive collection procedures and no one to answer the phone may save money in the short run, but the end result is poor customer service ...and the partners do not seem to care... read more

I don't know why they have 2 names, but here is the review I wrote for the other one: I've only been to the Lorton office so I can't speak for any of the other offices but I had as good of an experience as you can have a doctor's office. Remember, it's a doctor's office. My wife went there first and liked it and recommended I go there too so I did. Getting through on the phones was a little rough, but I got an appointment quickly with Dr. Siddon. Office staff was friendly, didn't wait long once I got there, overall good doctor experience. As a new patient they needed a lot of information and the tablet things were annoying but everything else was what you'd want from a doctor's office. I'll be going back there from now on. I never have a problem getting an appointment, it might take a few minutes, but not the long waits I'm reading about. And they can always see me within 24 hours. Brenda Rolander is the best practitioner I've ever seen - she listens, she cares, she explains, and she is proactive, and I never feel rushed. She never gives me grief about something I haven't done, but just a friendly reminder as to why it's important. The front desk staff is friendly, and I never have to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. So the 5 stars is for the front desk, nurses (who are wonderful), and Brenda Rolander. I've been a patient for over five years. They provide great care to their patients. They always are able to see me, even on short notice. The office staff is friendly and professional and although I always see NP's they are just as good as the physicians.
