Expired soy milk, this picture was taken on 5/18.

Massive Asian supermarket with lots of options for all types of Asian food. However, it's very disorganized compared to other Asian grocery stores such as H Mart and 99 ranch. Bring your own bags! Be aware some items on the shelves may be expired, I saw a soy milk on the shelf that was 5 days past its expiration date.

Let's just get this out the way: the cashiers are rude. I've been shopping in Asian stores for years, so I already know the cashiers don't bag groceries. That's fine. But the dramatic "walk away in your face to prove a point" routine? Completely unnecessary. Sis, we got the memo. You don't have to serve me Broadway when all I came for was bok choy. Speaking of bok choy...If you can overlook the cashier theatrics, this store is actually a gem. The produce is *SUPER* super fresh and wrapped up tight in so much plastic it gave me flashbacks to how my grandma used to wrap her furniture. The prices are great, the aisles are wide, and unlike most grocery stores, it doesn't feel like a stampede of carts chasing you down (Looking at you, Trader Joe's). Ice cream is pricey, but let's be real...you're paying for flavors you won't find at H-E-B. And can we talk about the koi fish out front? Thriving. Shiny. Gorgeous. I just hope they're being taken care of and nobody's sneaking them into a shopping bag. So yes, the produce is bomb, the prices are right, the selection is wide, and parking is easy. The only thing lacking is a little customer service grace. Four stars.

It is Fil Am months and shout out to this store who have the widest selection of Filipino packed meat, spices, sauce and canned goods I could think of. I didn't get to take pics of all of them as I was here on a mission with my sons to get what they need on their trip back to their home. Prices are more reasonable and place very clean and organized!

The selection is amazing!!!! Love the large produce section. Every aisle is full, organized and easy to find what you're looking for. Love the little finds!!

They have a tiny selection of Korean goodies up front on the table where the premade goodies are

Still my store I like to go to in order to get my ingredients I need to cook at home. Thankfully in the time I have shopped here they have not changed the aisles so much where I get lost like other national stores. I can pretty much get what I need here and even find items to try that I have never had before. I definitely have good memories with this place. At one time they used this place as a voting location so I came here to vote. I thought it was a convenient spot. On my recent visit, I noticed they now have Korean food in their premade section up front near the entrance. I definitely had to make a purchase. They didn't have our usual Korean noodle kit so we got one to try out. It was not bad at all. Come on by and try something new or different today!

The cashier's name and the last item she double scanned.

I've been a long time customer of MT market. Although I never really experienced a good service here, yesterday service was unacceptable. I usually don't leave a review unless it is so bad that I want other people to be aware. As the cashier was scanning the items, I bagged them as she passed them down. When it was time for me to pay, I have already bagged most of the items. There were only a few items left that I didn't get to bag because I had to stop to pay. While I was pulling out my wallet and credit card, the cashier just stood there and didn't even help me bag the last few items. I had to finish paying and bagged the rest. When I got home, I double checked the receipt and found out she scanned an item twice. I did try to bag while also checking the screen since many of my family members have had issues with their cashiers double charging or adding random items. However, I was rushing since there was a line so I skipped the last few items to pull out my card to pay. And of course it was the very last item that she double charged me. I just want other people to be aware of this problem so make sure to double check your receipt right then and there. And take your time to make sure they ring up the right items. I have tried to help them bag and help the line move but why would I have to do that to receive an awful service/experience in return. If the owner of MT market sees this review, I just want to say that your employees are the face of your business. Pay attention to how your employees treat your customers and ensure proper training and supervision. The cashier's name was Thi My L. and you need to have a serious conversation with her. I'm sure you don't want to pay someone to do a sloppy work.

First time coming here with the family. Pretty cheap for the most part and they sold a lot of things that you can't find normally in one place. Huge selections of seafood fresh and live. Decent amounts of produce. Geared towards Vietnamese products, there are a few Korean stuff. Parking lot is huge and the staff are friendly. Store is pretty clean and doesn't seem too busy.

An international town center of goodness brought from the other side of the world. My wife and I come to this side of town to not only discover the new items that are brought to MT Supermarket, but stroll the aisles to pick up lists of our favorite Vietnamese dishes. Foods from all over South East Asia, the Philippines, Thailand and Japan and a few others grace the aisles for eastern families who loves to cook those dishes. Being from the Bay Area, I miss the warm smiles from families who have emigrated from overseas. I enjoy the familiar politenesses of older couples helping me in my selections of food and wares. In turn, helping to reach items from the top shelf that they are unable to reach. I walk away with more in my shopping bags than shopping at any other grocery stores. It pays to know!

This is my very favorite Asian market in Austin. It keeps getting bigger and bigger. I love it because they have Korean, Indonesian, Japanese and lots of other items. The biggest selection of frozen buns and a really nice produce section. This is a fun place to shop and if you buy tofu you will find it's more affordable here!

Ask the Community - MT Supermarket

Is this store more popular than 99 Ranch? We live closer to Dallas so we go to 99 Ranch more often, but we'd like to know which asian market the locals prefer!

MT Supermarket has been here much longer than 99 Ranch. Seems like the MT area is more of a hotspot for middle aged Vietnamese people, whereas 99 Ranch area has more trendy places like Oh K Dogs, 85 Degrees, Daiso, Kura Sushi, and Kinokuniya. I'd… Read more

I haven't seen this here. Your better I going to a korean grocery store like h-mart

Do they have Thai basil and Thai chili's?

yes MT has thai chili's and thai basil

    Will I find durian there?

Yes. There were several fresh Durian fruit in an open top cooler at the back of the produce section about a month ago.

Do they carry fresh Lychee? I live an hour and a half away so I wanted to make sure before we drove down.

I suggest calling the store before your drive. I have seen fresh lychee for sale but it is seasonal and sparse. Lychee season is mid to late summer.

Do they clean fish ? Fry fish?

They will de-scale fish and de-head upon request. I haven't heard of them frying fish.

Are the prices of produce/vegetables relatively cheap compared to stores like HEB?

    Yes.

Coffee, though, was more expensive compared to other international stores I've been to. What really stood out in a bad way was the attitude of the staff. No one was rude exactly, but they act like they don't really want to be there, and definitely not like they want you to be there either. Product-wise, no complaints. One of my absolute favorites is their onigiri rice balls--I honestly crave them. I stopped by a little after lunchtime, and there was already a sign saying they were finished taking onigiri orders for the day. I was browsing around anyway when one of the ladies kindly asked what I was looking for. I casually mentioned a few onigiri styles, and to my surprise she smiled and said they still had some left and could make them for me. That small gesture completely made my day. The kindness and warmth of the Japanese ladies working there truly stands out. You can feel the care they put into both the food and the customers. I also picked up some Japanese noodles and sweets while I was there, which made for a very delicious and comforting lunch at home. Thank you for the wonderful service and atmosphere. And I didn't know what to expect my first visit. I thought I was going into a mini Japanese version of H Mart or something, but nope. This is very much a Japanese CONVENIENCE STORE with a little extra bonus on the side, so adjust any expectations. SIXTY PERCENT OF THE STORE IS NOODLES. Like WTF...is this a noodle headquarters? It felt unbalanced...like I had walked into the wrong store and wasn't supposed to be there. So many noodles, it scared me. I expected a variety store. Carry on. The layout is also a bit confusing for such a small space. I genuinely wasn't sure what areas were designated for customers and what areas were for employees...at one point wandering way into the back. My bad. They've got a solid selection of imported goods. Slightly pricey, but this is expected since they offer quite a few niche items you can't find everywhere. Still affordable, though. I HAPPILY grabbed some black sesame latte mix to whip up iced lattes at home as well as some black tea flavored soy milk. This is what you come to these stores for! The niche items. Now to the soft serve: Flavor-wise? Good strong black sesame flavor. Texture? Not so great. This was very icy and not creamy at all as I had hoped. The online pics were deceiving. Plus there were clumps in it that should've been blended out. However, it was refreshing and I could MAYBE see myself returning on a hot day for more if I'm close by. They only offer it on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. It's good, but no need to run for this. You can walk. Lol. It scratched the itch but I'm not running back for it. All in all, not an everyday stop, but an "I'll see you when I see you" spot. Know what I mean? 3 stars.
