Mt Olympus Clock Shop - Grandfather cuckoo clock - Watches Near Me - Millcreek, Utah

First, take a look at the attached image of their customer reviews. Notice a common theme: "cheap" and "quick." "Expertise" is also hinted. Therefore, imagine my understandable great dismay and dissatisfaction when I brought in a common Casio PRO TREK to have its rechargeable battery replaced. The initial associate whom I'd handed the watch and described the issues (battery not holding a charge; ABC features causing recovery mode; no beeps; etc.) to was a moron. He cluelessly inspected the watch with a puzzled look and repeatedly asked about it features and the problems, then suggesting that I should leave it overnight. My fair interrogative inquiry to the idiot: "There've been many other customers coming in here for the same thing. Why are you acting like you've never done this before!?" That was when another employee (boss or manager?) came over with an attitude. However, this one did show proper knowledge and promptly, correctly diagnosed that my Casio should get a new battery installed, BUT would cost 75 fucking dollars(!) and take a few hours. Again, "read the numerous reviews" as I suggested to the second individual, who faslely argued the rechargeable battery for my watch cost more, while also stupidly implying that in all the years the shop had been operating--with many customers visiting--no one had ever brought in a watch with a rechargeable battery. So, having enough of the bullshit from the two dumbasses, I curtly left. Subsequently, I ordered a $15 rechargeable battery online, watched a 5-minute video, and proceeded to replace the battery and reset the watch myself. No pointless, useless watch repair shop necessary. read more

Mt Olympus Clock Shop - Many reviews from other customers having their watch batteries replaced "quickly" and "cheaply." - Watches Near Me - Millcreek, Utah

I dropped my Rolex watch off to get an estimate to have it repaired as the auto wind mechanism isn't working well. I got an estimate that was over my budget but wasn't charged for the work to check it out. Maybe I'll bring it back after a few months to have it worked on. The staff are pleasant and friendly and the interior is full of fun nutcrackers, clocks and watches. Mt Olympus is a neat little shop with unique products. read more

Cracked the crystal on my watch. Had them replace it. Started leaking water after their repair. Took my watch back. They said the water pressure test was fine. Not true. Went to pick my watch up it wasn't put together and still leaking... They didn't even put the back on the watch on properly. Go somewhere else they do not care about their work or clients. read more

NEVER NEVER NEVER BRING YOUR WATCH HERE!!!! I brought my higher end stainless Swiss watch in for the second time for a battery. They advised me I would also need some routine service including a new gasket.... OK.... I picked my watch up a week or so later. I went skiing a few days later. It was a sunny day with no new snow. I noticed in the evening I had condensation INSIDE the face of my watch. I have never experienced this with this watch and I ski a lot. I called Mt Olympus and they gave me some bogus answer. I asked to speak with the manager, and he too told me I did not know what I was talking about. He even laughed out load at me along with someone in the background. He was trying to MANSPLAIN to me how because my watch was older etc.......I told him I have never had condensation in my watch. He laughed again. I hung up. I called Morgan Jewery and they recommended a watch repair person, who I went to the next day. I left my watch there for him to look at. When I picked my watch up, he stated the case tubing showed some wear and possible rusting, and he had repaced that along with damaged caseback gasket, that he also stated was the wrong fit. WOW OMG! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO MT OLYMPUS CLOCK FOR ANYTHING. WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE EXPERIENCE. ****Thank you Ryan for fixing my watch**** read more

These guys never let me down! My pocket watch that I've carried for years and years suddenly it started running slow, even with a new battery. I took it to Mt Olympus and they fixed it right up; now it keeps perfect time. I'm a repeat customer; my first experience with Mt Olympus was when I took a priceless, antique cuckoo clock to them several years ago. They had to special order the parts so it took awhile to repair, but when my clock was finished it was as good as new. It's a fascinating shop to visit, by the way. Filled with all sorts of wonderful clocks. Service is friendly and professional. read more

I brought in seven watches to have the batteries replaced. One didn't need it and another watch didn't work, but I wasn't charged. The TAG Heuer divewatch was left so that the watchmaker could put in a new gasket and pressure tested for leaks while scuba diving. Very reasonable pricing. Amy worked for 45 minutes while I waited to replace the batteries and the other five watches. Very friendly and just a fun shop to go into with all the cuckoo clocks and products from Germany. The place is a museum. Highly recommended. I used them decades ago. They have a watchmaker on site. read more

Very friendly service and great selection of clocks and nutcrackers! Place was very charming and prices were very fair.

I came here a while ago for a battery change and to get my metal watch band fixed. They got everything done really quickly. The staff seem knowledgeable, and I appreciated how they explained everything to me. Pricing is fair, and the quality of work is amazing. I would definitely come back for any watch repair or maintenance. read more

We've brought at least a dozen clocks into Mt. Olympus Clock Shop over the last 20 years or so. They're always professional and repairs are expertly executed. They let you know exactly what needs to be done, in detail, to repair the clock before they start working on it, along with the price. They've even made a house call to repair our grandfather clock. I'm happy such a business exists in such close proximity to our home as we are crazy about antique clocks and love to have them in working order. read more

I was very pleased with their service and attention. I brought in several watches that needed battery replacement. I was told by another shop that 2 of them needed to have the mechanics replaced and the others beyond repair. They checked them all and replaced the batteries. Two needed to have more extensive work but not worth doing. They only charged me for the battery replacement and nothing for checking the others. Honest and easy to work with. I live in Heber City and it was worth the trip down. FYI they are an authorized Hamilton and Raymond Weil shop. read more

Bought a Christmas present here for my clock loving grandparents. The exterior of the shop is super cute and quaint. The shop is full of cool clocks and nutcrackers, it is expensive so unless you're planning on spending a few to several hundred dollars the selection is small. They have an awesome selection of cuckoo clocks. Everything in their shop is quality and make for great gifts! read more

I had a clock that simply needed a new battery powered motor. I first went to Times Ticking, who wanted $200 for the repair. I then tried Mt. Olympus. They fixed the clock with a new motor for $69. Nice that there are still businesses just trying to give you good service at a reasonable price. read more

This is a great, family owned business, which I have patronized for years. Battery replacement, pressure testing of diving watches, band replacement, or repair of a grandfather clock, they do it all. These people are pros! read more

Been looking for a reliable watch repair shop since I moved to SLC. I used to go to Time Masters in Austin TX and I really like their professional knowledge. Well I found My Olympus and it has the same credibility. Family owned and operated, master watchman, with excellent service. It took a long time, 4 months, but they fixed my bfs mother's vintage cuckoo! It sounds great and works perfectly. I dropped my mother's cuckoo clock off to get repaired too. It hasn't worked since probably 1988! Really really hope they have it ready in time for her birthday the beginning of september. Thank you! read more

Have used them in the past. Took a perpetual calendar watch to have the battery changed and reset. Charged $9 for the battery but couldn't reset the month/day/date. They said they'd have their watch repair guy look at it. He came back with a quote for $250 for a factory service. Seemed unneeded so I took the watch back, looked on YouTube and reset the watch functions in about 5 minutes! I called and complained. They told me that they can't be expected to know how to reset every watch. Ok, but they could have told me that rather than tell me it needed $250 of repairs. Seems like incompetence at best, fraud at worst. Beware if they tell you your watch needs a "factory service." read more

I love this place! Norm has serviced our grandfather clock for 16 years. He drives to Layton to oil it and check to be sure everything is working well. It is always fun to chat with him while he works. His knowledge of clocks is amazing. read more

There are several clock repair shops in Salt Lake County. This one stood out because of the great reviews on Yelp and they deserved them. I took my wall wind-up chiming clock there because though it kept good time, it consistently chimed at the wrong time. I brought it in and asked for an estimate to repair it and instead they just fixed it and said no charge. I will definitely bring the clock back here next time it needs professional help. read more

Great shop! They repair and sell watches and clocks. They've been there forever. They know what they're doing. They've serviced my Rolex on two separate occasions. I've owned it since 1982. They're not the least expensive watch repair/clock shop in the Valley but they're trusted and knowledgeable. read more

These guys are terrific. Service while you wait for watch battery replacement and you're out the door for less than 10 bucks in 10 minutes.

I'm annoyed after visiting this place. I called in advance and let them know what I was looking for. I need my mechanical pocket watch repaired so that I can use it again. I use it as my daily time piece and I'm pretty sure that it just got magnetized because I didn't realize that could happen so easily. I was told that they could repair it so I drove 400 miles and brought my pocket watch in. When I got there, what I assume was the repair specialist wasn't listening to me and could only focus on telling me that it's impossible to use it for daily use because "people don't wear watches like they did back then." He also wasn't listening to me when I was trying to explain the issue, and would immediately talk about how I couldn't wear it for daily use. I get that you think you're the expert in this situation, you've been repairing watches for a long time that's why I came to you. however, I didn't come in to have you tell me it can't be worn because I know it can. it's rare to see someone who would want to because cellphones are so much more convenient, but there are plenty of people who do wear these watches for daily use. what I needed you to do is leave the wearing to me and do what you know best which is listen to what's going on with it and tell me how it can be fixed. read more

Good local watch shop. Replaced batteries for both watches at $5 each (yelp check in promo). Normal price for battery replacement is about $8 which is very reasonable compare to other places that wanted $20. read more
