Came here for a private event and only had drinks, so consider this a partial review. Ms Yoo is a Korean-American gastropub on the Lower East Side, and it's a genuinely cool space with a nice, intimate feel to it. The interior does a lot of the heavy lifting. Now the honest part. The drinks were just okay and weren't particularly strong, and the prices ran high even though the event was subsidizing them, which tells you something. The lines were long and the service was slow. Not exactly a flawless night on the logistics front. That said, everyone still had a good time, myself very much included, which counts for a lot. I'd like to come back as a regular customer to actually work through the food menu and see how it stacks up, since I've only experienced half of what this place offers. Four stars on vibes and potential, with a mental note to reassess once I've eaten here. read more

Very cute club/bar. Only thing that I wish was they let us sit on our seats at the bar even though it was getting later in the night. At a certain time they asked you to get off your bar seats so they can make into a club like atmosphere. Drinks are good. Very cute and fun . The food was also pretty good. And I think the Vibes was very good. The staff was so friendly. I loved all of them five stars to the staff. Came for the tacos and drinks! Lychee soju is house-steeped and delightful -- would highly recommend. And all the tacos are fantastic. In order, my favorites were the crispy shrimp, tofu (surprisingly!!), bulgogi, and spicy pork. The crispy shrimp has the perfect balance of plump shrimp and crunchy breading. The tofu similarly is fried to a lovely crisp while staying light and moist inside. The bulgogi is flavorful although a tiny bit dry. And the spicy pork has delicious morsels of fatty pork but unfortunately was too spicy for me (I'm told this is their most popular flavor though! I can see why, unfortunately my spice tolerance could not keep up). read more

This cute little spot had been on my list for a while--came mainly because of Esther Choi. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the hype. We ordered the large tteok n cheese, their take on mac and cheese with tteokbokki. Honestly, it was a letdown. The tteok was undercooked, still hard instead of soft and chewy--and the flavor was pretty bland. We also got the taro fries, which were solid. The sauce they came with was actually really good. While the food overall didn't hit, the drinks definitely made up for it. And shoutout to Karl, he was such a vibe and made the experience way more fun. read more

Came here for some quick drinks and was surprised to find how good the cocktails were. Got to get between the knees where the alcohol taste got masked by the strawberry puree which I like. Also got to try the stairway to heaven which really like. I thought the spice really enhanced the drink and reminds me of a spicy margarita. The service was wonderful. When me and my friends (a groups 3) came in, they immediately set up a 3rd tall top chair to ensure that everyone has a seat by the bar. read more

When we got there, we were the only patrons there and during our time, 2 other parties came. Perhaps it has more of a late night crowd? The service was amazing! Everyone was so friendly and kind. I was excited to try this spot because they had an extensive happy hour food & drink menu. The ambiance was vibing based on the photos and videos posted on instagram and google photos. And Esther Choi is the chef. My boyfriend and I got here Saturday night around 6pm. We made it to happy hour. The service was great, but the cocktails were a bit disappointing. My boyfriend and I tried about 5 cocktails together. The cocktail concoction was meh. And the worst part was the food I ordered, 2 pieces of pork belly bun. The pork smelled kind of funny, but I ate them both because my boyfriend didn't want any. I shouldn't have eaten it because I ended up with a really bad tummy ache shortly after we left. Brightly lit up pink, floral decor, with other interesting ornamental fixtures, which overall gives it that vibe I described earlier. The two bartenders I've ordered drinks from are super friendly and know how to make a mean cocktail right in front of you. Make sure you tip them well. The decor of this spot was really well done! A nice potential date spot if decor and vibes are main priority. The wait staff were also very friendly but I think that's as far as it goes in terms of the good points. The food was very..... meh. I came with a couple friends and we ordered a spread for the table to share. The Nachos were nothing special and the toppings were very unevenly distributed. There also wasn't a lot of meat on it.. The shrimp tacos tasted ok. They were crispy but cold or room temp at best. We also got the Tteok and cheese - a fusion take on tteokbokki but using a mac n cheese sauce as opposed to the traditional red gochujang sauce. I could see the inspiration but it was poorly executed. It comes in two sizes - we opted for the small which was very small in my opinion (especially for the price). But even so, we didn't finish it because it was so underwhelming. The kimchi rice was presented on a searing hot skillet, to which scrambled egg was poured on top at the table. It was cool to see, but tasted pretty bad. The rice was bland and I think there was definitely less than 2 strips of bacon in the dish (possibly even less than 1) which is a bit ridiculous in my opinion, given it was $24. Maybe it's a spot for drinks but will definitely not be eating here again. So so disappointing as the concept is cool and the venue was nicely decorated and staffed. read more

came here 8pm on a friday with a reservation. there were a good amount of people but not packed. we got a table for 2 and ordered a drink each. the servers were very nice about it (sometimes i feel like they get upsetti spaghetti at you for not ordering a lot) which set good vibes. the drinks were PHENOMENAL. i got the taro and sesame oil drink (forgot their names). you could taste each element of the drink and how they complemented each other. genius idea!!!! it's so hard to find asian inspired drinks and this place definitely satisfied my asian drink craving. 10/10 would come back!!! only critique is that the music is very loud. probably perfect if you don't want to actually listen to your date though LOL! read more

Made a reservation for 2 on a Thursday night and it was pretty packed. We got seated and ordered our food/drinks right away. Our drinks didn't come until we got asked if we were doing okay (no drinks or food on table) 30 mins in. There was only one bartender at the bar so it's understandable our drinks came late. First the chicken wings arrived and they smelled so good! The taste was on par too! The tteok-cheese and shrimp burger came a while after. Tteok-cheese was so delicious we ordered another one, but the shrimp burger was a little more on the drier side. Our drinks were good, but they're on the smaller side. We ordered the Mulberry, Between the Knees, and Parrot Cries with its body. I docked a star only because service was slow. Our drinks and food came really late. Our reservation was at 8 and we left around 10:30. There was an event that night, and only two waiters taking orders. Came here for my friends lunar new year celebration and was blown away by the food, drinks, and service! This bar/restaurant is a little small but it was the perfect spot for 20-25 of us to celebrate before the large crowds arrived after hours. They have awesome djs who play mostly hip hop and the decor is very modern/instagram-friendly. For food- I got the shrimp tacos which were absolutely delicious with crispy fried shrimp and a delicious mango salsa. I also tried the nachos with tofu which were fully loaded and made with fresh tortilla chips. Those were also good and a really large portion. I tried the Brussels sprouts as well which were cooked perfectly crisp with a tasty sauce on top. I also heard great feedback about the wings and birria tacos so def worth a try too! For drinks- I stuck with the "between the knees" which was basically a strawberry daiquiri with gin. As someone who likes gin & sweet drinks, this was perfect for me. Lastly, the staff/bartenders were so so sweet and accommodating to our group and made us all feel really welcomed. I thoroughly enjoyed my night here and look forward to going back. Celebrated my birthday this weekend and Ms Yoo and i'm so glad I did! As an iron chef fan this has been on my restaurant list for a while. Rob was so helpful and prompt in planning and the process was seamless. The food exceed my expectations. We were honestly so shocked! Came here with my girls when one of our friends was visiting from out of town. It was pretty easy to spot and upon entering, the vibe is definitely gastropub meets chic lounge. Dim, fluorescent lighting and great music set. We ordered several things to share and literally EVERYTHING was amazing. We ended up ordering the Brussel sprouts twice. The volcano kimchi fried rice was simply AMAZING. Literally, everything was seasoned to perfection. I had the 'between the knees' drink which was absolutely yummy. The guy who waited on our table was extremely friendly and gave perfect recommendations. So apparently, after the kitchen closes it turns primarily into a lounge/nightclub and the tables are removed. Some of our party did not know this beforehand. Prior to closing out our checks, we ordered a couple more drinks and handed out cards to close out our bill. Once we closed out, a lady came and practically rushed us out of there because that area was to be reserved for someone else which we had no idea. Up to that point it was a great experience. We loved this place! We stopped in briefly to enjoy some happy hour specials before bouncing around for the night. The decor is so nice and clean and the vibe was very comfortable. We sat at the bar and were the only people there other than the bartender, but I could see this place filling up later in the night. M ordered the "stud" whiskey drink and I ordered a Soju cocktail. We both enjoyed our drinks. The happy hour chicken sandwich was incredible. Super small but so tasty! The happy hour specials are still expensive but hey, that's how it is in the city. It wasn't bad, but maybe it's just not my thing - sesame oil is strong in food, so in a drink it's a bit overpowering. My friend had a between the knees with gin and strawberry puree, and unfortunately it tasted like a breakfast drink it was so sweet, we had to send it back and get something else. We tried the booze over flowers, stairway to heaven, lychee soju, and watermelon soju. They have happy hour from 5pm-6pm on certain food items and drinks. For food we shared the pork belly buns, taro fries, korean fried chicken, bulgogi street tacos, shrimp tacos, ms yoo burger, and shrimp burger. My favorite was the bulgogi street tacos but they either come as 3 or 5. The shrimp burger was alright but the ms yoo burger was better! The burgers come with fries and ketchup. I've been here a few times and I usually opt for sitting at the bar, but my latest experience here didn't allow for that as half of the bar stools were removed for I don't know what. On busier nights they employ a DJ, which seems pretty pointless cause you can just put together a playlist of more palpable tunes on Spotify yourself (pending taste). I came here to meet a friend for drinks and despite the fact that it was crowded and no bar seating, I was promptly and courteously seated. The waitress was very kind and we ordered the pork bao buns, edamame, and several drinks. New Years Eve Review** Absolutely loved it! Got tix for a 4 hour open bar and food for $100 about a week before NYE. The ambience is classy, the food was delicious, service on point, and drinks were easy to get at the bar. We especially loved the sliders, jap chae and fried chicken bao. Coat check was $3 and painless. We even got to sit on the couches without paying extra for tables which was so convenient. They provided party hats and lights and had a projector screen for the countdown. Would love to come back! read more

Came in for drinks during Saturday Happy Hour. Surely it was a surprise that HH was available on Saturday so it was a pleasant surprise. We ordered the tacos and burger, and personally I felt that the food is disappointing. The tacos were the size of my palm, which is super tiny with little toppings. We ordered the shrimp and there were 2 baby shrimps on each taco. For 15$ I would hope to get more than 6 pieces of shrimp on 3 tacos However, service was incredible. The bartender was happy to recommend drinks. He always checked in to make sure our glasses were full. Very fun vibes. I think there is a dance floor upstairs that opens at midnight for the public!! They hired one of NYC's best mixologist to come in to create the drinks and it shows. Super pricy though not an everyday place, more of a on special occasions or happy hour place. The food program should also be talked about. They have these killer fried chicken buns that during happy hour are $4 each. They have a few other food items on their happy hour as well which makes happy hour a perfect first stop. Con: Wine list is seriously lacking with only three options. When they have their DJ nights the place gets way to crowded with drunk finance frat boys and doesn't make for a great night out. Also, they have a female bartender that has major attitude. Two levels here, both have alcohol. Downstairs is more lounge like, and upstairs has a DJ and more space for dancing. I had both the lychee soju and watermelon soju cocktails. I think it could use a bit more topping since towards the end we had just chips left - mulberry 9/10: $11 cocktail during happy hour isnt really a Steal but i appreciated its booziness - lychee soju 7/10: this, on the other hand, just tasted like lychee juice.
